Chapter 3

CHAPTER 3

Alyssa shook her head vigorously, reluctant to believe she has actually been transported to a different place entirely simply because of a stupid book. The book really didn’t seem to have anything special about it, she thought.

But she couldn’t dismiss it at all because she was right now in front of a guy she had no idea of previously and all she had done was open a book she found in the storage unit of a museum she was working in and that seemed to be evidence that the book had had something to do with her suddenly transmigrating because it was the last thing she held.

“This can’t be happening”, Mitchell muttered to herself as she stared around at the grand room she was in.

“Is there a problem, Alyssa?”, The man asked, staring curiously at her as the guards left the room.

Alyssa didn’t reply as she was too terrified and she wanted to go back home. She stepped back slowly, watching the man suspiciously before turning and booking it to the part of the room where she believed she had entered through but when she got there, all she saw was a solid cement wall and no sign of a door.

Alyssa was growing increasingly panicked at this discovery. “Didn’t there used to be door somewhere here?”, She asked the only other person in the room.

“No, there has never been a door there before”, He stated, his eyes glinting with amusement and a bit of intrigue.

“Oh God, I must be going crazy. What am I saying, I am being crazy”, Alyssa murmured and began to pace around the room.

The man sighed. “Will you stop walking about? It’s quite noisy and upsetting”. His voice came from behind her.

She turned to stare at him. “Where am I then?”, She asked and he laughed, and she paused, staring at how his beautiful orbs glowed.

“Are you kidding me right now? Is this some new thing you’re up to thinking it would catch my attention? I mean it is but it’s not in a good way. Besides”, He continued, giving her a derisive once-over, “What on Earth do you think you’re wearing? And where are you getting these weird ideas from? You think dressing up as a cleaner is seductive? It might have worked with any other girl but just not you”.

Alyssa rolled her eyes. “I didn’t dress up for you. I barely know you enough to do anything to appeal to you. I asked you bout where I am and your self-inflated ego hasn’t allowed you to answer that yet”.

“Is this another scheme you’re working on? You don’t know who you are, who I am, where you live, where you’re currently in? Why kind of a stupid joke is that? I expected you to be a lot smarter since you’re starting to grow up a little but every time we meet that’s beginning to seem more and more unlikely”.

“ shut up and answer me”, Alyssa demanded and he glared at her.

“This is the palace, my palace…in my kingdom. Don’t start pretending like you have no idea about where the hell you are. You came here if your own volition and we were just talking before that girl came in. You said you were going out to get something but of course you would eavesdrop on our conversation”.

What were we talking about?”, Alyssa asked, filtering out all the unnecessary information he was passing across to her.

“We weren’t really conversing, just you being your normal usual self and confessing about how you feel about me. What? Are you pretending to be shy now?”.

“I was confessing my feelings towards you? What kind of feelings? Dislike, distrust and distaste about how smug you always seem to look?”.

“You really want me to remind you?” He asked and took a step forward towards her.

Alyssa cautiously backed away at his sudden approach and she continued to until her back slammed against the wall behind her and he was standing close to her, their breaths mingling and his eyes staring deep into hers.

He placed his hands on either sides of her to stop her from fleeing and in normal circumstances, she would have scoffed at how cliché this was but there was something about him that made her speechless and vulnerable.

“Well, I’ll also give you my response”, He said, staring down at her as her cheeks grew warmer as she felt his gaze slide over her face, neck and stop at her chest. “You told me that you like me”, He added and her eyes widened in shock.

“My response to that will always be the same, Alissa. I don’t like you and I really doubt that I ever will and I also don’t want you on my life, even as just a bed companion like you pleaded. If you come to me again with this same issue again, I will not only through you out of my home, but out of the capital too. Leave”, He said, and stepped away from her and walked to a table, picking up a glass.

Alyssa got over the shock of his statement pretty quickly and sneered at the man. Right from the moment she heard his conversation with that young girl at the beginning, she already knew he was quite big headed and way too confident about his looks and status. Back in her world, an idiot like him would be called out and jointly dissed by as many people as possible. Who did he really think he was? She refused to believe that she had told him that she liked him and she was still incredibly confused about the situation with this strange place and the book. Regardless of who he was but she definitely wasn’t going to let him get away with talking to her like that.

“You really do think you’re something, aren’t you? Simply because you had a Hemsworth-like face and body you think you’re down sort of a special person? You really aren’t that good looking and if I ever thought you were, you ruin it every single time you open that mouth if yours to speak. People like you should speak a lot less to at least allow people to think your appearance is worth something because your attitude isn’t”.

“What?”. His eyes darkened dangerously but Alyssa didn’t care. She was on a roll and while somewhere at the back of her mind, alarm bells kept blaring, she still kept on, wanting to get it all out of her system.

“You look like you’re in your late twenties and you still aren’t about bragging about your family’s wealth and using it to oppress everyone around you at any given chance. You think someone like me would ever like you? You’re sorely mistaken if that’s what you have cooking up in your head”.

“Do you have any idea about who you’re talking to? Have you gone mad?”, He asked, surprising brightening his eyes and in that moment, Alyssa felt quite powerful and superior.

“Men like you don’t deserve any one. You should be left to rot alone for the rest of your life”, She ended with a smile, looking pleased with herself for scolding him.

She turned around and walked out of the room, feeling proud of herself. That should get his brain working for a while, she thought.

As soon as she closed the door behind her, her smile dropped off her face. She had no idea where to go or head towards to get out of this house and back to the museum. What would she do if he had gotten so annoyed that he wanted to kill her after all she said. He seemed to be wealthy and had quite the number of guards and he could easily murder her and hide her body since she was in his home. Her apprehension rose as these thoughts flooded her mind and she grew nervous.

Looking back at the door behind her where a loud crashing sound ensued, she panicked and ran off into an unknown destination.
