Chapter 20
Agatha's Point Of View
“Where could he be?” Austin's voice trembled with in confusion.
Again, we scattered around the house, searching for any sign of his uncle's whereabouts, but there was still no sign of him or where he might be.
“Addison, how could he just disappear like this?” Austin's voice broke the heavy silence. “I wasn't going to believe what your mate said, but it seems true now that I think of it.”
Meanwhile, Amelia's scrutiny intensified. Her gaze seemed to penetrate Addison's soul, searching for answers he couldn't provide. The crease between her eyebrows deepened, and her lips formed a subtle frown. The unspoken questions hung in the air, the weight of her suspicions almost tangible.
What was she thinking? Did she suspect Addison of hiding something? Or was it simply concerning about his well-being that consumed her thoughts?
“Are you okay, Amelia?” I asked and she looked at me.
She nodded, “Of course, I'm okay. What do you mean?”
I was about to talk when my phone vibrated in my phone, when I brought it out, it was a strange number calling.
“Answer the call,” Addison said, and I received the call.
Uncle Achan's voice resonated through the crackling phone line, sending shivers down my spine. His words echoed in my mind, each syllable carrying an air of malevolence. It was an unthinkable demand.
“You have to sacrifice your life if you want to save your brother. Meet me at Thompson Street and remember to come alone.”
My heart pounded in my chest as the weight of the decision bore down on me. I could feel the tendrils of fear and despair wrapping themselves around me, threatening to suffocate my resolve. Yet, amidst the chaos of my emotions, a flicker of determination ignited within me. I knew I had to protect my brother at all costs, even if it meant placing myself in harm's way. With a steadfast determination, I steeled myself for the perilous journey that lay ahead.
Every nerve in my body screamed for me to turn back, to run away from the looming darkness. But I knew that I couldn't abandon Alden in his hour of need. The weight of this decision pressed heavily upon my shoulders, but I knew I had to be strong. As I packed a small bag with essentials and bid a tearful farewell to the life I once knew, my mind raced with thoughts of what lay ahead.
My heart ached for the sacrifices I would have to make, the hardships I would endure. But within those painful moments of farewell, a glimmer of hope flickered. I vowed to find a way to outsmart Uncle Achan, to protect Alden without sacrificing my own life. I refused to submit to the cruelty that threatened to tear my family apart. The air was thick with uncertainty as I stepped out into the night, my resolve cutting through the darkness like a solitary candle. At that moment, I realized that she was no longer just Agatha – I was a fierce, unyielding force that would stop at nothing to save my brother.
As the wind whispered tales of adversity and danger, I marched forward, armed with passion and unwavering love. I knew that the road ahead would be treacherous, filled with unexpected twists and turns. But I held on to the flickering flame of hope in my heart, and with each step, I drew closer to the ultimate choice I would have to make. The path was arduous, fraught with a myriad of emotions and challenges that tested my spirit.
Fear gripped my heart, threatening to consume my very being. But it was in those moments of vulnerability that I found her strength, my resilience shining through like an unyielding beacon. I knew the sacrifices that lay ahead would be immeasurable, but the love I held for my brother burned brighter than any darkness that dared to stand in my way.
My journey was a testament to the courage and sacrifice that dwelled within me. With determination etched deep into my soul, I embarked on the path that would define her legacy. The chapter of my life that began with Uncle Achan's chilling ultimatum was poised to unravel into a tapestry of determination, resilience, and unwavering love for my brother, Alden.
My heart raced as I stepped onto Thompson street, the designated meeting spot. Uncle Achan's sinister presence lingered in the air, casting a dark cloud over the bustling city. Fear clawed at my chest, threatening to suffocate me, but I knew that I had to face him. My brother's life depended on it. And then, I saw him. Uncle Achan emerged from the shadows, his eyes cold and filled with malice.
My breath caught in my throat as I braced myself for the confrontation ahead. The weight of the world pressed heavily upon my shoulders, but I refused to let it break my spirit.
“Agatha, my dear” he sneered, his voice dripping with venom. “l see you've decided to show up. How convenient.”
My gaze remained steady, my eyes burning with a mix of defiance and determination. “What do you want, Uncle Achan?” I demanded, my voice laced with an underlying tremor.
A sly grin crept across Uncle Achan's face, sending shivers down my spine. “It's quite simple, really,” he replied, his voice dripping with sadistic pleasure. “I want both you and Alden dead. You see, your father left behind a secret, and it's a secret I intend to bury along with the two of you.”
My mind raced, trying to make sense of Uncle Achan's twisted motives. I would do anything to protect her brother, even if it meant sacrificing my own life. But before I could even fathom a response, a familiar voice pierced through the tension.
“Stop right there, Achan!” It was Amelia.
Uncle Achan turned towards Amelia, a look of surprise flashing across his face.
“Amelia, what are you doing here?” he spat, his voice tainted with anger.
