CHAPTER 4
“RACHEL!!” “WHERE ARE YOU?!” “ILIANA!” “TEXT ME BACK!”
Many texts from Samuel and George flooded Rachel’s phone. She, without a waste of time, paced to the motel hoping they would be there waiting for her.
She arrived at the motel, rushing straight for Samuel’s room. It was locked. She tried George’s room, it was locked as well.
“Where are you?” Rachel texted as she went into her room. She did not move two steps away from the door before she heard a knock on the door. She hoped it was George or Samuel but as she opened the door, she met the young man with a letter in his hand.
Without a second thought, he was pulled into the room. The door was locked and Rachel guarded it.
“Who are you?” She asked. The young man did not give her an answer. “Who…are you?” Rachel asked again without moving her eyes away from his.
The young man walked up to her and stared her dead in the eyes for a moment.
“Look into the letter.” For the first time he spoke to Rachel. His voice was deep enough to command an entire army. It gave Rachel what she identified as chills. “I have more to say to you, however, not today. It’ll all be clear to you soon enough.”
Rachel collected the letter and opened it right in front of the young man. She read it out:
“YOU FORGOT AND THEY LEFT IN SEARCH. IT STARTS AT UNEXPECTED PLACES, BEWARE.”
“I don’t understand.” She said. “What does it mean ‘I forgot'?”
“What day is it today?” The man asked.
Rachel grabbed her phone out of her pocket and looked at the date. It was 15th March. This struck too much into her.
“It’s…the 15th of March?” She was confused. She could’ve sworn that it was February 11th and blamed her phone’s inaccurate clock setting. “I…don’t understand. What is this?”
The young man walked to her bed and sat on it. “Your teammates left you weeks ago.”
“That’s a lie. Stu—George and I, haven’t been here for three days.” Rachel argued.
“Have you even felt a weird feeling in the past 2 days you’ve been here or you thought?”
Rachel recalled the restroom and the hidden corner. At the same time, she remembered Samuel talking about a very uncommon occurrence that had him lost.
“I have.” She give him an answer.
AWOOO! A howl echoed through the now late night.
“I have to go now.” The man said as he stood up from the bed and walked to Rachel who was still guarding the door. He stood too close to Rachel and had his sight deep into hers.
“Tell me everything.” Rachel said to him.
“If you want to find out everything, become one of us.” Was the last thing the young man said before Rachel let him open the door and leave.
Rachel, or perhaps, Iliana rushed for her phone and she tried calling Stuart but it was to no avail, it was switched off. She tried Samuel, same thing. What has happened?! Iliana for the first time in her life, was scared.
She heard another knock on her door. She prayed it would be the young man but to her greatest surprise it was Samuel.
“Samuel!” She cried. “You’re here!”
“Iliana!” Samuel rushed in with a brief tight hug.
“come inside.” Iliana said as she led Samuel inside.
“We thought you were captured by the Silver Creek pack. We looked for you. We even dared to transform just to look for you. We could not find you. Stuart and I wanted to go back to Shadow town to give the messages in person but unfortunately…we were attacked by an enormous werewolf. We tried fighting it but there were more.”
“Where’s Stuart now?” Iliana asked but Samuel shook his head in negation. “And your phones?”
“They were destroyed.”
“Why were you attacked?” Iliana inquired.
“I don’t know but I have two guesses—They found out we were spies or whatever goes in…can never go out. After all, that was my first time of trying to leave this town.”
“Then we might be trapped.”
“Iliana, what happened to you?”
“I was near the clinic and before I knew it, it was already…the 15th of March.”
“It’s that mysterious power. We weren’t careful enough.”
Iliana and Samuel were both at a big loss with nothing in mind but everything.
“Samuel…” Iliana had an urge to tell Samuel about the people she has encountered.
“Yeah?” Samuel responded.
Iliana thought it through and did not think it was a good idea to tell Samuel about it just yet, however, she had another thing in mind.
“What if we plan an escape this night?”
Samuel was shocked by her question. “Are you mad? I tried that about a week ago and we have a mission teammate as a result.”
“Yes, but what if we tried it today? There’s a meeting going on now. Maybe if we tried. Without any vehicles because they seem to be noisy.”
“Iliana, I am not prepared to put you in danger. We will find a way to escape. Don’t think of the day time because I have tried.” Samuel opposed Iliana.
“We have to try again tonight.”
“And get killed by an enormous werewolf?!” Samuel felt an annoyance building up. “Just…get some sleep. Well figure out everything in the morning. I’m going to my room. It’s 017 now.” Samuel left Iliana alone in her room and she hoped for no more knocks on her door.
It was 2:16am and Iliana crept out of her bed. She moved ever so quietly. She reached out of the motel and she transformed to her werewolf form. Gray and white spotted wolf with dark blue eyes. She moved as though in stealth.
“Where are you going to?” A voice from behind rang into her ears; she froze. She transformed back into human. She heard the person moving closer to her. She felt a strong hands tap her shoulders. She turned to witness a tall male with a glowing golden eye on the right and a glowing silver on the right. It was a mesmerizing sight. Too alluring, she had to look away. She felt something grow inside her. It was a confusing moment for Iliana for she had never, for once, felt that way.
“Where are you going to?” He asked again. Iliana couldn’t answer “Where...are you going to?” He asked for the last time.
Iliana knew, without a doubt, that this person was an alpha.
