Panic
Sophia POV
The hours went by very quickly, between one play and another I looked at Perseus' information and wrote it down next to the tablet and also held myself back from screaming. There were many critics, both positive and negative and the crowd had fun, but as I expected, the crowd betrayed me and my character ended up dead. Hyperion asked me some questions about the rules and the history of the characters, but nothing that interfered with the game.
It was interesting to see a man like that interested in something like that, but well, let's face it, many wealthy and powerful people gamble, actors and actresses in Hollywood.
“You do know that the next campaign is mine and that it will be Cthulhu!” Warned.
“Er… I think we have to go to sleep. Goodbye!" Vic
Everyone else nodded and then got off the call, I rolled my eyes and let out a low chuckle.
“This is fun. You guys get into the characters.”
“Well, that is the intention.” I put the laptop on the other armchair and sat up and felt my head throbbing. “Um… Food.” I took the chocolate bar out of my pocket and bit into it.
I looked at the machine, there's still an hour to go before the hemodialysis session ends.
“Since everything looks fine, I'm going to go down and get something to eat, I'm going to ask the nurse on duty to come and stay with him.”
"I'm hungry too, is there anything good in the cafeteria?"
“Look, it's dawn, there's not much going on, but it's better than nothing.”
“Hum…Hum…”
"Ahahaha! I just imagined you with a bag of chips and a can of Coke. It doesn't match, but it's funny."
"I agree." I saw him get up, go to the door and open it. “Maybe I should have it delivered.”
"Only if it's for you, I'm fine." I walked out of the room.
As I walked away from the room I felt my body getting heavier, a feeling inside my chest, squeezing and twisting my heart, at the same time it felt like tiny needles were piercing my brain. I should bend over in pain, shouldn't I? Complaining about this is normal, but if it's something I am, I'm used to pain, it's my inseparable friend.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, bringing my left hand to my eyes, placing the tips of my fingers over the eyelid and squeezing lightly.
“Um… I need to eat something. I hate migraines.”
I spoke more to myself than to Hyperion.
"Are you well?" I heard the question in a worried tone.
“Migraine crisis. Normal, I've had it since I was a kid and when I don't eat for a long time it tends to get worse.”
I took a few deep breaths and opened my eyes again.
“Just take an ibuprofen and eat something and in half an hour it goes away.”
I got into the elevator and pressed for cafeteria floor 3, which was the closest to the floor we were on.
“I understand, but does it always happen?”
“Before it was more frequent and stronger, I already had a lot of nosebleeds because of it. We get used to it, it's not something that will kill me.”
“You talk so matter-of-factly about it, it seems like everyone does the same thing.”
“When you have a chronic illness, it's better to get used to it, it's not like me to complain about things I can't finish. I've already done some treatments for it, today the pain is bearable, annoying, but bearable. Besides, it has a nice advantage, I don't have a hangover, no matter how much I drink, the next day I always wake up feeling good, without a hangover.”
"You don't seem like the type to drink a lot."
“I like to drink spirits and variations, caipirinha, tequila, whiskey, hi-fi, strawberry vodka, sake, and so on… But since I take prescription medication, I don't drink all the time, but it's always nice to drink. “
“You and my son would get along well in that regard, he doesn’t like fermented drinks either.”
“Apart from wine, I love wine. Wine is good.”
“He only likes hard liquor.”
“I get it, my friends prefer beers and wines.”
All this conversation took place as we walked to the cafeteria. The place was almost empty, some people worked the night shift there and who were having dinner. I greeted everyone and went to the cafeteria, there was even a big option to choose from.
“A shredded chicken sandwich, a passion fruit juice with milk and a chocolate bar.”
I placed my order and saw that Hyperion had taken two meat and smoothie sandwiches. I walked to the cashier and made the payment, sat at one of the tables and waited for the head of the Horoux family. The more time I spent with him, the more relaxed I became because he didn't seem like the other similarly positioned ones I'd encountered.
We talked about a few more things and then we went back to the room, there was still another half hour to finish the procedure with Perseus, so I took advantage of the moment to update myself on the other patients and on the team of nurses who were under my management.
There were too many reports to read, fill out, sign and ask for a review, approval or denial. It wasn't one of the best moments of my work, but it was something that needed to be done, when I heard the alarm clock beep, I put the tablet aside. I warned the doctor on duty and waited for him before turning off the machine and doing other things.
It didn't take long and Daniel entered the room.
“Good evening, Lord Hyperion. Sophia, I hope you are well.”
“Good evening, Doctor Daniel.”
“Good night, Dan, and I am, thank you.”
Daniel is a man, 1.83 tall, about 75 kilos, he usually works out when he has time, and has short blond hair, and dark brown eyes that matched his tanned skin.
“Even if there was a little blood missing, everything was fine.”
Daniel commented approaching the machine and we started to do the procedure to turn off and remove the accesses from Perseus' body.
“Most of the silver came out with the old blood. I see no reason why your son won't wake up soon."
I took a small ampoule of Perseus's blood and placed it in the collector.
“We are going to have his blood tested, but the results of the data that were collected throughout the night already show a good recovery.”
I felt my heart warm with the doctor's words, not that I hadn't already seen Perseus's evolution, but listening to someone else talk was different. It was almost as if a weight had been lifted off of me. Was I so excited to get back to my normal routine that taking care of this family was a burden?
“Glad to hear that!” Hyperion commented as he hugged the doctor, but his eyes were also on me.
“Richard should be here in five minutes to replace you, Soph,” Daniel informed me
"Thanks." I thanked him and gave a short bow to Hyperion. “Well, see you tomorrow then,” I spoke and left the room, without giving the man a chance to say anything.
I walked to the exit of that floor and when I was getting close to the elevator I saw Richard approaching.
“Hey, Soph, goodnight girl, you need to get some rest. He looks like he died and forgot to go to bed.” Richard joked.
“I agree, I need a good sleep. See you tomorrow, take care of everything huh!” replied
"Goodbye!"
I got into the elevator, went down to the ground floor and went to the employees' part, I got to my locker and leaned back a little, the more I walked away the more my chest got heavy, I could feel the shortness of breath increasing little by little and my mouth dry, my body tensing, it was almost like a panic attack, but different.
It's like I can't stay away, every part of my body screaming at me to get back and stay in that room as if the time I spent there ignoring his intoxicating scent had been dumped on me and was now overwhelming me.
I could hear my heart beating very quickly, the blood pressure in my ear made me listen to it, while my mind is invaded by images that I have no control over, they are fast and make me dizzy, but they all involve being in Perseus's arms.
I forced my body to move beyond squeezing my chest, trying to open my closet, realizing that I dropped several things while trying to get my medicine inside my bag, I needed to come back to reality, come back to myself and get out of this trance that consumes me.
I don't know what happened, I just know there's a strong, bitter taste in my mouth and I think that's the medicine, the pain in my head won't let me see beyond shadows, and besides, my stiff body can't register the comfort of something.
.
.
.
“Soph…” I can hear someone calling my name in the distance.
I finally manage to start to get out of this spiral of emotions and senses, the impression I have is that I'm swimming against a current.
“Arg…” I let out a low moan, feeling my body start to relax.
"Phew! She's already coming back."
I start to open my eyes and close them, trying to focus my vision, taking several deep breaths, my senses are coming back little by little.
“Good thing I work in a hospital.”
I manage to speak in a low voice, my voice is hoarse and my mouth is dry.
"Water…"
I'm sitting on the floor with my head leaning against the locker room locker, in front of me I can identify three figures, one wearing a nursing coat, one wearing a medical coat and another social clothes. I can smell a soft smell, but I can't identify it yet.
A bottle of water is handed to me open, I take it to my mouth, closing my eyes again, I only take two short sips, just to wet my mouth and vocal cords. I take a few deep breaths.
"I'll be fine."
My voice is firmer and I can feel my head spinning less and so I open my eyes again. Now I can see that in front of me is a nurse with black hair, dark green eyes and dark skin, she is kneeling in front of me, holding my hands, massaging them, her expression is one of concern and relief. A little further back on the left side is Doctor Daniel, he has loose hair that goes down to his shoulders, a physical build with fewer muscles, his eyes are a deep black tone, an irritated expression, but not irritated with me. On the right side, I find AchillesLykaios, wearing a social sports outfit, the smell of oak moss, mixed with orange blossom and sandalwood in the background came from him.
Our eyes finally met and it was like the rest of the world disappeared, they were a dark gray with light gray streaks and there were two circles around them, they were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen.
Achilles has a relaxed posture, but his eyes show a conflict that I can't identify, at least not looking, but I can feel that he wants to protect me, that he's relieved that I'm back, that he's holding back from running over the doctor. and the nurse to pick me up and wrap me in his arms and now I long for him to do that.
I want to scream to let me go with this man who looks like a demigod and even though the request didn't leave my lips, I realized he knew what I was thinking, this desire that burns and starts to consume me. I can feel my breasts becoming more sensitive as a wave of heat begins to spread downwards, reaching my belly and then down until it finds the center of my body. Involuntarily I squeeze my legs, wanting to feel something to relieve that pressure that builds, making my inner walls throb.
It's not a pleasure-built-up piecemeal, rather it was primal, wild, mindless. I only know that the longer I keep looking at Achilles, the more my body begs and begs for me to touch it, to be touched. My body doesn't mind if Achilles just throws me to the ground and buries himself inside me here and now, it wants it.
A loud growl echoes from Achilles' perfect lips as his eyes grow darker, changing hue slightly, they seem to glow silver now and for a second I thought he was going to pick me up off the ground and take me with him, but I saw his body spin and he comes out of the locker room.
This movement was like a bucket of ice water on me and the feeling of rejection took over as quickly as the pleasure I had felt before. I shook my head from side to side, trying to clear my thoughts, get a grip, and get back to reality.
“Sophia, you better go lie down.” I heard Daniel talking to me. “We can take you to the break room or I can order an Uber for you to go home. You need to rest, these extra shifts are only making your situation worse.”
“Thank you, Dan. I'm going to rest."
I smiled weakly at him, this whole situation had drained my energy. I wanted my home now, to crawl into my bed and sleep for several days if possible, but I felt my stomach churning knowing Joshua was there waiting for me.
"But I don't think I can go home now."
"OK, I get it." Daniel held out his hand to me.
I took her and with the help of the nurse I managed to stand, I took a deep breath, feeling my head spin.
“Sorry Soph, but it will be faster.”
I heard Daniel's words and soon after I feel that I'm lifted and I'm in his arms, I can feel the eagerness and dizziness taking over, but I try to control them.
"Thanks." It's the only word I can say.
"No problem."
It wasn't long before we arrived in one of the bedrooms and I felt the soft mattress against me.
