Where are you mama?
Laura Zu held her baby close to her chest. Such a beautiful little girl. She looked red , with a tiny sweet lips. She kissed the baby for the upteenth time and laid her on the baby cot before going into the restroom.
Few minutes later when she returned, with the excitement of being called a mother, she glanced at her baby and immediately felt something was weird. The baby was sucking its thumb and her eyes were staring at her.
She went to the baby and felt something was not right! This child doesn't look like her baby!! Had she been swapped? She stared intently at the innocent eyes of the baby and concluded this was not the child she birth. Still dressed in her cloths but definitely not her child.
She walked into the next ward and saw a young lady holding her baby and breastfeeding her baby. She felt like going closer to see the baby but shook the thoughts off. A woman can't possibly be comfortable breastfeeding a baby she swapped.
Laura Zu seemed confused and finally concluded that her imagination was picking at her. Though she thought she saw her baby having a salmon patches birthmark in her from her ears to to her cheeks. But perhaps it's just her imagination.
Sara Yu sighed quietly when she saw the woman went away without saying a word to her. She had been nervous and afraid that the woman was going to suspect her of swapping her baby.
She’s been watching her from her split vision. But thank goodness her daughter will have a new identity and be raised in a home where she can never be traced by her father.
....10 years later…
Lola a grey eyed little girl stood before the graveyard. Her mother was dead and had just been buried. Where’s going to be her home next?
Her mother was the only family she’s got and now, she’s no more. Young Lola cried out her despair.
Her mother had died of cancer of the lungs. At least that’s what the doctor said her mother was suffering from. She had watched her mother wreaths in pain and saw the doctors and nurses administer drugs and injections to her.
And yet, she still died. The doctor said her mother was not coming back to live with her anymore. How is she going to survive alone?
Who’s going to prepare her for school or arrange her lunch pack? Who will buy her new dresses and ever going to buy her special presents on Christmas morning?
The funeral soon ended and Lola was taken away by the kamson’s. She wanted to wait and see what’s going to happen to her mother's remains but she was made to entered the kamson’s car and was driven home.
She stepped into the house in her beautiful black suit and felt the memory of her mother everywhere in the house. Her presence lingered in her heart.
The smell of her mother was in the house. The apartment is a one bedroom house with a narrow passage. Lola went into the bedroom as if she was going to see her mother lying on the bed as always. Sara Yu spent most of her time on that bed few days before she disappeared.
But the bed was empty and the sofa had not her mother. She went into the tiny kitchen and everything was in its place but she didn’t found her mother still.
She proceeded into the bathroom, saw her mum’s toiletries, her toothbrush and things her mother usually used but her mother was nowhere to be find.
Lola went into the sitting room and tears run down her cheeks. Her mother had truly left her. She’s gone without considering how lowly she was going to be without her?
“Mama!!” Lola called out. Perhaps her mother was somewhere near playing hide and seek game with her like she often do before. But she received no response. Rather her voice echoed in the small apartment.
“Where are you mama? Come back to me! I need you mama” Lola screamed and started sobbing. Where is her mama? Who’s going to bring her mama back to her?
Little Lola was sobbing and hiccupping. She sank into the sofa and soon drifted off in sleep.
She felt someone lifted her off the sofa and felt happy in her sleep. Her mama has come to carry her into the bedroom. She’s always carried her into the bedroom anytime she slept off on the sofa.
