Chapter 4

Agatha's POV

I helped with packing the remaining stuff. Countless questions ran through my mind as we left our home in the middle of the night.

“I think we should lodge at a hotel for a while.” Amelia said, while we seem lost on the street.

“That seems to be a good idea.” I supported and we lodged in a nearby hotel.

I had planned to go to the house after school tomorrow to check if anyone was there. If it's the same as we had left it, I would suggest we go back. For the first time in weeks, I saw my brother sleep soundly, and this brought tears to my eyes.

The next morning, I went to school as usual. Things were not the same in school today, as I lacked the concentration I needed. The day went by, and I went to work straight; I wouldn't want Amelia or Alden to be worried about the way I looked.

Addison's POV.

The next morning, Alison somehow convinced me to go get my mate. So, I went to the club early in the morning, as I didn't know when she would be at work. I was about to give up on her when she emerged from the door, I could feel the strong connection between our souls and our eyes net, but she ignored me.

I sat comfortably on the chair, waiting for her to come serve me, but she didn't. She was returning to the counter after serving the man behind me when I stopped her.

“Hey, mate! Stop right there.”

She turned to me with a flaming glare, “How may I help you, sir?” She faked a smiled amidst her glare, which gave her an awful look.

“I need a bottle of champagne.”

“Right on it, sir.”

She came back a few minutes later with the bottle of champagne and served me. She was about to leave when I gripped her wrist.

“Stop it, sir. This is against the ethics of my job.” She yelled and I let go of her.

“We need to talk, please.”

“About what?” She arrogantly crossed her hands against her chest.

“What happened last night. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have behaved like that, but it came to me as a shock.”

“Apology accepted. I have to get back to work now.”

“But we still have a lot to talk about.”

“Maybe if you can wait until I'm done with work.” She said, took a deep breath before she left my lounge.

I could tell she had a lot going on in her mind. Potentially, if I can help out, she would be able to help me get the position as the Alpha and also make Alison happy.

I decided to wait until she would have time to talk to me. She approached me when the club was shutting.

“You have to go now, sir.”

“I waited because I really needed to talk to you.” I said in a calm voice.

She reluctantly sat opposite me.

“What is it you want to talk about?” She asked, avoiding the eye contact I intended to use in making the conversation more deep.

“I apologise for the way I reacted last night. It was out of anxiety. “

“It's fine. Is that all?”

“No. I want you to be my Luna.” I said, smiling, and she looked at me.

Rather than giving me a reply, she laughed.

“Be your Luna? Have you forgotten you rejected me already? I'm fine with that. You may take your leave now.” She said, and exited the lounge.

To avoid embarrassment, I left the club and waited outside for her. Soon, she emerged from the club and rolled her eyes in disgust the moment she saw me.

“Why aren't you giving me breathing space? After all, you were the one who rejected me.”

“I know, but I'm really curious. No wolf would be happy to be rejected by her mate, but you don't seem like one.”

“Thank goodness you know, and that is more reason why you should stop stalking me.” She snapped and took some steps away from me.

I raced after her, gripped her by the arm and bought out some cash from my pocket.

“How about this? Would this help you change your mind?”

“Change my mind?” She wriggled her arm out of my grip. “Why would I want to accept your money?”

“Just name the price, I'm ready to pay you whatever you want.” I pleaded with my voice.

“Willing to pay anything to be accepted by your mate? Unbelievable!” She scoffed and gave me a glare.

“I guess I'll think about it.” She said, took three steps away and turned back at me with a finger pointed at me. “And don't you dare follow me again. I've had enough of you!” She snorted and left.

I let out a soft, relieving sigh as I watched her disappear in sight.

Agatha's POV

When I got back to the hotel, Alden was fast asleep, but Amelia was still waiting for me to return.

“Hi. What took you so long?” Worry clouded her voice.

I was tired from the day's long trip. I took a seat and chugged a glass of water before I could answer her question.

“I was being stalked by my mate.”

“Your mate?” She was surprised.

“Yes, my mate. I couldn't tell you last night because of what happened. I found my mate last night, but he rejected me immediately.”

“What! Why?”

“Reasons best known to him!” I shrugged.

“So why the stalking now?”

“He wants me back, and he's ready to pay me any amount to be with him, but I don't think I'm going to take that offer.”

“Why?” Her voice sounded so alarming.

“What do you mean, why? I basically don't have time for any relationship right now. I have a lot going on with me.”

“And you think getting a fat amount from him won't help reduce that?” She raised a brow.

Of course, she's right. If I get the money, I'll quit work, Alden would be able to go to a better school and I can concentrate more on who killed my parents.
