CHAPTER 3

Early in the morning, Rachel, George and Samuel convened at a breakfast diner, however, Samuel sat a seat behind George and Rachel so as not to raise suspicions and so they spoke to Samuel through texts on a group chat.

“What’s the plan, Samuel?” George texted.

Samuel scanned the surrounding area before texting

“We’ll first find out about the meeting they had. I know a bunch of people that are werewolves but it seems they swore to hide their identities.” -SAMUEL, 9:57pm.

“What about the security guard?” -GEORGE, 9:58am.

“He’s not a priority for now. He never attends the meetings, I have observed.” -SAMUEL, 9:59am.

“Okay.” -GEORGE, 9:59am

“I have to use the restroom.” -RACHEL, 10:00am.

Rachel left her phone with George and headed for the restroom. On her way to the restroom she felt faint and weak. She leaned on the wall for support. The fluorescent bulb flickered and her sight was distorted. Normalcy was returned and Rachel could stand firm on her feet. It was a very strange feeling but she shrugged it off and thought it was just stress from the journey. She went into the restroom. She reached the sink and turned on the faucet. Her hands was beneath the running water. It’s ran all over her skin, cold and satisfying. She turned off the faucet and left the restroom. On her way back to George and Samuel, she was met by the man who was at her doorstep last night. The same tall and masked in black clothing and a letter. He, like before, handed the letter to Rachel. Rachel wasn’t hesitant to take the letter.

“The letter you gave to me last night, why?” Rachel asked but the man walked away. It wasn’t clear to her why he did not answer the question but she knew it was a serious issue. She opened the letter and read the content. It was the same as the last one. Rachel knew she had to be careful while in Silver Creek but these letters…very strange. She walked out of the restroom.

George and Samuel had a worried and irritated look on their faces as Rachel approached them.

“Iliana!” George loudly whispered “Where have you—”

“Shhhh!” Samuel whispered the silence from where he sat.

“Rachel...” George corrected “where have you been?”

“I’ve only been in the restroom.”

“for three hours?!”

“Ahem!” Samuel cautioned George in his voice.

“Three hours? I was only in there for mere three minutes.” Rachel clarified before taking up her phone to check what the time was three hours past the time she left for the restroom. Rachel furrowed her eyebrows in perplexed state. A ping rang out from their phones. It was a message from Samuel.

“I know what happened. If my guess is right, Rachel has fallen a victim to this strange power. There’s no time to explain. Let’s get our objective for today done.”-SAMUEL, 13:29pm

A media file was attached to the message. It was pictures of three persons. Two of which were male in early to late twenties and the last a female in early to late twenties.

“The first male, I believe his name is Christopher Sam and according to my research, he works in a bar called ‘Highs and Lows’. His shift starts, probably, now. George, you’ll meet this one. Try your best to get some sort of information. You’re a manipulative one.”-SAMUEL, 13:32pm.

“Okay.”-GEORGE, 13:33pm.

“Rachel, you’ll go to the female. Her name is Rosalina Hector. She works as a nurse in a clinic near the central town statue. There’s a giant red cross on the clinic building, you can’t miss it.”-SAMUEL, 13:35pm.

“Ok.”-RACHEL, 13:35pm.

“I’ll go to the last. There’s a small map I sent to both of you last night, use it. Text me if something goes wrong.” -SAMUEL, 13:36pm.

Rachel and George exited the diner together before Samuel followed.

Rachel, on her way to the clinic, studied her surroundings. Everyone seemed quite interactive and high spirited unlike the people at Shadow town. Rachel opened the map Samuel sent, she was close to the clinic.

As she walked to the clinic, she felt watched and inspected. She couldn’t get over the feeling; she was disturbed by it. She hastened her pace. She arrived at the clinic and hurriedly pushed the door, but was stopped by an image she caught at the corner of her eye. She walked back out and squinted at the figure of a young girl glaring at her at a hidden corner. Rachel noticed the girl’s glare, although she had a nose mask on; she could not ignore it.

Walking hastily to the girl around the corner, she was discontinued by something she felt earlier at the diner’s restroom. It wasn’t as hard as it was the last time. She kept on to the man in the corner. She finally arrived at the corner and was pulled in to the corner by the man.

“You have to leave this town.” The girl’s voice was distorted by the nose mask she wore but it was quite soft and charming.

“Why? Who are you?” Rachel asked, studying his eyes.

“That is information I cannot give you. You must leave this town, it is not safe for you to be here.”

“It does not sit well with me how a complete stranger I have never met in my whole life, comes to me and tells me to leave a town my brother and I have decided to settle in.”

“You’re a werewolf.” The young girl uttered leaving Rachel in a state of amazement.

“That can’t be true. Werewolf don’t ex—”

“You are a werewolf.” She repeated. “A werewolf of unknown identity, you must leave this town. I only advice you because I do not know where you are from.”

“How did you know? This is vague. Give me more.”

The girl turned her head as if she had just heard something. She, in an instant, left Rachel where she was.

“Wait…” Rachel went after the girl but by the time she emerged out of the corner, the girl was gone. Rachel had too many questions from who the man was to who the girl was and how the girl knew her little secret.

Sudden multiple pings rang out from her phone. It was almost frightening. She pulled out her phone and started at it; she felt her lungs seizing and her heart dropping. The time was 17:34pm and 99+ messages from George and Samuel.

“Shit.”
