Chapter 27
Alison's Point of View
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an eerie glow over the deserted hospital parking lot. I sat in my car, my heart pounding in my chest, as I rehearsed my plan over and over again. It had come to this: I had to fake an accident to win Addison's care back. Agatha, that conniving woman, had been worming her way into his life, and I couldn't bear to lose him to her.
I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what I was about to do. As I stepped out of the car, the cool night air sent shivers down my spine. I made my way towards the entrance of the hospital, my mind racing with thoughts of Addison and Agatha.
Inside, the hospital corridors were dimly lit, the only sound being the soft hum of fluorescent lights. I spotted a nurse at the reception desk and approached her, feigning panic.
"Excuse me," I said, my voice trembling. "I need help. My fiancé, Addison, has been acting strange lately. I think something's wrong."
The nurse looked up from her paperwork, concern etched on her face. "What kind of strange behavior?"
I followed the nurse down the hallway, my heart pounding louder with each step. We reached a small examination room, and I took a seat on the edge of the bed, my hands trembling in my lap. The nurse left to find a doctor, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I couldn't help but replay the moments when I first noticed Agatha's presence in Addison's life. She had always been his mate, but I was his fiancée. I had thought our love was strong enough to withstand any challenge, but Agatha's arrival had shaken me to my core.
Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice the door opening until a doctor walked in, his white coat billowing behind him. He had a kind face, but I couldn't let my guard down. I had to convince him that I needed his help.
"Good evening, Miss...?" He trailed off, waiting for me to fill in the blank.
"Alison," I replied, my voice laced with desperation. "Please, you have to help me. I think something's wrong with Addison. He's been acting so strange, and I'm afraid he's falling for someone else."
The doctor pulled up a chair and sat down, his eyes filled with empathy. "Relationships can be complicated, Alison. But we need to focus on Addison's well-being. Can you tell me more about his behavior?"
I took a deep breath, my voice trembling as I recounted the moments of Addison's distance and secrecy. The doctor listened attentively, nodding occasionally as I poured out my heart.
"I understand your concerns, Alison," he said gently. "But we need to rule out any medical conditions that might be affecting Addison's behavior. I'll order some tests and keep a close eye on him."
Relief washed over me as the doctor assured me of his help. I knew I had to take it a step further, though. I had to make this accident seem real to make Addison realize how much I cared.
"Doctor, please," I pleaded, my voice quivering. "Is there any way we can stage an accident? Something that will make Addison see how much I love him?"
The doctor's eyebrows furrowed in concern, but he understood the desperation in my voice. "I can't condone such actions, Alison. But I can help you create a scenario that will allow Addison to witness your devotion."
We spent the next hour discussing the details of the accident. The doctor assured me that it would be safe, but I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. I was deceiving the man I loved, all in the name of love itself.
As we finalized the plan, I couldn't help but wonder if this was the right path to take. But my heart was set on winning Addison's care back, and I was willing to do whatever it took.
Little did I know that this deception would set in motion a chain of events that would forever change our lives. The hospital would become the backdrop for a web of secrets, love, and betrayal, where the line between truth and lies would blur and the consequences of our actions would come crashing down upon us.
I went back to the car and drove home. I sat nervously on the edge of Addison's bed, my heart pounding in my chest. Tonight was the night I decided to confront Addison about his true feelings for me. We had been engaged for years now, but something in my gut told me that there was more to his love for me than he was letting on. I needed to know the truth.
As I waited for Addison to join me in his bedroom, my mind raced with thoughts of what I would say and how he would react. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts.
Finally, the door creaked open, and Addison stepped into the room. His eyes met mine, and I could see a mixture of surprise and curiosity in them. I mustered up all the courage I had and spoke, my voice trembling slightly.
"Addison, we need to talk," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
He nodded, concern etched on his face, and sat down next to me on the bed. "What's wrong, Alison? You seem upset."
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts. "It's about us, Addison. Our relationship. I can't shake this feeling that there's something you're not telling me."
He looked puzzled, his brow furrowing. "What do you mean, Alison? I've been completely honest with you."
I looked into his eyes, searching for any sign of deception. "Addison, I need you to be honest with me. Do you truly love me? I mean, do you love me as much as I love you?"
Addison's eyes widened, and he hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. "Alison, I... I do love you. More than anything in this world."
