Chapter 5

Agatha's POV.

The next day at work, I was a bit early for work, but deep down it was because I couldn't wait to see my mate again.

“You look different today.” A voice said to me, I froze and looked back at who it was; it was my boss this time, Adolf.

“Thanks for the complement, sir. ” I replied with a smile.

“Are you having a date today?” He asked jokingly.

Countless thoughts running through my mind about Addison and my mission.

I was quick to say no after a few seconds of thinking about the best reply. “No, Mr. Adolf.” I replied.

“Now get back to work, young lady.” He snapped.

I quickly changed my position, pretending I was at work, then this thought dashed through my mind. $5000 would help sort my little but scary problems.

Still buried in these thoughts when someone tapped my shoulder, and when I looked back, it was Addison.

“You look adorable as always.” He teased with a smirk that played on his lips.

“Please, sir, you can spare me the details.” I snapped with a straight face, looking straight into his eyes.

Also trying to avoid any further conversation from him.

“You still haven't thought about my advances? I can buy you this bar if it pleases you.” He bluffed in a way that hot me irritated.

“No, thanks.” I sassed and dashed my way to another table.

“Then get me a plate of sushi and a bottle of red wine.” He hurriedly replied and proceeded to the VIP lounge.

I rolled my eyes and thudded my feet lightly as I walked back to the counter.

A few minutes later, I found my way to a table in a corner of the lounge where the abysmal was sitting. After serving him, I had to leave the bill while when he choked some bills into my hand and said.

“Thanks for the service, May we speak after work?” He questioned with a big grin on his face.

I accepted just to move on quickly before my boss finds me here again.

When I got inside the bar, I unfolded the squeezed bill and was shocked to find out it was a $1000 bill and a note which stated an address of a restaurant down the next block.

“Be careful with customers, young lady.” A voice said behind me, and I shrugged, startled.

I turned to the direction, and it was Mr. Adolf standing a few steps away from me.

“You should focus more on work…. If you want to keep this job. I have my eyes on you.” He said in a stern voice.

“I'm sorry…” I tried to calm the situation with my lips shaking when he interrupted and said.

“Now get to work, young lady, You are now expected to work an extra hour every Tuesdays and Thursdays”

He quarried as I dashed away hurriedly with the thought of one thousand dollar bill and the excitement of seeing Addison tonight and solving all my mysteries.

It's half past 8, and I was due to get off work, while holding the $1000 bill, I dashed to a nearby store to get some snacks for my little brother before going back to the hotel.

“Can I get a bread and milk, please?”

As I ordered from the supermarket nearby, flashes of collecting money from a stranger and Adolf's attitude sent me gush of worries down my spines, while I brought out the bill from my purse.

“Here it is.” The cashier said as I sent the bill through the counter.

I hurriedly dashed to the hotel to meet my family with the story of the day I wished to tell Amelia and seek advice before going to meet Addison.

“I need to be an undercover detective” I said to myself—raising my chins up as I walked through the valley walking hotel, unworried.

When I got back to the hotel, Alden was fast asleep, but Amelia was still waiting for me to return.

“Welcome back.” Amelia said with her arms wide open for a hug.

“Where's Alden?” I asked while scanning the room.

“He is fast asleep on the floor, at the extreme of the bed, that's why you can't see him. Not to worry, but I made him some custard am pancakes already. So, you don't need to worry too much.” She replied almost immediately.

There he was on the floor, covered in a blanket. While I narrated the whole story that happened with my boss, Mr. Adolf and Addison's advances.

“I'm going to meet him tonight. I want to play a role of a detective until I can point out the killer.” I said while checking for my late mother's red gown.

“Don't lose focus, baby girl. You know there's a killer on the run, and you have to be careful.” She said while handing me a mini gun.

“Here, take this and protect yourself at all cost.” She said while offering me the gun.

“Sighs! Okay, I'll make sure of that.” I said with a big grin on my face as I dashed out of the hotel room.

At the front of the restaurant, I saw a familiar man 6ft (182.88 cm) tall, hands in his coats, in a black hat and a suit, and it was Addison.

“I've been expecting you, mademoiselle. What took you so long?” He asked in a warm tone while welcoming me with a kind gesture.

“Sorry I'm late. I didn't get a cab at the station.” I said to ease the quarry.

“You know what, let's get inside. I have a special delicacy for you tonight, hope you won't mind. ” Addison said while offering me a hand inside.

While we were eating, I accepted to be my mate's lover. But not before I stated out my conditions.

“You will have to pay me a sum of $5000 every month. And when you think you're done with me, you'll pay me off with twice the initial.” I said with a sly grin that spread across my face.

Gboah!!

I heard a loud noise of a gunshot that penetrated the transparent glass. He actually took the bullet for me; the gun was aimed at me. I saw Addison on the floor holding his right arm.

“Ahhhh!” He screamed in so much pain while I summoned courage to look after him.

I saw a man running away, and I could identify that was the killer in a long coat and blue hat covering his face as I looked helpless. Everyone was running for their lives.

“Addison! Addison!! Addison!!!"! I screamed for help.

Addison's POV.

Mere looking at our attacker running away, I could tell who it was.

My uncle!
