Chapter 5
Skyler’s heart was pounding so hard in her chest that she could hardly catch her breath when a strange hand clamped over her mouth, muffling her scream. She felt the person’s hot breath on her ear and tried to struggle to free herself from the grip, but the grip was too strong. Sky felt like she was in a nightmare that she couldn’t wake up from.
Trembling uncontrollably, Skyler’s eyes welled up with tears as she realized that she was being dragged out of the abandoned house.
She felt her body being pulled along the dusty floor until she was pressed up against a warm and hard chest.
Despite the fear that was pulsing through her body, she tried to muster up the courage to fight back. But her limbs felt like they were made of jelly, and she could barely move.
As she was being dragged into the thick and dark forest, Skyler could feel her heart pounding harder and harder in her chest. She tried to plead with the stranger to let her go, but the hand over her mouth made it impossible to form any words that made sense. She was helpless and completely at the mercy of her captor.
The scent of the man’s wolf was vaguely familiar to Skyler, but she couldn’t quite place it. She struggled to see his face, but it was too dark to make out any features. The fear that was pulsing through her body made it difficult to focus on anything except the realization that she was completely alone and trapped with this stranger.
As they continued to move deeper into the forest, Skyler felt a sense of despair wash over her. Her tears flowed like a river down her face, as she wondered what was going to happen to her. She felt so scared. She began to pray that someone would come to her rescue before it was too late.
As Skyler thought about what was going to happen to her if she did nothing, fear gripped her – she didn’t want to die in a forest at the hands of a stranger. She began to regret running away from Caleb and his men.
She tried again to struggle with all her might against the man who was dragging her, but it was no use – she was extremely weak and the stranger, whoever he was, was too strong for her weak and limp body to resist.
Her eyes darted around frantically, searching for any escape from this nightmare. But all she could see were the shadowy tall trees looming over her as if they were silently watching her terror unfold.
More intense tears streamed down Skyler’s face as she realized the hopelessness of her situation. She was at the mercy of this cruel stranger, and there was nothing she could do to fight back. She felt so weak and helpless, like a puppet being dragged along by an unseen hand.
The man continued to drag her down until they got to a hidden alley, and Skyler’s fear only intensified. She had never felt so alone and vulnerable in her entire life. Her mind raced with all the worst possible scenarios that could happen to her in this dark and secluded place.
The strange man however continued to drag her deeper into the alley, and Skyler’s heart sank as she realized that she might never make it out alive. The darkness seemed to close in around her, suffocating her with its cold embrace. All she could do now was pray for a miracle, or for someone to wake her up from this nightmare.
Skyler’s fear was mixed with confusion as she tried to figure out who he was and what he wanted from her. But the darkness was so thick and it concealed his features, leaving Skyler to wonder about the man’s identity and his intentions.
As they emerged from the valley, the moonlight revealed the man’s face, and Skyler’s eyes widened in recognition. It was Orion, one of the rogues she had freed on her daring escape from the rogue’s unit. She had never forgotten his face, nor the silver eyes that were now staring at her with an icy intensity.
Skyler’s mind raced as she tried to figure out what Orion wanted from her. She remembered that he had been one of the most dangerous rogues, with a reputation for being merciless and ruthless. If he had come after her, there was no telling what he was capable of.
But then she remembered that she had helped him escape, and a glimmer of hope flickered within her. Maybe he wasn’t here to hurt her. Maybe he was here to repay her for her kindness.
As Orion’s scarred face loomed closer, Skyler could see the tension in his muscles, the coiled energy that suggested he was ready for anything. But then he spoke, and his voice was surprisingly gentle.
“Skyler,” he said, his voice low and gravelly. “I’m here to help you.”
Skyler’s eyes widened in surprise as she heard those words. She couldn’t believe that this dangerous rogue was here to help her.
The cool night air nipped at Sky’s skin as she tried to wriggle free from Orion’s firm grip – she didn’t trust that he wanted to help her. Fear was etched on her face as she struggled against him. She had heard stories of his violence while in the rouge’s unit and she wasn’t willing to take any chances.
As she twisted and turned, trying to break free from his hold, Orion’s deep voice cut through the stillness of the night. “I’m not going to hurt you,” he said firmly, his voice ringing with authority. “Just calm down and listen to me.”
Sky’s eyes darted back and forth, searching for a way out, but she knew she couldn’t outrun him. Slowly, she began to relax, her muscles no longer tensed up. Orion’s grip loosened, and he gestured for her to follow him.
He led her to a hidden entrance, hidden behind a thicket of bushes. As they entered, Sky’s eyes widened in surprise. The tunnel was vast, its walls lined with glowing blue crystals that cast an eerie glow over the space. Orion walked ahead of her, his steps sure and steady as if he knew the way.
As they walked deeper into the tunnel, Sky couldn’t help but feel a sense of trepidation. What was this place? Why had Orion brought her here? Her mind raced with questions, but she didn’t dare ask them. Not yet.
Finally, they arrived at a large cavern. Orion turned to her, his silver eyes boring into hers. “Welcome to our base,” he said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
Sky’s heart raced with anxiety and fear. What was going on? What was Orion planning? Why did he bring her here? And how could she possibly escape this strange, underground tunnel?
