CHAPTER FOUR: HIS PERSISTENCE

CHAPTER FOUR; HIS PERSISTENCE

BLANC'S POV

"Okay, Mr. Blanc, you can sit next to Miss Denise over there," the teacher said, pointing in Denise's direction. Suddenly, our eyes met, and I found myself tongue-tied.

As I sat next to her, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked. She had a lovely outfit on that showed off her style. She was wearing baggy jeans and a baggy shirt with pretty flower designs, and the soft colors suited her well.

Her hair was packed in a messy bun, creating a neat and tidy look. It was shiny and smooth, and the way the light touched it made it look even more beautiful. It framed her face nicely and brought out the sparkle in her eyes.

She sat with confidence and a friendly smile, making me feel comfortable around her. I hadn't realized how stunning she was until now, and I felt lucky to be sitting close to someone so special.

"Can you stop staring?" she said rudely, but there was a hint of a smile on her face.

I tried to read her mind, but for some reason, I wasn't able to.

"I'm sorry, please don't feel uneasy," I said politely, but she hissed.

"Why are you so polite? I hate it with passion," she said, and I was surprised.

Vampires are naturally polite and cool-headed, and I don't know how to control that.

"I'm sorry if I sounded too polite," I apologized, but she scoffed.

"Shut up, you are acting weird," she said and hissed.

I kept quiet and didn't say anything.

DENISE'S POV:

I didn't know why he was being nice to me, but something wasn't right. I could feel it.

I ignored his stares throughout the class and prayed that he wouldn't have any other classes with me.

He looked too handsome to be human, and he talked too politely too. Maybe he's trying to impress me, I thought, brushing off the idea with a shake of my head.

The bell rang, and I was relieved that the period was over.

"I have English next, what about you?" Blanc asked, and I immediately checked my timetable to see what class I had next.

"Shit!" I cursed under my breath.

"What's the problem? Hope you're alright," he asked, standing up from his seat.

"Fuck, I'm okay, and stop being nice," I warned him again, and he nodded in agreement.

"What class do you have next?" he asked, and I suspected he somehow knew my timetable. But I dismissed the suspicion since he's a new student who doesn't even know his way around the school, so how could he know my timetable?

"I have English next, but I'm not walking with you," I said.

I stood up, picked up my tote bag, and headed straight for the door.

"Hey, wait for me," Blanc said, trying to catch up with my pace.

"I'm not gonna wait for you," I said sternly.

"Who are you going to walk with, then?" he asked, and I noticed he had an old-fashioned accent, but I ignored it.

"I'm going to walk alone. Have you never done that, Mr. Polite?" I asked, and he chuckled.

"I have always walked alone. I'm not a loner, neither am I rude to people," he said after catching up with my pace.

"Fine," I relented, realizing it wasn't worth arguing over. "You can walk with me, but don't expect me to be all friendly and chatty."

"Fair enough," Blanc replied with a smile, seemingly unfazed by my gruff demeanor. Together, we walked through the bustling hallways, surrounded by the chatter and laughter of other students.

As we made our way to the English classroom, I couldn't help but steal glances at Blanc from the corner of my eye. There was an air of mystery about him, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to him than met the eye. But I pushed those thoughts aside, reminding myself that getting close to anyone would only lead to disappointment.

"We're here," I stated as we reached the English classroom, my voice devoid of any warmth.

Blanc nodded and followed me inside, scanning the room for an empty seat. I noticed Audrey, my close friend, sitting at the back and waved him over. He seemed surprised to see Blanc with me, but he welcomed him nonetheless.

"Hey, Denise! Who's this?" Audrey asked, his eyes darting between Blanc and me.

Blanc smiled warmly at Audrey and extended a hand. "Nice to meet you, Audrey. Denise and I happened to be in the same classes, so we thought we'd walk together."

Audrey shook Blanc's hand, a mischievous grin forming on his face. "Well, welcome to our little group, Blanc. Just be warned, Denise here can be a bit prickly."

I shot Audrey a glare, but he just laughed it off. I knew he meant no harm, but I didn't want Blanc to think I was an easy person to get along with.

Blanc took a seat behind me, and the class began to fill up with other students. The teacher entered the room, signaling the start of the lesson. I tried my best to focus on the material, but my mind kept wandering, my thoughts lingering on the enigmatic presence beside me.

Midway through the lesson, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to find Blanc looking at me, his expression earnest.

"Hey, Denise. Mind if I join you?" he asked, his polite tone contrasting with my earlier coldness. He wanted to seat belt to me.

"What part of 'fuck off' didn't you understand?" I retorted, my guard immediately going back up.

Blanc's face fell, and he looked hurt. "I'm sorry if I've done something to upset you. I just thought we could be friends."

"Well, you thought wrong. Just leave me alone," I snapped, turning back to face the front, regret washing over me.

The rest of the class went by in a blur, my mind clouded with emotions. I couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for pushing Blanc away, even though I had built those walls for my own protection. I wanted to believe that genuine connections were possible, but I just couldn't.

After what seemed like an eternity, the class finally ended. I quickly gathered my things and rushed out of the classroom, not wanting to confront Blanc again.

As I made my way through the crowded hallway, I felt a presence behind me. I turned around to find Blanc chasing after me.
