Presidential Client...

"Oh no! This can't be happening right now! You informed me that there would be no more meetings today! I'm exhausted, this wasn't in my schedule. It's just catching me unaware and I hate it when things catch me unaware, you and I both know this!" I complained to Clara as I paced around my office.

Clara just informed me that I'm supposed to be having a meeting with another client right now, but that wasn't what we agreed. I'm not supposed to be having any meetings today again. I planned to go to the club with Mia and I'd be late if the meeting isn't finished soon.

Clara Wales towards me anxiously "I know it's impromptu and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have accepted it but it was just a thing of the moment. They called in last minute and insisted it was very important, they seemed very impatient and they were already here by the time I saw the email so I had no choice but to accept. It seems like this is their first time patronizing us so I didn't want to make a bad first impression, they promised it was important and that the meeting would be as brief s possible..."

"Oh please! Don't give me that bullsh*t Clara! You know my work ethics and how much I hate impromptu meetings! I'm not even prepared and I don't even know what type of clients they are for God's sake! You just want me to walk into that room completely confused and just sit there to hear what they have to say? I don't know what type of clients they are or what they do! I can't just make an appearance and sit there stupidly, this is just not okay Clara! You messed up, you really messed up big-time!" I stated firmly.

Clara fumbled with her fingers as she checked her wristwatch "they've been waiting for thirty minutes madam... I'm very sorry and I know we messed up but you could at least try giving them a listening ear... They seemed like really important clients..."

"It's not just about what they seemed like Clara. It's about the fact that I'm not prepared for this meeting! All my clients are important to me no matter how little their contract is, you of all people should know that. I'm just not in the mood for another meeting right now. Okay, let's do this, why don't you replace me? Stand in for me and tell them I'm busy, I think that would do the trick" I suggested before walking back to my desk and taking my seat.

I nodded my head affirmatively at my decision, that would be better, at least we'll get some leverage and this could be less of a disaster. For some reason, I'm really grumpy today, it's not like I don't know what to say at the meeting, it's just that I hate being caught unawares. I had already programmed my day thinking o was done and now this...

"I'm afraid we can't do that ma'am... I'm sorry but they specifically requested for you, I don't know why but the lady asked that she wanted you to be present. I offered to stand in for you since I was well aware that you hated being caught off guard but there was only so much I could do. She said the meeting was not just a fashion appointment and that it was serious business. I requested she come back on Monday but she insisted saying it was very urgent. Something about being on a timed budget, I have no idea what that means..."

"Yet you agreed to an exclusive meeting without taking the leverage to inform me first. How does that sound to you? No, honestly how does this sound?" I knew I was being a little bit harsh and hard in her but I had to even if I hated to. I couldn't let her get away with things like this, I hated being that grumpy boss but my company wouldn't have gotten this far if I'd let somethings slide. This was a very big mistake on her part and I had to make sure she knew it.

"You should be more thoughtful and professional... An appointment is an appointment and everyone has to have one. No one can just show up here and demand to see me saying it's urgent and that they're on a time budget. I have rules... This establishment has rules, certain rules that deserve to be followed so they must be respected. This has to be the last time something like this happens Clara, the last time. You're here on internship, if I don't correct silly mistakes like this then I'll blame myself for not teaching you the basics of being a secretary... Go tell them I'll be there in five minutes" I scolded before dismissing her.

I buried my head in my hands as I let out an exasperated sigh. I was beyond exhausted and I knew it, the fact that I'll have to go through another painfully and possibly long meeting didn't help matters. Don't get it twisted, I love working and I'm not lady, I keep my work ethics very professional but I am a sucker at impromptu meetings. I plan everything I do, I'm basically like a programmed robot so I hate things that don't go according to my schedule. It sounds weird but it makes me feel unorganized and irritated.

I grabbed my phone of the table and tested Mia saying I'll stay an hour longer at the office so I might be late in getting dressed. When I'm done with that, I exit my office in search of the conference room. When I get there, I take a minute to stand outside the door to pull myself together, I just hope this meeting is has snappy as the breakfast I had this morning.

I pushed the heavy door open, expecting to find the usual empty conference hall. But to my surprise, my eyes widened at the sight that greeted me. Three impeccably dressed men in sharp suits and an elegant woman occupied the space, exuding an air of importance and authority.

My heart skipped a beat as my mind raced to comprehend the situation. Could it be? Was the President of the country himself my client?
