Breakfast
Sophia POV
Alexander spoke and started walking toward a corridor that was on the right side, I followed him unhurriedly, with my hands in my pockets. We stopped in front of room 803, he took a card from his pocket, opened the door and handed me the card.
I went into my room, it was quite large, almost the size of my living room, the whole room was decorated in glass and black wood supports, while the floor had a light gray marble and under the king-size bed there was a rug in darker grey. With minimalist and modern touches, were the other rooms the same? Because it looked like that place had been decorated for me, the colors were what I liked the most and I didn't like anything fancy. To say that I liked my room was an understatement, I was loving it. On the left side, there were two doors, probably one for the closet and one for the bathroom.
“Thank you, you are excused.”
I told him and turned to watch him leave.
"Sophia... It's not that I..." I noticed that Alexander was watching me intently and now he was a little uncomfortable. “After Mister Hyperion talks to you… Then you'll understand why I walked away.”
Alexander let out a long sigh and ran his hands through his hair as if he wanted to say more, but something stopped him.
“He forbade you to flirt with me? Or are you the one who feels uncomfortable about it? Or both?” I asked looking at him carefully. "Or is it that you have someone and I made you uncomfortable?"
"No! I don't have anyone… But yes, I feel uncomfortable, because I think you're amazing and I'm jealous of him…” Alexander stopped talking and turned his face away. “Look, Sophia, if it was just me… Yeah, I sure would love to go out with you, but it's complicated.”
“You know I'm free, right?" I smirked but shrugged. "If it has to do with you not being able to be with me because of work, no problem... Just don't be an idiot, okay? on you, if it's going to complicate your work, I'm not stupid."
“It's something like that, I can't give you more details…” Alexander took one last deep breath and then turned towards the door. “There's a phone next to the bed so you can talk to reception.”
"Thanks."
I thanked him and went towards the bathroom door, took off my cap and started to let go of my hair, which is short, cut in a layered way up to a little below the ears, my body is well shaped, and I usually practice martial arts, so I'm always on my toes. exercising, my breasts are not big and not too small, in fact when I had plastic surgery I even asked to make them smaller, because I hate big breasts, now they fit in my hand perfectly and that's the way I like it.
I went into the bathroom and noticed a box further back with a shower, while a little further ahead a bathtub, on the other side, there is a small mirror and below a closet, a little ahead an access door to the closet and on the side a mirror big full body. The floor is one marble darker, the walls a light gray tone with accents in dark blue. All minimalist and without much information, matching the room.
I took a quick shower, without washing my hair, went to the closet and saw that my suitcase was there, closed, I smiled knowing that my things hadn't been touched without permission. I put her on top of one of the benches, opened it and took off some pajamas, went back to the bedroom and threw myself on the bed, finally, I set the alarm for 7 am and it didn't take long for me to fall asleep.
……
I woke up with the sound of the alarm clock, I wanted to stay a few more minutes in bed, but probably if I stayed then I would only wake up in the afternoon. I dragged myself out of bed, and without thinking twice I went to take a shower to wake up, it took me exactly 15 minutes because I heard my alarm. The good thing about being someone who had no organization at all, after a few years of therapy, now everything I did was controlled by a cell phone application, I set the exact time to start the day, the time to shower, get ready, have breakfast medicine, have breakfast and so on. This is what helped me reach the rank of head nurse, as after a while I got used to these things, but I still kept the application.
I got out of the shower and went to the closet, picked up an outfit that I could wear to the gym afterward, picked up matte black leggings with bright spaced geometric designs, a dark blue shirt, with sleeves that went down to my wrist, made of very soft fabric, a black sneaker with navy blue geometric details. I let my hair down, it was short anyway, and it only came down to my ears, I put on face cream and took a small handbag, which had a small black towel, enough to dry the sweat from my face during the exercise, I put my cell phone, the wireless headset, my small wallet that only has my three cards, a debit card from the bank and a credit card and now the one from the room, a little money and my documents, I didn't forget to put the portable charger, since my cell phone was low on battery, given the fact that I didn't put it to charge at night. To finish, I used one of my favorite perfumes with a floral and soft touch.
I walked out of the room, swiped the card to lock the room and started heading towards the entrance, the hall I had seen before, the place seems to be empty, if it weren't for the sound of running footsteps echoing behind me, someone seemed late.
"License…"
The voice was that of a boy, a teenager, I looked back and saw that it was a boy who must have been about 16 years old, with dark brown hair, shaved on the sides, with the musculature of someone who always trained and was wearing what it looked like a training uniform, black sweatpants with the Houroux family symbol, a white T-shirt of very light fabric, ending with white and black sneakers, made for racing.
I smiled slightly and stepped in front of him, making him lose his balance trying to dodge me and hit the wall lightly.
“Sorry, but like, I’m new around here,” I explained, laughing softly and saw the boy turn red, maybe angry?
“I’m already late!” His voice was louder than necessary, actually indicating that he was nervous.
“What if I told you I had a good excuse for you being late?” I reached out to him. “Sophia Turner.”
I introduced myself and noticed that he was studying me now as if he were coming to some conclusion.
“Is… Um… Jack Miller.”
“Okay, Jack, nice to meet you. Can you tell me where the kitchen is? I haven't had breakfast yet and I don't think you have either."
“I'm going to get screwed later…” Jack sighed as if giving up and accepting fate.
“Look, depending on whether I can talk to Hyperion… I need someone to help me get around here. What about? You get rid of any punishment for being late and I get someone to be my guide.”
I could see Jack's eyes widen when I mentioned Hyperion's name, again showing that there was a hierarchy there and I was breaking it in some way. As if he was forgetting to mention the title Hyperion held within the family.
“Do you speak directly with Councilor Alpha Hyperion?”
Jack asked me and I smirked, I wanted to laugh out loud, I got one of the information I needed naturally. So the biggest title was Alpha? What's more, there was a post before.
“Well, he was the one who invited me here,” I answered calmly.
“Oh wow!” Jack looked excited now, most likely at the prospect of doing something the boss would enjoy. “Okay, you want to have breakfast, don't you?”
“I prefer the kitchen, I like to prepare my food.” Sophia
“Okay, okay, come with me,” Jack said and I followed him through some corridors and soon we were in the kitchen, it wasn't very big, there were three refrigerators, some cupboards, a 6-burner stove and 4 microwaves. There were three women there, one older and two who looked to be Jack's age.
"Good morning!" I said smiling and nodding. “My name is Sophia Miller, can you help me?” I introduced myself.
“Breakfast time is over!” The older woman answered and looked at Jack. “You should have already gone to train!”
I noticed that the girls and Jack were apprehensive.
“I'm glad breakfast time is over because I didn't come here to ask you to make my coffee.” My smile faded and I walked to one of the refrigerators and opened it, taking out a box with some eggs, I took the butter and cheese, leaving it on the counter by the stove. “How about scrambled eggs and cheese, Jack?” I asked quietly, without turning around.
“I'm in charge of the kitchen! On this floor!” The older woman came towards me and I could feel that somehow she was trying to scare me, to make herself present.
"As long as I'm on this floor, you're excused," I spoke each word slowly, while I took the frying pan and turned on the stove, starting to heat and melt the butter.
"You! Who do you think you are? It's just a hu…” The woman started screaming.
“She is a guest of Councilor Alpha Hyperion!” Jack interrupted the woman and I could feel her take a few steps back.
“I… I'm sorry… I didn't know… I wasn't…” The woman tried to apologize.
“Tsi… Why did I bother to come here?” I asked myself quietly, starting to break the eggs into the pan, I put it on low heat to give me time to cut the pieces of cheese.
I was putting myself in situations I didn't feel comfortable with, with people I despised and not being able to escape depending on someone else. I had a good life, I had friends, a great job and I was free, so why did I trade everything to come here? Knowing that a lot would change? Had it been a good idea to accept Hyperion's proposal?
As I thought about all this breakfast was ready, I had made scrambled eggs with cheese and bread on the griddle, I served a plate to Jack and got another one for myself.
“Um, you are very thoughtful, did something happen?” Jack asked me with genuine interest.
“Lots of things, but nothing for you to worry about,” I replied smiling and took the cutlery and started to eat.
Jack let out a groan of pleasure as he ate my breakfast, I was happy with that, that boy's reactions were genuine.
"This here! You can win Masterchef now!" Jack spoke with his mouth full and I gave a low chuckle.
I finished eating and washed all the dishes while Jack dried and put them away since the women who were there had left.
“Well, what now?” Jack asked me.
"Academy!" I spoke.
I followed Jack through other corridors, but never left that floor, and soon we arrived at the gym, it was a large room, there were some bodybuilding instruments, treadmills and bicycles, I took my cell phone and the charger, looked for an outlet and turned it on. In addition to tidying up the playlist.
“I'll be here for two hours. But it's excused, now I know how to walk, I won't get lost.” I told Jack before putting on my wireless headphones.
"All good! It was great to know you! And thanks for helping me with the lateness issue!” Jack thanked him and ran off.
I smirked and went to the treadmill, turning on the sound.
For two hours I stayed inside that room, immersed in the music I was listening to and letting my mind wander, this way I could rest my mind and exercise at the same time. I noticed that some people entered the gym, did some exercises and then left, I didn't pay attention to them.
