Chapter 11 - Moving into dangerous territory.
Ezra
I COULD SMELL HIM the moment he walked in, but I hadn’t figured out the dynamics of the school yet when the alpha walked right up to our table. It was understandable since I was sitting with one of his pack members and a human girl.
I couldn’t leave the town without finding out why I felt so drawn to Blanca. That meant possibly … Joining a pack to find out … The only way I knew how was to meet the alpha on neutral ground, which I could only guess was the school. After spending some time asking questions around town, I decided that would be my best option if I was really going to go through with this plan of getting to know Blanca.
Every part of my body was screaming for me to leave, but my heart just wouldn’t let me. There was something about her that made me feel as if I wanted to protect her. She was incredibly strong, that I didn’t doubt, and there wasn’t a feeling that she might be in any danger or anything. And that was how I found myself sitting opposite her pack alpha at their school.
“So, Ezra, what exactly are you doing with my mate?” Carlo took a sip of his milkshake, but I was more focused on what he had just said.
“I’m sorry, alpha. I didn’t know. I didn’t see the mark … I … I was just looking for a home. A pack that would accept me. Someplace I can call home.” I summed him up in two seconds flat. I had to play his game or there was no way I would ever get near her again. Especially now that I know she was mated. It made me wonder if I shouldn’t just leave it, but for some reason, I couldn’t.
He had a couple of normal questions like why didn’t I go straight to their border and ask to speak to him and I answered all of them as truthfully as I could. There were some things I knew I should keep to myself and my answers were what any rogue would tell any alpha when they were looking for a new home.
He looked impressed when he heard how long I had been on my own, which seemed to count in my favour, since packs were always looking for strong warriors, even if they were rogues. He told me about the other packs in the area and the neutral territory and suddenly a lot more made sense.
Blanca wasn’t gone for long and I guessed that he called her through their pack link. From her behaviour around Carlo thus far, I could tell that she didn’t like him very much, which I found incredibly intriguing. They were mates after all, weren’t they? Then he kissed her and her body went rigid and as soon as she pulled away from him the slap rang through the silent room before she stormed out. From the looks on the faces around us, I couldn’t really tell who was more shocked.
Were they mates?!
“Edward here will take you to grab your things and bring you to the pack house after school.” Carlo waved at a young boy who came running and nodded and I thanked Carlo for his kindness. I knew I would have to be very careful. There was no way an alpha would just accept a rogue into his pack and Carlo didn’t seem like the kind type.
I tried to catch up to Blanca on my way to the next class, but her human friend told me she stormed out and left, so I knew I would have to wait until I finally made it to their pack house. I was feeling excited about seeing her again, but apprehensive about going into pack territory. I hadn’t been onto pack territory in years! I knew the general rules, but being part of a pack was a different life to the one I had led thus far, but I couldn’t back out now.
I needed to see Blanca again. I needed to make sure she was okay.
Carlo
I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL I was thinking of kissing her, but with the rogue so close …It was clear that he liked her. Otherwise, why else would he want to join our pack? But I never expected Blanca to smack me. Not ever. Especially not in public.
If I hadn't been so damn shocked, I would probably have been proud of her, but I was getting a little tired of the fact that she thought she could do whatever she wanted without consequences.
“Babe! Are you okay?” Crystal sauntered over and touched my cheek and a shiver of disgust ran down the back of my spine. Ever since I found out that Blanca was my mate, I couldn’t bring myself to think about being with Crystal. No matter how hard I tried. I was suddenly disgusted by her. Her scent nauseated me!
“I’m fine.” I pushed her away and she pouted, but I didn’t pay her any attention. I had some things to arrange and an afternoon at school would get in the way of that. I wanted to test this rogue who appeared so suddenly in our lives. I wanted to keep him close so I could find out what it was he wanted and then I would decide if we would kill him.
He clearly made Blanca uncomfortable and that in itself was something I would pay to see on a daily basis!
Babe! Wait for me!” Crystal’s voice shrieked through the air as I slipped behind the wheel of my car and she gripped the door. “Where are you going? I could come with you. I could …” She licked her lips and I knew exactly what she meant and this time I physically shivered, feeling the nausea push up inside my throat.
“Crystal. I think it’s time you found some other cock to suck. I’m done with you.” I winked, smiled, and closed the door. Watching her shocked face grow smaller in the rearview mirror as I drove off. If that girl thought I would ever make her Luna, she had better think again. There was no way, even if she was the last female werewolf in this world, that I would make her Luna.
She was a skank and everybody knew it. Did she honestly think I didn’t know about her extra-curricular activities with other men? I sighed as I pulled into the parking lot at home. I had forgotten that Edward would need the car this afternoon, so I grabbed one of the warriors nearby and told them to take the car back to school.
It reminded me that I really needed to buy more cars. It was just stupid that only two people in the pack owned cars. Of course, I wouldn’t buy the rest of them expensive cars, but at least then nobody would have to use mine anymore. I noted that Blanca’s car was back and frowned.
She would never have left school early unless she was …
“Carlo!” My mother’s growl could be heard clearly across the clearing in front of the house and I rolled my eyes. Of course … Blanca had to rush home and tell her parents to tell my parents and now I was going to get it! Why was I being punished this way?!
“Mother … I can’t talk. I have a lot to do. We have a new rogue member coming this afternoon and I want to make sure the warriors are prepared.” I sighed, making my way inside where my father didn’t say a word. He just glared at me. I nodded and walked into my office knowing they would follow.
“How could you just allow a rogue to come here?” My mother threw her arms in the air, looking frustrated, and I frowned.
“Is that what you are so angry about?” I sat down not taking my eyes off her for one second. “Not the fact that I kissed my mate who I rejected?” I shook my head but the look of shock on her face told me that Blanca hadn’t told them! What did she tell them then? Why was my mother so angry?
“You kissed Blanca?” My father frowned, standing with his hands on his hips and I nodded. I sighed and told them what happened and how the rogue ended up being invited to join us. Only then did I find out that my mother was angry about the rogue and didn’t know about the kiss.
Blanca hadn’t told them and my mother was sure that she hadn't told her parents. She did, however, tell them about Ezra and what I asked her to do and that was why everyone was so furious with me. Well, that and the fact that I didn’t discuss it with my parents first. I didn’t see the need. I was the alpha. I was in charge, wasn’t I?
