Party

CHAPTER ONE

Kayla's POV

It was the ray of light hitting my closed eyelids that woke me up.

My head hurt as I opened my eyes to the daylight filling the room, my eyes groggy and my body feeling like a truck was dropped on it by mistake. I yawned and sat up slowly from the bed, letting out a low wince from the pain I was feeling in between my legs and my entire body. I itched my hair and with bleary eyes, I glanced around the room, only for my head to come quickly to the realisation that I was in a room that wasn't mine, and that I was naked underneath the bed's duvet, causing my heart to begin palpating

What was I doing naked underneath the bed cover in a room that wasn't mine?!

And why was my body hurting so bad?

In a bid to rack my brain for the answers that didn't seem to come, my eyes caught sight of a neatly folded piece of paper on the bedside table. I instinctively picked it up and unfolded the paper to read the content, and it literally shook me to my bone marrow.

It was nice getting to know you more, Pretty face. Last night was hot, and I hope I get to see you again. Xoxo, was written with a very perfect calligraphic handwriting on the paper. I read and reread the words again, laying extra focus on the words ‘Last night,’ and ‘hot’.

The only explanation my head could fathom at that moment made my eyes widen as I released in horror, a gasp, covering a hand over my mouth.

“Crap no,” I uttered. Memories flooded my mind. From Melanie and I going to a party a guy friend of hers threw on the Isle a place miles away from home where practically all rich kids go to have fun and party last night, getting wasted and saying some shitty stuff I normally wouldn't say, to coming here with a guy whose face I can't seem to picture out in my memory, who apparently, I'd had a hot last night with.

A hot last night that certainly, probably lost my virginity in.

And not being able to remember the man's facial appearance bothered me as much as the virginity I'd recently lost.

“Congratulations on finally popping your cherry,” Melanie would say if I ever told her and this; going to a party and losing my virginity to a man I could barely remember. She'd always been wanting it to happen, and had invited me to multiple parties which I'd politely turned down, till this one that got her the jackpot.

His build was the only thing that I could remember vaguely. Broadened shoulders that I remember I'd wanted to touch so bad…

“No, no, no, this is not happening,” I muttered in horrified disbelief as I searched with my eyes for any sign of my clothes.

Mom's reminder about a woman's virginity being priceless rang through my head repeatedly like a mocking bell to the very act that I'd woken up and discovered that I've done.

She'd always been sanctimonious about a woman's dignity and sanctity that she'd never actually allowed me to have guys close to me with intentions more than a pure friendship. She was practically the one that made me miss knowing how it felt to have a boyfriend in highschool (like my other mates did), and getting my first kiss in highschool with my crush, or atleast a guy (although I got it in an after grad celebration bonfire where I'd been dared to kiss Houston, a lanky, long foreheaded fellow grad mate that year).

If she knew this had happened, she'd definitely have my head for throwing the morals she'd been teaching me all my life out the window.

If only I didn't allow Melanie coax me into going to the stupid party…

And I hadn't gotten wasted, but had instead stayed in my dorm room and read for my upcoming exams, I wouldn't have been in this mess.

I found my clothes (which thankfully, I remembered wearing) neatly folded and placed onto the small red sofa at a corner in the room. It didn't strike me as the right position for those clothes to be in, given the brief description of what had happened last night that I couldn't recall, but I pulled up the duvet to cover myself as I stood (I self consciously never made the habit of being naked in a room, alone or not), making little winces at the stinging pain I was feeling from the area which I'd been defiled. I made a step towards the sofa when the loud melody of Fat Rat's ‘Monody’ blared through the room. I turned my gaze in the direction from which the melody — which I recall to be my cell's ringtone — came.

I grabbed my clothes from the sofa and was about to turn when another piece of paper dropped from the clothes. With frowned brows, I bent and picked up the paper.

Another note with the same perfect calligraphy.

Properly setting your clothes was the least I could do for you before you wake up. You sleep pretty too, with a pretty face.

The letter melted my heart that I almost reasoned this man — whomever he was — was a proper boyfriend material, for him to be nice enough to properly dress my clothes and leave notes.

Gawd! Why can't just a memory of him come back to me!?

I reached towards my phone on the bedside table, as it had already rung once and had begun ringing again, picked it up, and looked into it.

Mel, with so many heart emoticons, read the caller ID.

“Babe! What's up? Where are you?!” Mel boomed into my ears the moment I swiped the answer button. “I looked for you all over Fred's mansion (Fred's the guy whose party we went to) while calling your line a million times and I couldn't find you,”

“Mel,” I said in a low whimper as my hand palmed my face.

“K, is everything alright? Where are you?” she asked. I could feel the concern and seriousness heighten in her voice

“I don't know, Mel. I-i just woke up in this room —”

“OMG, Kayla, you were kidnapped!? Where —”

“No, listen to me!” I interrupted her and she kept quiet on her end, probably paying rapt attention to hear what I'd tell her.

“It's a hotel room,” I told her. Her line went dead static for a moment, like she was trying to process what I'd said, before she uttered,

“Let me get this straight, you were kidnapped and taken to a hotel room?” she said and I palmed my face, releasing a frustrated sigh.
