Chapter 4
As Sky walked out on Sage, Sage watched her go with a smug smile on her face. She knew that Skyler was too proud to back down. She sensed trouble and she knew that this fight would only make her more determined to deal with Skyler. Sage had plans and her plans included making Skyler’s life a living h**l – she wasn’t going to let Skyler go scout free.
Without wasting a moment, Sage pulled out her phone and dialed a number. “Hey, it’s me,” she said when the call connected. “I need you to do something for me as soon as possible.”
She quickly explained the situation to the person on the other end of the line and asked them to send a message to Caleb telling him to come to the Grand Hall immediately to see Skyler.
And within minutes, Sage received a response confirming that the message had been received, and she couldn’t help but smile. This was going to be perfect. She was determined to ruin Skyler’s life and she would go to any length to see it through.
As Sage made her way out of the Grand Hall, she knew that her plan was already in motion. Skyler had no idea what was coming.
Sage walked briskly through the streets as her heart raced with anticipation. It was only a matter of time before Skyler found out that she had been discovered by Caleb.
Caleb was taking a leisure stroll in his well-manicured garden, enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful scenery around him. The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows across the ground.
The soft rustling of leaves and the chirping of birds provided a calming background noise, but his mind was restless. He had been searching for Skyler and the rogues that escaped with her for weeks now, but they had vanished without a trace.
Well, that was until now.
As he rounded a corner, he saw one of his guards approaching him. Caleb could see that the man’s face was serious, which immediately put him on edge. “What is it?” he asked with a firm voice.
“Good day Alpha, I am so sorry to bother you,” the guard said, bowing his head. “But I have important news. Skyler has been found. She’s in the Grand Hall as we speak.”
Caleb’s heart skipped a beat at the mention of Skyler’s name. “Are you sure?” he asked, his voice laced with disbelief.
“Yes, Alpha,” the guard replied. “She’s in the Grand Hall right now. I was told that she does some menial jobs there.”
Caleb’s mind began to race with thoughts of what to do next. He knew that he had to act fast before she could escape again. “Quickly gather five of my best Betas,” he commanded. “We will be going to the Grand Hall to see her for ourselves. Go now!!”
And after a few minutes, the group made their way to the Grand Hall, where Skyler was said to be found.
Caleb stepped into the Grand Hall, accompanied by his five trusted Betas. The vast room was silent, save for the sound of his boots tapping against the polished marble floor. His sharp eyes scanned the area, searching for a particular person. He knew Skyler was in the building somewhere, and he had to find her.
As he turned his head, he spotted her at the far corner of the hall, her back hunched over a mop. She was cleaning the floor, her movements slow and methodical.
Caleb’s lips curved into a sinister smile. He had been waiting for this moment for a long time. He wanted so badly to teach Skyler a lesson for breaking out and escaping from the rogue’s unit – he longed to see her cry and beg for his mercy as he dealt with her.
“Go get her now,” he instructed his Betas, his voice low and menacing. “And make sure she doesn’t escape.”
Without a word, the Betas broke away from Caleb and started towards Skyler. They walked with a purpose, their steps heavy against the floor.
Skyler sensed their presence and turned around and her eyes widened in fear as she saw the Betas walking toward her.
“Oh no. What do they want from me? Why are they walking toward me?” Skyler muttered to herself as she scanned around the Grand Hall.
Caleb smiled from where he was standing and watched with satisfaction as the Betas got closer and closer to Skyler.
Skyler tensed up and her heart sank as she recognized Caleb standing behind the Betas. She knew what this meant – punishment for trying to escape the Rogue’s unit. She immediately realized that she was in trouble.
Without hesitation, she bolted out of the hall, her feet pounding against the marble floor. Her heart was racing, and her breath came out in gasps as she ran as fast as she could. However, her body was weak and malnourished after five long years of imprisonment in the rogue’s unit, and she could feel her legs starting to give out.
But Skyler kept pushing herself to run faster because her life was on the line. She could hear the Betas closing in on her so she kept running. Her chest was tight with fear, and she could feel tears prickling at the corner of her eyes. She was trapped, and there was nowhere left to run.
But just as she thought that it was all over, she spotted an abandoned house in the forest ahead of her. She ran towards it, her heart pounding in her chest. As she darted inside, she took a moment to catch her breath, feeling relieved that she had managed to get away from Caleb and his Betas.
However, her relief was short-lived, as she suddenly felt someone’s hand cover her mouth from behind, muffling her screams.
Her heart raced with terror as she realized that she wasn’t alone in the abandoned house. Who was it that had caught her, and what did they want from her? The suspense was palpable, and Skyler’s mind raced with fear and uncertainty.
