Chapter 9

Addison's POV.

I badly didn't want to believe it was my Uncle who attempted to kill Agatha, but my instinct says it's him. This made me ponder why he would want her dead. He had been kind and caring to me since I was a child, and even more caring after my dad died.

How then can I believe he's the killer? Or was someone trying to make me think he's the one?

The ward's door opened, the creaking sound shook me out of my thoughts, and Alison walked to me. She planted a kiss on my lips and forehead.

“Hey, boo. How are you feeling today?” She asked as sat beside me.

“I feel great already, I think I can go home now.”

“Of course, the doctor spoke to me on my way here. Said you would be discharged in a few hours.”

“Why did you bring Uncle Achan with you last night?”

“He was worried about you and insisted that he comes with me. I'm sorry if that got you upset.”

“Nah. It's fine, I'm just curious.......”

“Curious about what?”

“It's nothing. Please, take care of the discharge form, I need to see Agatha really quick.”

“Okay then.” She responded with a little sense of jealousy and stepped out of the ward.

After about an hour, Alison was done with the discharge form, and I was able to leave the hospital. We walked to the car park, and she was about to enter the car to drive, but I stopped her.

“Let me have the key, I'll drive.” I said, and she looked at me as if I were acting weird.

“Is anything the problem? You don't seem to be yourself.” She asked with concern.

“I'm fine, sweetie. I just want to drive you.” A smile played on my lips and I gently kissed her lips.

“Okay, if that's what you want.” She shrugged, handed me the key and went to the other side of the car.

I stepped into the car, revved the car into motion, and we drove off.

The house wasn't far from the hospital, so it was a short journey. The guards bowed as I packed the car in front of the mansion' entrance, one of them took the key from me and went to park the car in its garage while Alison and I walked into the house.

Uncle Achan was seated in the living room, listening to the noon news. His attention shifted to us as we stepped into the living room.

“Welcome back, Addison.” He got up and approached me with his arms widely spread out for a hug.

With a smirk, I hugged him and pulled out almost immediately. Until I find the truth about what happened last night, I don't think would be able to see him as my Uncle.

He wrapped his arm around Alison's neck, and they walked back to where he was seated.

I ignored them and made for the stairs but halted after my first step on the stairs and looked back at my Uncle.

“Uncle Achan....” I called and they both looked in my direction.

“Where were you last night? Around the hour of 8pm?” I asked in a shaky voice, and he stared at me in disbelief.

“I'm sorry, I just need to confirm something. But it's fine if you would rather not answer it.” I said and made to leave, but his voice stopped me.

“I was in the house. Why do you ask?” A sly grin expression vividly on his face.

“It's nothing, just wanted to know. Thanks.” I utterly and walked to my room.

Seated on the edge of my bed, I thought of the chances of Uncle Achan being the killer. Still, I couldn't understand what he stands to gain from all of it.

Just then, my phone rang, it was Austin; my best friend calling. I grabbed the 0hone and answered the call.

“Hey, buddy. I heard about the incident that happened last night, I'm deeply sorry I couldn't be there for you.”

“Sure Austin. It's fine, I know you have a good reason for not being able to make it down here.”

“Yeah, my flight was delayed, but I should arrive at the Pack by tomorrow morning.”

“That's great news. This is the time I need you most, buddy. I need you back as soon as possible.”

Sensing my disturbed voice, “Hey, what's going on? Is this about Alison?”

“It would be better if it was about her, but no. It's about my mate and Uncle Achan.”

“Your mate?" He gasped in disbelief. "Bro, you found your mate and didn't care to tell me anything about it? That isn't good enough."

"Accepted but I just met her a few days back and a lot has been happening in my life. It's as if I'm now living a different life. Maybe someone exchanged their lives with me, I can't say."

"Just chill. I'll be back tomorrow and we can talk about this through."

"Sure. Looking forward to seeing you." I said and ended the call.

A huff of relief escaped his lips and he laid on his back, with his eyes shut and his heart prone to different negative thoughts.

Uncle Achan's POV.

It's no surprise that Addison feel suspicious about me now but it's more than a shock that he would ask me about it when he knows how dangerous I can be now. An evil grin played for some seconds on my lips as I watched him climb up the stairs.

"You have no idea who you're dealing with Addison. It would be best if you don't cross the line." I dwelled on my thoughts.

I turned back to Alison who was listening to the news with rapt attention; that's one of the numerous things she had learned from me.

"I need to use the restroom, I'll be back." I said and excused myself from the living room.

The fear of Addison finding out about my plan was something I can't stand and would not allow happen.

I eavesdropped his conversation with Austin.

"Get ready for what you summoned, Addison."
