Chapter 30
Amelia's point of view
As I looked around the hotel room, the reality of my situation sank in. The room was small and modestly furnished, a stark contrast to the luxurious pack houses I was accustomed to. But it was a necessary sacrifice—a place where I could hide away and confront my own demons.
I walked over to the window, pulling back the heavy curtains to reveal a view of the city skyline. The sun hung high in the clear sky, casting a soft glow over the bustling streets below. The city was alive with energy, a stark contrast to the turmoil within me.
I sank onto the bed, feeling the weight of my secret pressing down on me. The room felt suffocating, and I needed to escape, even if it was just for a little while. I closed my eyes, picturing Alden's face.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts, and I jumped, startled. I quickly composed myself and walked over to answer it. Standing in the doorway was Addison, the father of my unborn child.
"Amelia," he said, his voice filled with concern. "I heard you're going away for a while. Is everything alright?"
I forced a smile, not wanting to reveal the truth to him either. "I just need some time to clear my head, Addison. It's nothing serious."
He studied me for a moment, his eyes searching mine. "Alright, but promise me you'll take care of yourself. And if you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out."
I nodded, grateful for his understanding. "Thank you, Addison. I appreciate your support."
He gave me a reassuring smile before turning to leave. As the door closed behind him, I felt a mix of relief and sadness. I couldn't help but wonder how long I could keep up this charade and how long I could hide the truth from those I loved.
I walked back to the bed and sank onto it, feeling the weight of my secret once again. The hotel room felt like a prison, but it was a necessary escape. For now, I had to focus on finding the strength to face my own fears and make the right decisions for myself and my unborn child.
With a heavy heart, I closed my eyes, hoping that this week away would bring me the clarity I so desperately sought.
Addison's Point of View
I couldn't bear the weight of the secret any longer. The guilt gnawed at my insides, tearing me apart piece by piece. Agatha deserved to know the truth, no matter how painful it might be. So, after she closed from working at the bar, I mustered up the courage to go to her hotel room.
The night was dark and heavy with anticipation as I stood outside Agatha's door, my heart pounding in my chest. I took a deep breath, my hand trembling as I knocked softly. The door swung open, revealing Agatha's tired but beautiful face. Her eyes widened in surprise as she saw me standing there.
"Addison? What are you doing here?" She asked, her voice laced with concern.
"I need to talk to you, Agatha," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. "Can I come in?"
Agatha hesitated for a moment before stepping aside, allowing me to enter her hotel room. The dimly lit space felt suffocating, mirroring the heaviness in my heart. I took a seat on the edge of the bed, my hands clasped tightly together.
Agatha sat down beside me, her eyes searching mine. "What's wrong, Addison? You look like you've seen a ghost."
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing thoughts. "I... I don't know how to say this, Agatha. But I can't keep it from you any longer. I've made a terrible mistake."
Agatha's brows furrowed, her concern deepening. "What kind of mistake, Addison? You're scaring me."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I finally found the courage to speak the words that would shatter Agatha's world. "I had sex with a stripper. Twice. And now... she's pregnant."
Agatha gasped, her hand flying to her mouth in shock. "Pregnant? But... how? Who is she?"
I closed my eyes, the weight of my actions crushing me. "Her name is Amelia. She's your sister, Agatha. The same sister who works as a stripper, the same sister I... I slept with."
Agatha's face paled, her eyes filling with tears. "No, no, this can't be happening. How could you, Addison? How could you betray me like this?"
I reached out to hold her hand, but she pulled away, her pain evident in every fiber of her being. "I never meant to hurt you, Agatha. I love you more than anything. But I made a terrible mistake, and I can't change what happened."
Agatha's voice trembled as she spoke, her words laced with anguish. "You slept with my sister, Addison. My own flesh and blood How can I ever trust you again?"
Tears streamed down my face as I looked into Agatha's eyes, begging for forgiveness. "I don't expect you to forgive me, Agatha. I don't even deserve it. But I had to tell you the truth. I couldn't bear to hide it from you any longer."
Silence hung heavy in the room as Agatha processed the magnitude of my betrayal. The air felt thick with tension, suffocating us both. I knew that our relationship would never be the same again and that the trust we once shared had been shattered.
"I need some time alone, Addison," Agatha finally whispered, her voice barely audible. "I don't know if I can ever look at you the same way again."
I nodded, my heart breaking at the thought of losing her. "I understand, Agatha. Take all the time you need. I'll be here, waiting for you."
With a heavy heart, I stood up and made my way towards the door. As I turned the handle, I glanced back at Agatha, her tear-stained face etched into my memory. I knew that this was just the beginning of the pain we would both have to endure.
Leaving Agatha's hotel room, I stepped out into the night, the weight of my actions bearing down on me. The moon hung high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the world. And as I walked away, I couldn't help but wonder if our love could survive the storm that lay ahead.
