Chapter 3 - "What are you?"

Natasha's POV

"Tell me, Natasha." He stares deep into my eyes. He then smiled mischievously. "What is your secret?"

Sh*t.

I was taken aback by his words but I quickly put on a smiley face and think of anything to say.

Why is he asking me that kind of question?

"Am I that obvious?" I chuckled. "Well, maybe I am."

The corner of his lips rose and formed into a smirk but he didn't say anything.

"I was admiring you from afar for a long time now," I added which is half the truth.

I just have no idea what he looks like but I know him too much.

I knew him ever since I was a little because my father would always tell me things about him and how cruel he is. And, ever since I was a kid, a responsibility fell upon my shoulder and that is to kill him.

"How is that I only saw you tonight?" he asked.

The sound of his voice always sent shivers down my spine but I tried so hard to compose myself and never lose focus.

"Well, maybe I'm good at hiding," I answered smiling at him.

When I left my town and went to the city for my mission, I honestly had a hard time finding the chance to do the thing I'm supposed to do with him. The first time I saw him I didn't even see his face and the chance to successfully execute my plan is very low. But I can finally do it tonight because of this party.

Valerian didn't answer but he moved closer to me.

I slightly flinched when I suddenly felt his hand in my right thigh. I can still feel how cold his hand is although he's not directly touching my skin because of my dress.

"What's the matter?" he asked softly but the evilness is lingering in his voice.

F*cking Valerian Fenrir.

I tried to smile it off even though I feel like I can almost hear my heart beating fast and loudly in my chest.

Valerian Fenrir removed the fabric that was covering my thigh but I was quick to hold his hand and stopped him before he can fully remove it and exposed my thigh.

He will see the dagger.

I can't let that happen.

It will ruin my plan.

"Oh, I get it." He chuckled lowly. "Do you want to take it slow?"

A$shole!

What does he mean by that?!

What does he think I am?!

I fight the urge to pull the dagger out of my thigh harness and plant it in his chest.

It's not the right time yet.

I have to wait for the perfect timing. I can't risk my chance.

I quickly think of anything to divert his attention from the filthy thing that he wants. And then I saw the dance floor.

I smiled at him and removed his hand from me. "Do you want to dance?"

"But now is your chance, Natasha," he stated.

What a disgusting a$shole.

I nodded at his words and flashed a smile. "Oh yes, now is my chance."

"Mhm, I give you that chance. I am here now. You- we can do it here now. I'm sure the people in here wouldn't mind," he said which made my stomach turn upside down.

F*ck!

This a$shole!

I quickly stood up from my seat before I could do something that I will regret-- before he could do something.

I hide my disgust in a smile.

"I badly want to dance with you first," I told him.

Valerian Fenrir chuckled softly as he threw his head back. He then looked at me with much amusement dancing in his eyes.

I felt insulted but I calm myself down and instead, I waited for him to stand up. A couple of seconds passed and he didn't disappoint me.

Valerian Fenrir stood up and held me by the hand as we went to the dancefloor.

He put my arms around his neck and he placed his hands in my waist as we sway to the soft sound of the violin.

"You're different from them," he suddenly said. "Do you prefer gentle and slow? Unlike those other women. Little rascals." He laughed at his own words.

I gritted my teeth because of what he just said. How dare he?!

"Tell me, Natasha." He looked in my eyes for a second and I saw how his jaw clenched but he was quick to hide it again.

"How much is your rate, hmm?" he asked.

I creased my forehead at him in confusion. "What rate?"

Valerian chuckled at my words. "Oh, my, my, my. Don't tell me you don't do that- do you do that? Because it's such a shame if you truly don't. You're beautiful and you have a body of a goddess."

I continued to crease my forehead because I am badly confused by what he was saying. I have no idea what he is talking about.

"I'm asking if how much. . ." Valerian swayed my hips to the sound as I felt his touch getting sensual. "How much are you?"

I furrowed my eyebrows at his question.

"How much do you charge in exchange for your. . ." His eyes fell on my neck and then down to my chest. ". . .service."

No. . . Stop.

Don't Natasha. Not yet. Don't do it.

Oh please don't. There are a lot of people around. This is not the time yet!

But I got out of control and won't listen to my conscience anymore. This bastard is on my last nerves and I want nothing but to kill him.

I quickly grabbed the dagger from my thigh harness and held it tightly.

"You disgusting bastard-"

But, before the tip of the dagger could even reach the skin of Valerian Fenrir. He quickly grabbed my hand and the next thing I know we are not at the party anymore and instead, we are in the dark and quiet alleyway.

Everything happened so fast.

So fast.

In just a blink, he's already behind me holding my neck and my hand that has the dagger.

What happened?

I am still in shock unable to believe what just happened.

We were in the middle of the dancefloor and in just a second, we are already in a dark alleyway.

The sharpness of the dagger sparked in the pitch black darkness as Valerian removed it from my hand.

And as if on cue, I came back to my senses.

I tried to get the dagger back but he was quick to hold my hand again.

I repeatedly cursed inside my mind.

"Who are you?" he asked. His voice came out cold as the snow in the middle of the winter.

I didn't answer.

I wanted to ask him that question.

Who is he?

What the hell is he?!

I tried to break free from him but I can barely move my body.

He's so strong. . .

"Natasha," he started. "You are so easy to provoke."

F*ck. I knew it.

He was trying to push me off the edge and he successfully did it.

I was such a fool.

"I can easily feel your intention but why is it that I can't read your mind? Why can't I get inside your mind? Tell me, Natasha. What are you?"

My eyes widened as realization started to hit me.

Read my mind. . .

His strength. . .

His speed. . .

My breathing hitched.

I know his kind. I couldn't be wrong. They're the only ones who possessed the said abilities.

Vampires.

He's a vampire.

Valerian Fenrir is a vampire!

"Let me go." I gritted my teeth.

"Careful," he whispered that sent shiver down my spine.

His tone is far different from the playful tone he has earlier.

It's like he transformed into a whole new person.

A more dangerous one.

He is positioned at my back right now and no matter how hard I used my strength and try to break free from his grasp-- Valerian Fenrir's hand were chained to my neck stopping me to move away from him.

I can already feel the pain starting to form because of his touch.

I whimpered in desperation to escape but it only made him tighten his hand around my neck that made me cough.

"I can feel nothing but the desire to kill me," he stated. "You are not going to succeed."

My heart hammered inside my chest when I suddenly felt a pair of sharp fangs in my neck.

"You crossed the line and now you are mine, woman."

I screamed at the pain I felt in my neck. I can feel the hot liquid flowing from my skin.

"Your blood," he stated, voice full of wonder.

Valerian's grasp loosened and I took the opportunity. I quickly grabbed my ring off my finger.

I howled loudly as I turned into my form.

I was finally out of Valerian's grasp.

Our eyes met.

His fangs sparked in the dark and I can see my blood dripping from them.

I gritted my teeth at him before I turned my back and started running fast.
