Chapter 42 - Other-worldly intervention

Blanca

I WOKE UP IN A POOL OF SWEAT with Carlo pulling me into his arms, whispering that it was okay. However, I couldn’t shake this awful feeling that something was seriously wrong. I needed to do something that I wasn’t sure if Carlo would be able to handle it. I pulled out of his arms and got off the bed, pacing back and forth beside the bed.

“I need to do something and I need you not to freak out, okay?” I stopped pacing, and when I looked at Carlo, he looked confused. “Okay,” I sighed deeply and sat down on the bed. “Something is wrong, Carlo. Something serious. I need to speak to my friends to find out.” I closed my eyes for a moment, unable to actually look at him for that moment. When I opened my eyes, his were wide.

“Okay, uhm … Do you need anything?” He got off the bed and started looking around a little frantically. “Candles, you probably need candles.” He walked over to the cabinet and I burst out laughing.

“No … I talk to them normally just like I’m talking to you, but I’ve asked them not to come into our room because I didn’t want you thinking ghosts were standing around our bed watching us.” I sighed when his eyes grew even wider!

“Okay … This is a lot to take in.” He pulled his fingers through his hair and I walked over to him, slipping my arms around his waist to help him calm down a little. We talked about my gift a lot, but I had made sure up to now that he didn’t see me talking to the ghosts. I tried, at least.

“Please, just have a seat and don’t worry, okay?” I felt him relax for a moment, but as soon as I moved away, I could feel him tense up a little. I needed to do this quickly. I stood in the middle of the room, breathed in, and closed my eyes.

“Elizabeth, are you there?” I slowly opened my eyes hoping she would be there, but she wasn’t. I walked over to the door and opened it and found her standing on the other side with one raised eyebrow. “Elizabeth, please come in. I need your help.” Her eyes snapped at where Carlo was sitting looking incredibly confused while I explained to her that he didn’t have the gift. Of course, I didn’t have to explain it to her, or to him. They both already got it, but I still felt the need to explain.

“Anyway,” I sighed when I was done. “What is going on?”

“A lot, but you haven’t been around.” Her voice drifted into my head. Things on her side were strange. She never spoke out loud, yet I heard her voice.

“I’m sorry, Elizabeth. I’ve just been dealing with things. I’m sorry.” I took a step closer and she took a step back. “I’m here now, please, can you forgive me?”

“I can never stay angry at you for long. Listen, that other boy … He is in serious trouble, Blanca.” Carlo kept interrupting, so I had to tell him everything that Elizabeth was saying. It felt like a knife to my heart when she told me what Ezra had done. My heart shattered. Although I chose Carlo, and I didn’t feel my mate bond with Ezra, I still cared. I understood that he was hurt, but the fact that he could go to such lengths to hurt me! Why?!

“So, he has actually gone as far as putting a hit out on you?” By now, Carlo was up on his feet pacing back and forth. He was furious!

“Well, he did try to stop it, but it was too late, Blanca. He already gave the monster man your information and they are coming for you.” Elizabeth’s voice rang in my head, but I was in shock. I started pacing in the opposite direction to Carlo. His arms appeared out of nowhere and he pulled me in as I breathed in his scent and felt my entire body calm down.

Elizabeth said goodbye and disappeared so that Carlo and I could have some time to process it. I could feel something was going on, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that Ezra would go to such lengths!

“Okay, I am going to double your guard. The only place I can think of that they will try to take you is at school, so we might have … To …” I was glaring at him before he could even finish his sentence.

“I’m not going to stop going to school! I need to finish my senior year and if I don’t go to every class, I’m going to fail!” Being the Luna already meant I couldn’t go to university! I wasn’t going to give up my senior year as well! “I didn’t do that, Carlo! Ezra did, so why the hell should I be punished!” Tears filled my eyes and he pulled me into his arms. He knew how I felt about completing my senior year. I didn’t have to tell him. I just couldn’t help myself.

I was going to become a prisoner in my own life! Carlo wasn’t happy about it, but he told me he would make a couple of calls and that, apparently, there was no way I would even notice the extra guards. The moment I walked out of the room, however, three gammas jumped to attention … OUTSIDE MY BEDROOM DOOR!

“I thought I wouldn’t even know they were there!!” I shouted as soon as I walked into his office. His parents were there with his beta and they were all huddled together. They all went silent as soon as I walked into the room and I rolled my eyes. “All of you out! I need to speak to my mate.” I growled and they all left us alone to talk.
