CHAPTER 9

“That wasn’t quite as terrible as I thought it would be”, He told her, touching his lips and he stared longing at hers. She glared at him and rubbed at her lips in disgust.

“How dare you touch me", She yelled and she saw his guards stiffen.

Luther rolled his eyes at her. “Why are you acting so surprised? It was just a little kiss”.

“A kiss which meant everything to me. A kiss that was my first”, She said, loudly.

“Your first kiss? Are you kidding me right now?”.

Alyssa realized that she was speaking for herself. She didn’t even know if the Allisa of this world would have had her first kiss already. Or even tons of kisses. She knew next to nothing about her.

“You’ve already had your first kiss. With me”.

Alyssa scrunched up her face. “You?”.

“Of course. Why are you suddenly pretending to not remember all the times I could have had you become a head shorter? All the times you would randomly jump on me without permission and then Rin away after? Let’s just day today’s encounter is me forcing a kiss on you like you’ve been doing to me for a really long time”, He said, walking towards her, trying to reach for her hand.

Alyssa pushed him away from herself and feeling upset, she slapped him across the face.

The guards who were a little way from them rushed forward but with a wave of Luther’s hand, they stopped and stepped back.

Alyssa sneered at them. They watched him assault her but they were trying to rush at her when she assaulted him back. There was a difference in the way they both did it but it was still the same thing.

“You’ve never raised your hand to me before regardless if whatever I did. What caused this now?”, Luther asked, calmly, rubbing his face with a glint of interest flashing in his eyes.

Alyssa frowned at the strange look in his eyes. He looked like he had enjoyed getting hit. Was she conversing with a masochist right now? At least that meant that she probably wouldn’t get beheaded if she decided to start hitting him more.

“That’s go you to realize that j want nothing to do with you. If you can, please forget that I exist or that we even know each other. I might have liked you and did a lot of crazy things in the past for and to you but I can promise you today that it won’t ever happen again. I don’t want to have anything to do with someone like you. I must have been blind to like you”, She told him and curtsied slightly and began to head off.

“Is that what you really want?”, His voice came from behind her.

Alyssa paused. It might not be what the real Allisa wanted but as long as she was here, she didn’t want to have him around her. She knew she was being selfish ad was potentially ruining the changes that Allisa had with the man she had lived since she was little but no matter how sorry she was, she could stand being around him.

She turned to him. “Yes. That is exactly what I want”.

Luther nodded. “Very well. As long as this is your stand on the issue I would not and honestly, do not want to stop you from making this decision. Go home and repeat exactly what you have just said to me back to them. From now onwards, you have ceased to be my problem. You’re now solely your parents'”, He said and got on top of his horse before bowing curtly to her and riding off with his guards trailing behind him, with two of them eyeing her dolefully as they stayed to escort her back home.

Alyssa watched him leave and see couldn’t help feeling s little bad about what she did and chasing him away. She knew she was starting to feel something for him which was rare and funny to her because she had never caught herself ever liking anyone before. From the way he behaved, she knew he probably liked her too but she was unsure if the person he liked was her or Allisa, the girl that was actually supposed to be here. She shook her head. It wasn’t the time for her to get too into her emotions. There was barely enough time for to find the book and leave. She had to hurry up.

She met up with Rin who quietly let her back into the car and they began the journey back home. On their way, Alyssa kept thinking back to what Luther had told her before leaving. What did he mean by telling her that she was no longer his problem but her parents’? Was there something going on that she wasn’t aware of? Thinking back to how easily she could go into and out of his home without any problem, she felt confused. That wasn’t something just anyone could do.

She wondered what kind of relationship the king and Allisa had. It was very obvious that Allisa liked Luther and very much but it was also very obvious how much he disdained her. He made it clear with his words and behavior that he didn’t like her and wasn’t interested in her, romantically or otherwise. But today, he had kissed her and she was sure that this was what he routinely did. He treated Allisa like trash and whenever she got tired of him and tried to cut him lose and count her losses, he would do something spontaneous and living that would make her fall back into his arms again to be abused emotionally.

The thought of his actions made her disgusted and almost nauseous. She was happy that she had made her position clear and that she would hopefully never be seeing him again.

During the drive, Rin had been unusually quiet and made Alyssa feel uncomfortable. She knew she had probably worried the girl half to death when she pulled a disappearing act on her but she didn’t know what to say to her. She could tell that Rin wanted to ask where she had run off to but whenever it seemed like she wanted to talk, she would close her mouth again.

Alyssa honestly was too tired to be wondering about when Rin would confront her so when they got home, she briefly greeted her parents and politely excused herself, going straight to her room and tried to fall asleep.

For hours, she tossed and turned, trying to find a way to make sense of being in a strange place, not knowing what to do or say. She could feel subtle waves of panic hitting her at the thought of never finding her way back home.
