Chapter 8

"From now on, I'm going to be ten times more stubborn than you."

Saying this with a smirk, he walked away from me as I glared at him for making me wear his t-shirt forcefully. I wanted to take it out now, but an idea popped into my head. With a smirk on my face, I walked back to the ground. Alisha looked at me with narrowed eyes as she saw me wearing her boyfriend's t-shirt. I walked towards Jason, who was standing there talking with Kevin. He was standing there too, shirtless.

"Let's start the game," I said while looking at Kevin, who looked at me and then at the shirt I was wearing with raised eyebrows. He nodded his head, and we took our position. Alisha blew the whistle, and before Kevin could take the ball, I took it from under his nose with lightning speed, making him curse. Alisha was cheering for them, making me roll my eyes. Now I was more determined to not let them win. I smirked as I started going towards the goal, and Kevin was chasing me. He was about to snatch the ball when I passed it to Jason. He started chasing Jason as I kept following him. We were both trying not to let the brothers take the ball, and I kicked the ball, making a goal. Jason and I cheered in happiness as we high-fived each other. My first goal. I smirked, looking at them.

"I will not let you achieve your goal even once," I said in a challenging tone as I smirked at Kevin and his brother standing behind him. Listening to my words, he tilted his head to meet my gaze with his amber one, and suddenly a cunning smirk climbed up his lips, making my smirk dim, but I didn't let it pass. The look on his face gave me a bad feeling, but I ignored it to focus on my game.

We again started, and I again kicked the ball before Kevin could do it. I was about to pass the ball when the ball was snatched away from me at the same speed, making me gasp in surprise. He flashed me his smirk as he waved me bye. He took away the ball from me, and before I knew it, he kicked the ball, making a goal. My eyes widened because the goal was still a long way from where he kicked. Kevin jumped as if he were the one who scored it. Amber's eyes fell on me with the same smirk on his face as he walked towards me as sweat slid on his upper naked body, making my mouth go dry as the sweat on his body made his skin look gold under the sun. My eyes were still stuck on him. He walked towards me with the same smirk on his face.

"Long way to go, kiddo," he said as he ruffled my hair and walked past me. My jaw clenched as he called me a kiddo. That's what he thinks about me. I'm still a kid in his eyes. That's why he got a girlfriend. His words fueled the fire in me.

"I will show him I'm not the kid," I said in my mad voice as I curled my finger in my fist.

"Luna came." I heard Jason calling my name, and that's when I realised I was still stuck in the same place from where he snatched the ball from me. We again started, and now he was standing in front of me with the same smirk on his face, making me glare at him.

"Go captain," Alisha said in her proud voice, making me look at him as his smirk widened. So he is the captain of the university, and he uses his experience against me. If he is the captain of his university team, I'm the captain of my school team. I kept glaring at him with the same intensity burning in my eyes. Again, Alisha blew the whistle, and this time I kept my eyes on the ball I was about to take. But he again snatched it at the same speed, making me yell in annoyance. I ran behind him and kicked the ball when he was about to pass Kevin.

"Luna this way," Jason yelled as he stood towards the goal. I was successful in keeping the football out of his reach.

"Take it!" I yelled to Jason as I was near him with a smirk on my face, but even before the ball could make it to him, he kicked the ball into the goal.

"Yes," Kevin howled at the victory of his brother's second goal as I stood dumbfounded there. I was breathing heavily as I eyed the ball, sweat drops dripping from my face. His every kick was so powerful that every time the ball made it into the goal, it was making me annoyed to the next level. He flashed me his cunning smile as he winked at me, and I kept looking at him with a grim face as my chest rose and fell. Defeat in football never. Jason ran towards me.

"What should we do? They have goals twice," he asked as he wiped the sweat from his forehead with his thumb.

"We only need to focus on your friend, as Kevin is of no use. Keep an eye on him, and I will handle the rest," I exclaimed as I trained my eyes behind him where Alisha was trying to wipe his sweat, and it angered me more than the two goals he did.

"Ok, I will follow him closely," he said as he nodded his head in understanding.

"Drinks break," I heard Aunty announcing as I and Jason were discussing the strategy.

"Let's discuss rest after the break," I said, as my throat was as dry as a desert. He nodded and followed me.

"Thank you. I'm so thirsty," I said to Aunty as I took a glass of cold water from her.

"Welcome; I have even brought the snacks; enjoy them," she said in her pleased voice as she walked back into the house.

"You are tired from scoring one goal," Kevin mocked as he flashed a smirk at me.

"At last, I goal once, not just kept running behind the people," I mocked back as I rolled my eyes at him, making Jason laugh at my comeback.

"Yeah, whatever, we are winning," he said with the same smirk on his face.

"The game has still not ended," I said with a tight smile as I put the remaining cold water in the glass on my face and walked away from there. I went and lay down on the grass to relax a bit until the break was over. I was looking at the sky when I felt someone lying down beside me, and it was none other than my annoying best friend.

"So your possessive boyfriend started to make claims even before your eighteenth birthday. He made you wear his t-shirt," Kevin said in a teasing voice as he kept lying beside me, looking at the blue sky.

"He is not my boyfriend; he never was," I said in my stern voice. My words made him look at me with furrowed eyes.

"Why suddenly change of heart?" he asked in his uncertain voice.

"First, because your brother doesn't remember his promise, and second, because he already has a girlfriend," I replied in my stern voice as I kept looking at the sky.

"Girlfriend, who?" he asked with confused eyes. This time I averted my eyes to the blue sky and looked at him.

"Alisha," I said with a bitter smile on my face. He became quiet as he moved his eyes from my face to his brother and his girlfriend, who were standing with Jason munching on a sandwich that Alisha was feeding him. The burn I felt in my chest never diminished for a second.

"Time to start the game again," I announced in my confident voice as I stood up and removed his t-shirt. He made me wear it forcefully and threw it on the ground. Kevin smirked, looking at me. His eyes immediately saw my action as they zeroed in on me with a clenched jaw.

"Let the game begin."
