Chapter 10

Addison's POV.

The next day was a day I had always looked up to, a day when my best friend would return to the country. And it's happening today.

I was seated by the window with a happy smile on my face when my phone rang and, as I expected, it was Austin.

“Hey, buddy. Are you at the airport now?”

“Yes, I just landed. I'll be with you soon.”

“What do you mean by that? I'll come pick you up myself.”

“You don't have to go through all that stress for me. Even if you want to really help, you can just send one of your drivers over to pick me and that's fine.”

“No, I insist. I'll join you soon.” I said, and ended the call before he could counter with another word.

Furthermore, I quickly changed into a causal wear and stepped out of the room. Bumped into Alison on my way out.

“Going somewhere?” She questioned.

“Yeah, Austin is back in town. I'm going to the airport to pick him up.”

“Okay, babe. Don't stay long, I love you.” She said, and we locked our lips in a kiss for some seconds.

“I'll be back soon.” I said and sprinted out of the house.

I got into the car and ignited it into motion, drove straight to the airport.

Alison's POV

Uncle Achan had called me to his room through our mind link, and I bumped into Addison on his way out 9f the house. After I watched his sprint out of the house, I proceeded to Uncle Achan's room.

Gently, I knocked on the door, grabbed the knob and opened the door; he isn't the type that responds to a knock. I walked further into the room and sat on a chair that, I believed, was pulled out for me. Uncle Achan was seating on the bed with his hands crossed.

“You called for me, Uncle Achan.” I said after I sat down.

“Yes, dear. I called for you.”

“I hope nothing is the problem.”

“Well, for now.” He responded, his voice was hushed yet alarming and captivated me interest.

“What do you mean by that, Uncle Achan? Is something about to happen?”

“Yes, if you remain lenient. Someone might take your place in Addison's heart.”

I adjusted my position, my ears stretched with rapt attention as I looked deeply into his eyes.

“Do you mean Addison is seeing someone else?”

“No…. No, get that out of your head.” He waved and got out of bed.

He sat on the edge of the bed and faced me directly.

“He's not cheating and would never cheat, he wasn't brought up that way.”

I hated how much Uncle Achan managed to get my interest into this, and I hate it more for the way he was playing with my emotions with his back and forth parables.

“Then, can you just please go straight to the point?” I asked, half yelling.

“Sure, dear. This is about the lady from the hospital.”

“You mean Agatha?” My eyes almost popped out and my heart beat went back to normal.

I almost thought it was something I won't be able to control.

“Yes Agatha. I think she might take your place in Addison's heart soon.” He said, and I burst into laughter, even though I tried to conceal it.

“I'm sorry, but it's just too funny.” I cracked up.

“How funny?” He asked with a serious look on his face as he crossed his hands against his chest.

“I'm sorry, but did it occur to you that I know about her?”

“Then that makes it easier for her to penetrate.” He said and walked to the window.

I also walked to the window, “What do you mean by that, Uncle Achan? Is something going on that I don't know about?”

“Yes.......” He paused to feed on the curiosity that took over my face.

“Which is?” My voice became dimmed by quivering lips.

“I think she has a strong hold on Addison. It might not be now, but it would eventually show up soon. Sooner than expected.”

“What do you suggest I do then?”

“We have to get rid of her.” He said with no emotion on his face.

At this moment, I couldn't believe my eyes that those words just came out from Uncle Achan's mouth. I want to believe it was a mistake, a terrible one at that.

“Get rid of her? As how?” I asked like a novice, and he looked at me, his brows pinched together in disgust and disappointment.

“It means to kill her, dummy head.” He snapped.

“No…. No, I can't do that, Uncle Achan.”

“But you can watch her take your place in Addison's heart? You can watch her take away the man you've loved from your childhood? Is that what you're trying to tell me?” He yelled.

“No, none of what you said is going to happen. Addison loves me, not her. We just need her to ascend the position of the Alpha. He was going to pay her off after that, he possibly couldn't leave me for her.” Tears began to roll down my cheeks as I tried hard to fight off the thoughts in my head.

“Maybe you just don't know it yet, did you see how he looked at her last night at the hospital? How he badly wanted to protect her? He was even too ashamed to introduce you to her as his girlfriend. You think that kind of man loves you?”

“Why are you doing this to me?” I cried out and fell to my knees.

“I'm only trying to help you, Alison. I know how much you love Addison, and you're the only one who desist love. Not just a random girl on the street.”

“But if we kill her, he would never be able to be the Alpha.”

“Here is where your decision matters most; do you want him to become the Alpha with Agatha as his Luna or remain a Prince and still love you as much as he does until Agatha came into the picture?”

After giving it a thought, I made a decision.

“The latter.” I mumbled.
