Chapter 1

Aziz

Tonight is just like that night, when a horror happened that caused the death of my mother and separated me from my siblings. Dad told me about what had happened and gave me a task that I couldn't believe at first.

It was just like that night, and I was in my bedroom with my dad. I was only 8 years old, but my father, the Alpha of the Dark Blood Pack, told me about the incident in which my mother had died.

*** Flashback ***

"You have to listen to me carefully, son," Dad said. He always sent me to my bedroom to sleep, but it was the first time that he talked to me like that. The usual happy nighttime with him was very serious now.

"Your mother died when she gave birth to you and your siblings." He didn't tell me about them and only knew about the story from other pack members.

"I heard that my siblings and mom didn't make it," I said,

"Your mom didn't, but your siblings were all alive." My eyes widened in shock. In my eight years, all I know is that I am the only child after my siblings have died.

"Where are they?" I asked curiously. As a child, I looked for someone of my age I could play with, even if my dad had made me train. I like the idea of having sisters, but thinking about protecting them made me feel a little scared.

"I had to separate you all from each other to save your lives. If the vampire king found out that all of you were alive, I was sure that he would be coming back to finish what he hadn't accomplished."

"Why would he want to kill us?"

"There was a prophecy that a quadruplet would end his life. Being an immortal and our natural enemy, he did everything he could to find the Luna who bears them."

"And he found Mom?" I asked, and he nodded.

"Everything happened so fast that I couldn't believe it. Your mother was so strong that she still managed to live a little longer and made sure to give birth to all of you." Dad said, "No one in the pack knew about it besides me, your mom, and the doctor. I brought you to the pack house after I sent your siblings to different places where I thought you would take care of them. You are so weak that pack members believed me instantly when I told them that your mom and siblings didn't make it."

I was only eight. How come he was telling me all of this? Confused and having no idea what my dad was trying to point out, I looked at him with teary eyes. "You have to be strong, son. Be the best alpha that you can be and defeat the vampire king. You must promise me that you are going to look for your siblings when the time comes." I nodded only because I wanted to see my siblings.

"They are all girls. I'm sure that you will love them because I had a feeling that they would be just like your mom."

"Will they like me too?" I asked,

"Of course, you are their brother and have the same blood. I just hope that they will forgive me and your mom for doing that to them." He replied,

"Why did you choose me to stay here?" I asked, "You could have chosen either one of them, so why me?" The curious kid in me asked. They were girls and would have been better if they were the ones who stayed here, but why didn't they? What if something happened to them? What if they become rogues, and I know what could happen to a female rogue?

"They were very weak at that time, and I was worried that the vampire king would come to them again. You, being a boy who will soon assume my title, are the only chance for the pack, and you, along with your siblings, to survive. Remember, you must not let the vampire king succeed."

"Yes, Dad," I replied. Maybe I'm just a boy, but I'm sure that I am going to fulfill my promise. As for my siblings, they are going to be my motivation to get stronger. So when I find them, we will be together and won't need to be separated once again.

"Letting you stay with us would make the vampire king think that there was no one who could stop him. You have to be discreet about your siblings, or they will be in danger. Seek help from those whom you trust with your life and no one else." He said, Let me sleep.

After that conversation, he started to train me a little harder each day. He wanted me to learn how to endure pain so none of my enemies would break me. He taught me to become smart. Even if I was only a kid, he would tell me every pack's problem and ask me about what I thought he should do.

I answered him every time and saw how proud he was when he thought I made a good point and corrected me if I was wrong. Physical training was tiring and draining all my strength. There were times when I wanted to stop, but when I thought about my siblings and what could have happened to them, I would start to train again.

They were my motivations for getting stronger and smarter. Dad never pressured me, but I did that for myself. He may have already seen it, so he just made himself ready for me when I felt like giving up. At such a young age, I instilled in my young mind that I was going to be the alpha that would defeat the vampire king along with my siblings.

Until the day that my dad died. I was 16, and even if he had already honed me into a strong alpha, I couldn't help but feel sad for being alone. I know how much he longed for my mother. I saw him looking from nowhere with a sad look on his face.

The loss of his mate that he had been enduring for years had finally consumed him. He tried to hold on until he was sure that I was ready.

"Don't forget to tell your siblings that your mom and I love them so much. And we are sorry that we had to do what we did. I am now going to be with your mother. She wanted me to stay with you, but I don't think my heart could still make it. I missed her so much. I trust you, son." He said this before he finally took his last breath.

*** End of Flashback ***

Now, I am 23 and still mateless. I didn't want to find her yet, not until I killed the vampire king. Her life would be in danger if she ever came before that.

The vampire king had never visited the pack, and I started searching for my siblings when I turned 18, but now I still get no news about them. The packs where Dad left them had no clue about where they were as well. Dad just left them at the border and didn't wait until someone took them. He said he was worried about me and my mother, who had just died.

He put a note on each of them and a necklace that would prove that they were my siblings. Dad said that I would be able to know once I saw it. I just hope that whoever takes them takes care of them properly.

As for my future mate, I just hope that she will be able to understand me if I never acknowledge her when the time comes and the vampire king is still alive. I hope and pray to the moon goddess not to send her to me just yet.

"What happened?" I asked,

"Negative, Aziz. The woman was not a wolf or a vampire." My beta, Reeves, said He was the previous beta's son. My dad trusted his father, and so did I. His father retired when I turned 20, along with the gamma. Their sons are my trusted comrades and friends.

"Are you sure about what you said?" I asked Carter. He's my gamma, and he told me that his father told him before he left that he followed my father when he went to the Meadows Pack. My dad left, but he stayed a little longer and waited for someone to take the pup.

"Why didn't he just tell me about it after Dad died?" I asked in frustration.

"You know that his loyalty lies with your mother and father. I'm sorry." I understand him, but I was their alpha after my father died, and he should have informed me about it. Yeah, he didn't know that; Dad told me, but still, he should have tried and told me.

"If he was certain that a pack member took her, then I had to go and see for myself. They could have hidden her, so we wouldn't be able to find my sibling."

"The worker in the diner was a human as well, so she's not the one we are looking for." Reeves said,

"Which diner?"

"The one that is owned by Cane and his mate." He replied,

"Did you ask them?"

"No, they just told me casually after they hired her. I forgot to tell you, and I just saw her recently too. Cane said that she was always on the night shift, so we never had a chance to see her whenever we went there. And you know how clean freak Lottie was, so the whole diner was clean the next morning, and we won’t be able to catch her scent." I nodded. Cane is one of our friends, and the diner acts as a front, so we will be able to find out or get information from other packs. “She has been working there for two years, I guess,” he added.

"Inform the Meadow Pack that we are going to visit," I said, and the two nodded. The pack was not that far from ours. It was one of our neighboring packs; only they closed the closest and fastest way to get to their pack from ours. If only they were our allies, they would surely make a road open for them and us to visit each other.

"When?" Reeves asked,

"In two days, tell them that I am going to visit to see if I can find my mate there. I just hope not." I replied, and the two chuckled.

"You didn't want to be connected to that pack?" Carter asked.

"No, I didn't want her to be targeted by the vampire king. I didn't care which pack she was in; I just didn't want a mate at that moment. Especially when I still didn't find any of my siblings," I answered.

"What if one of your siblings is our mate? Isn't it a happy family for us?" Carter asked excitedly, I wanted to hit his head and might have done so if not for Reeves laughing loudly.

"What?" Carter asked, confused.

"You wanted me to become your, as humans say, "brother-in-law"?" I asked, and he swallowed his saliva.

"Forget about what I asked," he replied and asked permission to leave instead. Reeves, on the other hand, sat down and said,

"I had another lead for one of them, but I don't think that you will be able to like it." He said,

"What is it?"

"I happened to stumble upon a group of rogues in human territory the other day. I was on my way to Cane's diner when I accidentally heard them talking on the way to a human-owned diner too. I followed them because I got intrigued."

"What did you find out?"

"I heard them talking about a female rogue. They said that she was beautiful and had a very unique scent. She smells like a wolf and a vampire at the same time, but she was not marked by either of them."

"What makes them think that she was a rogue?"

"Because she doesn't smell like she has a pack. You know rogues knew about each and every pack's scents. It's their way of survival. They even know whether the one in front of them is strong or not."

"What do you think?"

"I think we should give it a try as well. We have to find her and see for ourselves. But let me remind you, she's very hard to deal with, according to those rogues," he answered.

"Then she must be one of my siblings if she is really like what you said she is."

"Yeah, you're very hard to deal with too." He replied, and I chuckled. At least I already have a lead on the two of them.

After two days, Reeves and I traveled to the Meadow Pack, and I had to listen to him complain that we needed to hit the road when we could just go there through the woods. "They knew that we knew what they wanted. We didn't want them to think anything, so we had to go their way." I told him repeatedly.

Even if my pack is strong and can surely take down the Meadow Pack, I still think that it is unnecessary. I may be known to be ruthless, but I uphold justice every time. Killing without reason is a big no for me.

We would be passing by Cane's diner, so I asked Reeves to make a stop and take a look at the human that he was telling me.

My beta parked the car, so I went ahead. Then I felt my wolf getting excited. 'Stop it; it's as though you're about to meet your mate.' I told him, and then I suddenly stopped when I entered the diner because I smelled that sweet caramel scent.

Shit, this is not good. I didn't want to meet her yet. Everyone's eyes were on me with respect, except the one who was wiping the table. I noticed Reeves followed my gaze, and I didn't want him to know the truth.

"She's the human that I am telling you." He said that, and I nodded.

"Alpha," Cane's mate said. I looked at her and smiled.

"You have a new staff member."

"Yes, Alpha. Please do not worry. She's harmless. She was actually abused by her stepfather and ran away." She explained. "She was not talking to anyone either and didn't want to get close to her co-workers either."

I nodded my head, and I felt sorry for her. She's a human, so she couldn't feel the bond, but there was something in me that felt the pain of being rejected. Although it was indirect, the fact that I knew that she was mine and that she was taking me for granted hurt me and my wolf.

I looked at her once again, hoping she'd look my way, but she didn't. "Alpha, we have to hurry." Reeves said, and I sighed and decided to leave the diner with a heavy heart. I had to if I wanted her to be safe. Maybe it's for the best that she's a human and will never know what we are with each other. I will just find her after I find my siblings and kill the vampire king.
