Chapter 3
Agatha's POV
Two months later, Amelia had moved in with us after we found out that we were related to the strange man in the picture. It was also my second week at work at a club.
“Amelia!” I called out from the living room, and she answered from the room we both share.
“Yes? I'll be down in a minute.”
It was 7:45pm, and I was almost getting late for my shift. Soon, she came down.
“I'll head out now. I'll be back anytime from 11:00pm. Please, take care of Alden.”
She hugged me and saw me off to the gate while I boarded a taxi to the club. I was lucky to get there on time. After signing in on a book and changed into the club's uniform, I began my new job; I was assigned to the VIPs lounge.
There was this gentleman who came to the bar, he came with his friend, and I was instructed to sever them drinks. Immediately I saw him, I felt a strange feeling in my body and my wolf screamed, “Mate.” Almost giving me a headache. I could tell he felt the same by the way he looked at me, but he said nothing.
I served the drinks and left.
Addison's POV
It had been a while since I had been searching for my mate, most of my friends had made jokes out of it that the Moon Goddess had forgotten to mate me to someone. But I felt it the moment I saw the waitress, I saw it in her eyes as well. However, she isn't the kind of girl I like, and I intend on rejecting her quietly.
My friends and I wined and dined until we were almost drunk, and I excused myself to the restroom when I saw the waitress walk in its direction.
“Hey, you!” I called out to her, and she looked at me with her brows raised.
“How may I help you, sir?” Her voice melted my heart.
“I know you felt what I felt back there.......”
“Oh! The mate bond? Yes, I did. Any problems?” She crossed her arms against her chest and spoke to me as though she were my girlfriend.
“Yes, the mate bond. Actually, you're not the kind of girl I can fall in love with.” The look on her face changed, but I care less and continued. “I would like to reject you as my mate.”
“Sure. Rejection granted.” She said bluntly and went into the restroom.
I expected her to be furious, but maybe it was a good thing she wasn't. I went back to my friends, bade them goodbye and left the club.
When I got home, I still couldn't get her face off my head and regretted why I rejected her even without knowing a thing about her. A knock interrupted my thought, shaking me back to reality. The door opened and Alison walked in; she is my childhood friend and lover. I had hoped she would be my mate, and we would rule the Pack together. She approached me and sat on the bed, staring a while at my worried face.
“What's wrong, babe? You look so worried.”
“I found my mate.”
“Wow! That's great news, you should be happy.” She said, and I glared at her.
Of course, she said the right thing; I should be happy because my dad had made a public proclaim that I had to get married to my mate before I could be the Alpha, after his demise. He believed this would make me stronger.
“You need to see the girl, she isn't someone I can cope with.” I snapped and buried my head in my hands.
“And I already rejected her.”
“What!” She yelled. “You met someone today and you rejected her? What's wrong with you, babe?” She asked the last question in a calmer tone.
“I don't know. I just don't like her.”
Alison and I had planned that I would marry my mate, but she would only be around for a few months or years, and she would replace her fully.
“You have to remember the plan, Addison. You need her! We need her!” She said, and I responded with a frown.
“I need to get some rest. Good night.” I pulled her in and kissed her passionately on the lips.
I tucked myself into the bed while she went to the bathroom for a bath. Likewise, I tried to get the girl's face off my mind, but it kept reoccurring. Not until when Alison cuddled me was I able to sleep.
Agatha's POV
Though I was surprised at my mate's sudden and fast rejection, I was happy about it. I have a lot going on in my life already, I wouldn't want to add some extra burden to it. After the night's work, I tried to get a taxi to take me home, but there seemed to be none. Then a car parked in front of me and ordered me to come in; it was my boss, Mr. Adolf.
“Hop in, Agatha. I'll take you home.” He said, beaming with a smile.
“It's fine, Mr. Adolf. I'll just grab a taxi.”
“But I don't see any coming your way.” He said, looking at the road funnily that got me laughing.
“Thanks, sir.” I said after I got into the car.
I had seen him drive home early sometimes, and could tell that we didn't live in the same area. Likewise, I don't know why, but he seems to treat me specially.
“You can pack here.” I said, pointing my finger at the gate.
He pulled to a halt and I alighted from the car.
“Thanks, sir. See you at work tomorrow.” I said, and he nodded and drove off.
I went into the house and saw Amelia packing, and she seemed frightened.
“Amelia, what's going on?” I asked while Alden hugged me tightly.
“He was here. We need to leave now.”
“Who?”
“The killer!”
My jaw dropped!
