Chapter 04

~Vlad Hayes~

I was working over some paperwork in the office. I had to take care of some pack business and my arranged mate, and have a date fixed for the binding ceremony.

It’s been years since I was left without a mate after I rejected mine, the year after I lost my parents when the pack was attacked. And my brother who was to be Alpha.

And I became the Alpha, which I was never prepared for, it happened so quickly and responsibility was thrown over my shoulders.

I was filled with emptiness, anger and hatred, and a sole desire to kill and hunt rogues.

I become one of the most dreaded Alpha, so powerful that I made small and large packs bow at my feet and pay homage to me.

But within lies the fear of not being able to protect the ones I loved. And I’ll never stop blaming myself for what happened to my family.

Xylan’s voice came up through the mind link making me groan in annoyance.

“I told you I do not want to be disturbed, Xylan.” I snarled at the mind link.

“So shut it out.”

“It’s Samara.” He blurts out before I could shut him out of the mind link.

“She’s here, I don’t know why or how but she’s right in front of me, she drove here and was kinda lost our men were able to attack her but...” He trailed off.

The pen in my hands stopped working, I dropped them and the room fell silent as if the time has stopped ticking.

Samara was here?

“I’m bringing her to your house, she wants to meet you.” He announced.

“What do you mean she’s here? Is this some kind of joke!” I growled at him.

“We’ll be there in five and you’re gonna see for yourself. I couldn’t believe it was her either.”

She was alive?

Didn’t the news of her death spread around the pack?

And now she was here? It didn’t seem so real to me.

I pulled my coat from the rack and wore them over. And walked out of the study room, and went outside. I was desperate. I didn’t know why?

Where had she been all these years?

I wanted to see her again.

Samara was alive.

I raked my fingers over my hair, while I waited outside in front of the porch. My palms felt clammy as I waited, and in just a while, a car drove into the lawn and Xylan came down.

Samara was a young lady now sophisticated and beautiful, her brown eyes and well-proportioned figures.

I never knew she would grow to look this beautiful.

Samara from years back won’t dare to look me in the eye and the lady in front of me was glaring at me directly in the eye, and those gazes were quite intimidating and I had to look away.

She was bold.

I was too astonished to speak.

“This is Alpha Vlad of Crimson Pack.” Xylan introduces and stepped backward.

“Alpha?” She mouthed without taking her eyes away from my face.

“What brings you here?” We were seated in the living room and she was being served tea which she rejected.

“Drink them, it’s not poisoned, I’ve no intention of having you killed but I won’t hesitate to do that if you prove a threat.” My voice was cold and toneless, devoid of any emotions.

“Give her the tea, she seems exhausted.” I gestured back to the servant. She bowed and gave it back to her. Samara took them and chugged it all down and let the mug slip from her hand falling on the ground.

I stared at her with a furrowed brow.

“Just to let you know, I didn’t leave a drop.” She said plainly, though her jaw was clenched.

“Fair enough.” I glanced over at Xylan, he could feel the tension between us.

“So why did you come back to Crimson Pack and my house, you wanted to see me, what for, revenge?” I asked with my legs crossed and slowly sip from the tea.

There must be a reason she’s here.

She scoffed and averted her gaze from my face and searched through her bag, she took out a phone.

I watched her in silence wondering what she was up to.

“Here.” She shoved the phone into my face, I glared at her and took them from her hands.

It was a picture of three boys which I guess was triplet because they looked so alike and the only difference was the color of their eyes.

Xylan came to my side and stared at the picture and we both stared at each other.

“Who are they? Why do they have a striking resemblance with you?” Xylan my Beta asked, through the mind link.

I moved my head sideways, I have no idea.

“Is find some kind of game, Samara?”

Why did they look so much like me?

“The one with the green eyes is Lex, he’s the eldest of the triplet and in the middle, Lois with the charming blue eyes, and Lincoln, with the brown eyes is the last. They are your sons.” Her voice was quavering as she speaks and was about to break down in tears, her hands were shaking even when she tried to keep them at her side.

“This is no game, their lives are at stake, they don’t know anything! They’ve done no wrong.” She cried.

“They are five years old and they’ll be turning six in a few months and now...” She couldn’t hold back the tears and she fell on her knees.

“Help me, Vlad. I mean Alpha Vlad,” She clasped her hands together.

“We need to find them.” She sounded desperate.

I couldn’t understand what was going on right now.

Xylan looked confused just like me.

I have a son and it wasn’t just one but three and I had no idea and they’re about to be six years old and I never knew they existed!

How?

“How?” I voiced out my thoughts.

“What do you mean how? You slept with me, have you forgotten!”

“How can I be so sure they are mine?” I frowned at her. “...am I the only one who fucked, didn’t your foster father...” I felt her hand strike against my cheek before the words could fall out of my mouth.

“Samara!” I growled deeply at her.

“What more do you need? A DNA test? Look and tell me these boys don’t look like you. Tell me Vlad and I’ll walk through that door and you’ll never see me again.” She threatened.

I glared furiously at her, I was seething but I don’t know why my chest was hurting.

I stared at the picture again, they’ve got my hair, the same eyes, and everything. They were the younger version of me when I was a kid.

There was a portrait of my parents and I hung on the wall when I looked over at it and back at the little boys.

I couldn’t deny it.

These boys are my sons.

They are mine.
