CHAPTER 3 Fatal Attraction
Daemon's POV
Standing in front of the wall mirror in my bedroom, I stared at my appearance, admiring my features.
My beta Sam came in with black clothes wrapped with white nylon.
"Here for the occasion," he said. But merely looking at the suit, I scoffed and dismissed him with a slight wave of my hand.
I am Daemon Thorn, the Alpha of the Thorn pack, and the Lycan King of the werewolf realm.
Today was the coronation ceremony of one of the strongest packs in this realm, and their Alpha Kian had invited me over to grace his ceremony and discuss business issues.
I was known as a merciless, ruthless, manipulative, vicious, and cold-hearted creature, feared among the whole werewolf realm, but I cared less about that.
Only my beta, more like a brother to me, Sam, knew truly who I am underneath the personality that I portrayed outside.
I can detect the smile that will be looming around Alpha Kian's lips when I will enter his ceremony, another reason for him to brag about my presence at his coronation with his Luna.
"You know that suit is more appropriate for occasions like this," Sam said, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Is not like I care," I mumbled, when staring at my reflection in the mirror, the plain white t-shirt and navy faded plain jeans that I was putting on.
I am one soul that loves comfy clothes despite my position and status. I do live a carefree lifestyle.
Tying my shoelace and getting ready, I entered my Bugatti La Voiture Noire and Sam drove off to the Blackwood pack.
Once we reached the Blackwood pack, the gate was wide open as soon as the security guards saw our car.
As we entered the hall, the room went quiet, with everyone's gaze fixed on me. I could feel heated and lustful stares from the crowd, but I brushed them off and sat in the vacant chair provided for me, with Sam sitting behind me.
Lifting my gaze, I saw a feminine figure standing on the stage beside Kian, catching my attention.
My eyes narrowed as I took in her appearance, admiring her beauty. Her amazonian figure was set well on her slender body, and the gown she was wearing flowed down to her legs, giving her a perfect look. Her face was tapered, and she had a burnished complexion.
Her crescent-shaped eyebrows eased gently down her long black eyelashes. A sculptor couldn't have fashioned her seraph's ears and pixie's nose any better.
I smirked as she broke into a laugh, her beguiling oyster-white teeth lit up my face.
She looks perfect with her deep blue ocean eyes.
Everything was going well until moaning and groaning suddenly filled the air.
My eyebrow twitched slightly pulling my gaze away from her and to the projector hanging on the wall.
As I pulled my gaze away from the woman and towards the projector hanging on the wall, my eyebrows twitched again. The video playing showed a woman whose face was hidden and a man who I recognized as Kian, the new Alpha. From the looks of it, the woman standing beside him, who was his Luna and wife, was not the one in the video.
My fists clenched in anger as I saw the hurt in her eyes, while her so-called husband stood there as if nothing had happened.
Some men we do have!
His nonchalant attitude annoyed me. Can't he see that she was hurting? Did he even love her at all?
"What a dickhead," I heard Sam grumble behind me, so I wasn't the only one annoyed with his attitude.
I planned on walking out of the ceremony. I couldn't bear to see the pain and humiliation that the woman must be going through. I tried to stand up, and that's when her scent hit me.
"Silence!" The elder's voice cut through the noise and brought silence to the room.
I slowly found myself sitting my ass back on the chair with my gaze fixed on her, her scent and appearance driving me insane.
I found myself sitting back down, my gaze fixed on her. Her scent and appearance were driving me insane. Ethan, my wolf, was about to lose it, and all my attention was focused on her. I didn't hear a single word said by the elder or anyone else. I saw her smile when saying something, but I didn't care to listen.
She was driving me and my wolf crazy with desire, and I wanted to stand up and claim her right then and there.
The coronation ceremony ended soon after, but before I could stand from my chair, I noticed her sneaking out of the place. I knew I had to go after her, but then Kian appeared in front of me.
"Hey," I slowly called Sam with a muffled and quick tone.
"Attend to him, I will be back,"
"Where are you going?" He asked, sensing my uneasiness.
"There is something that I need to attend to,"
"But…"
"Don't stress yourself; you don't need to be there." I gave his shoulder a quick pat and walked out of the room before Kian could see me.
As soon as I stepped outside, I scanned the area for her. "Where could she possibly have gone?" I wondered.
Taking a few strides forward, I saw two women engaged in a heated argument. As I walked closer, hidden behind the trees, I saw her face.
She was the woman I had been looking for. But before I could do anything, I saw the other woman push her into the fountain, and both of them fell into the water.
I watched as she struggled to swim away from the woman who kept pulling her back with her fake cries filling the air. That's why I never hesitate to deal with women like her by slashing their throats.
I wanted to step forward and save her, but then a muscular figure emerged out of nowhere and rushed toward them.
"Kian…" I muttered, thinking he would save his wife and scold the other woman, but the opposite happened. He jumped into the water and only pulled the other woman out while shouting at his wife.
My anger burned at the scene in front of me. How could he? That woman hiding behind him was the one to blame, but it seemed like something was going on between them.
The Luna's desperate plea hurt me. I wanted to thrash myself out from the tree and give him a piece of my mind, but before I knew it, he turned around and left with the woman, leaving the other one at the fountain.
I watched her swim out from the fountain with tears brimming in her eyes. Standing there wasn't helping at all, especially when her silent sobs kept piercing my ears.
I stepped out from my hiding spot, and for the first time in my life, I felt nervous. What was this woman doing to me?
Standing almost too close to her, unsure of what to do, I offered her a handkerchief to wipe away her tears. She grabbed it from me, and as I tried to step closer, I instantly stopped in my tracks, feeling a burning attraction toward her.
After a while, I couldn't hear her silent sobs anymore, and I knew she was looking at me because I could feel her eyes piercing through the back of my head.
Gulping hard, I nervously swallowed the lump in my throat and started walking away, leaving the handkerchief behind.
