Chapter 4
CHAPTER 4
Luther Wellington stared at the closed door in front of him in surprised anger. He could hear the shuffling of feet just outside and recalling the disdain clearly written on her face when she spoke to him, he threw the glass against the wall and watched it shatter into pieces. He could hear her start running and he ran his hand through his hair, thinking about what had just happened. Did we really say all those things to him with that disgusted look on her face? That was impossible. He must have seen and heard wrong. Words like that couldn’t come out of a woman who had fainted at the sight of him when they were younger and who had just minutes ago poured out her heart and feelings towards him and begged him to take her in, even if all she did was warm his bed.
“Men like you don’t deserve anyone. You should be left to rot alone for the rest of your life”. His expression grew grimmer as he remembered the last words she spoke before she left the room. A thought sparked in his mind. She must have been quite bitter about the fact that he had rejected her so harshly that she had immediately just blurted out random combination of words to make him feel upset and hurt in return.
And what on earth was a Hemsworth? Was that a new word or slang she had heard around? Was it a new adjective for handsome that he had missed? He shook his head. He really needed to know more about what the kids were learning these days.
He sat on his chair, recalling some of the sweet words she had spoken whenever she had the pleasure of being in his presence.
“Anything you say, your majesty”.
“But I really, really like you”.
“No matter how much you push me away, I will always come back to you”.
“My place is forever at your side”.
“I would give my everything and all to you. You own all of me and you can have me whenever you want”.
She had always been very eager to please him and had been willing to do everything in her power to get his attention. Hell, this might even be her new ploy to get him in her grasp.
But this wasn’t the first time he had brutally rejected her and she had always ran off crying or hanging onto his clothes, begging him to make her his. Nothing had ever prompted her to raise her voice or insult him or behave in such a rude manner. Not that she ever had the right to do that.
He got up from the soft upholstered chair that he had been reclining on. He had to speak to her again and find out what was wrong with her and then punish her duly for being utterly disrespectful and insulting.

Alyssa walked around the huge palace, amazed that someone’s home could be this large and had some many rooms. The floors were made of marble and even the curtains that hung randomly on the huge windows were made from the finest materials. Her panic had evaporated and she began to feel like she was on some sort of an excursion. She knew the right thing for her to do was run and the right emotion for the moment was fear and anxiety but the mansion was so beautiful that she couldn’t help but be distracted.
She shook her head, she had to start thinking about how to get out of this maze like house and not to not get caught wandering and intruding into rooms that weren’t her concern.
As she was thinking about this, a girl ran towards her while waving. Alyssa was tempted to run but she saw the bright smile on the girl’s face and she stopped, giving her a distrustful look. Besides, the girl looked quite small, if she tried anything funny, she was sure she could easily take her.
“Milady”, She girl said when she got close enough with a low curtsy. “Are you ready to leave now?”.
“Do you know me?”, Alyssa asked, eyeing her cautiously.
“Of course, milady. Are you playing around with this lowly one again?”, The girl asked with a wide smile.
Then it occurred to her that if the girl didn’t know her, she wouldn’t call out to her. And what was this 'milady' thing she kept saying? It sounded like something from the movies.
“Have you spoken to the king already? What was his response?”, She asked, looking jolly and excited.
“What are you talking about? What was I going to talk to him about?”.
The girl’s eyes widened. “This morning, you said you were going to confess your feelings to him again today to see if he would accept you. I tried stop convince you not to but you looked so hopeful that I thought you really might have a chance. What happened, milady? Did her refuse you? Or did you not end up talking to him?”.
Alyssa scrunched up her face and discontinued talk on that matter. Right now, her main priority was leaving the darn palace.
“If you brought me in here, then we can leave together, right?”, Alyssa asked and the girl nodded.
“Then please, let’s get out of here”, Alyssa told her and when the girl saw her distressed expression, she nodded hastily and led her on the right path out of the palace.
They had just reached the front of the house and Alyssa was about to heave a sigh of relief when she heard someone call out to her and that voice sounded quite familiar.
“Alyssa!”, Alyssa turned reluctantly at the sound and the saw the arrogant ass standing behind them. How did he get to her so quickly? She bonked herself on the head internally. If she hadn’t spent so long sightseeing in a strange place, then we probably would have gotten out a lot earlier. Anyway, they were amongst other people out here and he definitely wouldn’t dare to attack her. She was pretty confident about that until everyone in the vicinity bowed towards him and her eyes widened almost to the size of saucers. She did hear the girl refer to him as a king but she didn’t think he actually was one. She hoped he wasn’t.
Besides, was this some sort of 5th century styled world or something? The décor, the 'milady’ shit and now this?, Alyssa thought as she saw him walk towards her accompanied by guards.
“We weren’t done talking”, He said as he got to where she stood.
“But I was”, Alyssa answered, sassily.
“I said I we weren’t through. So get back into the palace”, He said, through gritted teeth.
“Says who?” , Alyssa responded loudly and see heard a gasp come from the girl beside her. A quick glance around at the people that stood in front and she could see looks of shock and surprise. She wondered what they were being so dramatic for.
The man looked quite surprised himself. “You dare to question my authority? No one has ever done that before”, He said and now he looked quite angry.
Alyssa rolled her eyes. What a cliché thing to say! Had he been reading cheap romance novels and memorizing their words? Well, she also had quite the classic comeback for him.
“Maybe you should start getting used to the feeling that you’re not going to have your way all of the time. The sooner you get comfortable and make peace with the that, the better it would be for you, honestly. I’m sorry, if I’m the first to do that, but I really am not in the mood to engage in a conversation with you right now”.
His brilliant blue eyes hardened and his jaw that was so hard it could cut glass tightened as he glared at her. She could see anger, disdain and something else swirling in his azure pools. She didn’t think she wanted to wait to find out what the other thing was. That was when she realized that if he really owned the entire kingdom, then he really could just have his guards separate her head from her body right here. She probably shouldn’t be making him so upset because if he did try to murder her, no one her would try or have the power to stop him.
She reached for the hand of the other girl and pulling her, began to run as fast as she could. She really hoped they wouldn’t be chased after.
