Chapter 03

I was driving for hours into the depth of Zealand until it was late and now I was covered with trees and thick forest.

I had my luggage in the booth, I had to be prepared for anything.

I stopped the car when I met a roadblock, I hit my fist on the wheel furiously.

“Fuck!” I swept my hair off my face and tied them behind my hair.

I must’ve taken it the wrong way. I came out of the car and shut the door behind me.

“How I’m going to get out of here, I think I’m lost.”

I didn’t know anymore, I couldn’t believe I was going back here, to the place I swore never to come back to.

The pack has to be somewhere here, but I couldn’t tell the exact direction and now I was facing a roadblock.

I have to drive back, I kicked my car tire in annoyance only to hurt my toe.

Argh!

“I hate this, I hate it all!” I murmured with a sniff, I was heading back to the car when I heard snarling around me.

I froze and gulped nervously, the low growl became louder. I held my hands in the air, but I know it wasn’t gonna help me against rogues that are lay in ambush. But I wanted to let them know I wasn’t any enemy.

‘Kill them when they get close’ Maya my wolf growled.

I didn’t know if it was a good thing to hear from her after I’d shut her out for years.

She must have hated me for being so cruel.

They came out from the woods, five huge wolves, baring their teeth at me. I leaned further into the car. In to find out what was happening.

Maya was tensed and ready to make an appearance if necessary, growling apprehensively at whatever threat she perceived.

“Sam?” The voice startled me.

“It’s you right? Samara?” The voice said again, I was tempted to look at the man who called me among the wolves.

I was startled to find him in front of me, examining me with those hazel eyes. He looked over at my car to be sure I was alone.

He was tall and muscular and had a mustache, he was on black pants and black sleeves.

He smiled showing off his dimpled cheek.

“It’s you, Sam. Am I right?” His smile broadens. He runs his hands over his hair in disbelief.

”Xylan?” I called to be sure. I was able to see his face through the headlight from my car.

“You remembered.” He extended his hands for a handshake when I refused to take them. He inserted them back into his pocket.

“Retreat, she’s one of us.” He waved at the wolves and they darted back into the woods.

“This is our territory, I couldn’t believe I would find you here.”

I must have been in the right way.

“You came back, I thought I would never see you again.”

He was Vlad's best friend in the pack, and they had always been together. I think they still are.

“How long has it been, eight years? You were eighteen when you left, you looked so different now. I mean in a good way don’t get me wrong, you were...” He was staring at me intently with an amusing grin.

“Where’s Vlad?” I looked around, I guess I wasn’t far from the pack. I wasn’t here for a long talk.

“Oh you came for Vlad, I had almost attacked you earlier.” He was carefree, it was easy for them to forget what they did to me, but I will never.

“Take me to him,” I said sternly.

“Is that your car, I’ll take you there. But you’re not gonna address him as Vlad anymore. And he’s not the same person you left behind.” He reached out to the car door and glanced at me over his shoulders.

“It’s good that rumors weren’t real.”

What rumors? I murmured to myself and scoffed, I opened the car, got in and shut the door, and fastened my seat belt while Xylan drove.

Vlad rejected me as his mate after he slept with me, he humiliated me in this Pack.

Because I was an orphan and was said to have killed my foster father.

They had no idea what he did to me, Vlad only sees me as a speck of dirt and I was unfit to be by his side as his fated mate.

They never wanted me, that was how I flee from the pack, devastated and wanted to kill myself and I find out I was pregnant.

“We are here.” Xylan’s voice broke into my thoughts and I stared at the sign that says welcome to Crimson Pack.

He drove in, and I lay my head on the car seat.

“It’s good to see you again, Sam.” He grinned wildly. Looking at him I felt nothing but disgust. Like I had no idea how he was seven years ago and how he treated me was no different from the others.

I took my lips in with my jaw clenched and looked away from him.

“I know you hate me but that was years ago, and I...” I saw his eyes glint with guilt.

“Save it. Xylan.” I waved at him dismissively.

It was my sons that matter, I’ll put them first. Vlad is the only one that could help me, and Xylan too.

He parked the car on the lawn, and we came down. I stared at the gorgeous mansions awash with gold, beautiful decor.

There was light all around it, which lit up the place. The guards bowed at Xylan and he gestured for me to follow him.

We got to the front porch, and Vlad was pacing in front with his hands clasped behind his body.

His height was intimidating compared to my 5’4, broad shoulders, and perfectly toned body.

He spun around, and I saw his face, I could see my sons in them.

His dark creamy hair, deep-set gunmetal blue with a glint of green, and that was his wolf sitting behind those eyes. I took my gaze down to his pointed nose and thin lips and squared jaw.

Vlad was different, the aura around him was terrifying and it was making me bare my neck in submission.

He wasn’t the young adult he was from then,  this man was different, his dark gaze and his stunning appearance.

“This is Alpha Vlad of Crimson Pack.”
