She Was Always Sick Since She Was Young

Meanwhile...

In the hospital, Michelle was reading a designer book when her phone rang. It was her aunt Tricia.

"Hello!" Michelle politely answered the call.

"Michelle! Thank goodness! Where are you now? Why didn't you send me a message that you will not come to work today? I'm worried about you!" Tricia scolded her niece.

Since she woke up from the hospital, she didn't notify her aunt about her leave. Doctor Watsons told her to stay at the hospital for a couple of days.

"I'm sorry, aunt. I completely forgot. I'm at the hospital now. I have a fever!" she didn't tell her the main reason why she was at the hospital.

Although she indeed had a fever, she got this from being kidnapped last night. As much as possible, she didn't want her family to worry about her.

"What?! tell me which hospital and I will come now!" her aunt was panicking.

That was her only niece. Since she was a child she was a bit weak. There were no years that she was not brought to the hospital once a year. That was why when she had decided to stay in London to pursue her dream to be a famous fashion designer, her parents were reluctant. Mathew, Michelle's father, and Tricia's older brother made sure that his sister would take good care of her daughter. And that she would keep him posted of her condition.

"I'm at Sacred Heart General Hospital," she answered gently.

Michelle liked her aunt Tricia a lot. Because of her aunt's looks and character, everyone thought they were siblings. She was a very beautiful and independent woman. She had been single for a long time and the reason, she was brokenhearted once. Her first and probably only love left her to study abroad. While the guy was in another country, a lot of women came as his fling. When her aunt Tricia found out, she was furious and immediately broke up with him without listening to his explanation.

"Sacred Heart? Got it. Wait for me!" she hung up at once.

Michelle put her phone on the small table beside her bed. She looked at the surroundings again. This morning, she wasn't able to observe properly because of Glen. Early that day, upon seeing her awake, he immediately interrogated her about her kidnapping incident last night.

Her eyebrows furrowed with annoyance when she remembered that heartless arrogant man. She got down from her bed. Since she didn't have any IV drips anymore, she could freely move to the hospital.

When she was near the door, Glen, who had just arrived, pushed it from outside. Because it was sudden, the back wall of the door was slammed right onto Michelle's face. "Ouch!" she screamed while covering her face with her small palm.

When he saw this, he was stunned. But he sneered upon looking at her expression. She was forced to walk three steps backward and her head was roughly tilted up.

“Idiot!” he whispered mockingly enough for Michelle to hear it.

“What did you say?!” she asked with anger.

She was still covering her face when she felt a liquid coming out of her nostril. When she looked at her palm, she saw fresh blood.

Glen shook his head. He put his suitcase on the sofa, hung his black suit on the rack, loosen his tie, and rolled up his sleeves. He took a tissue from the table and went towards her.

“How come you are so weak?” he complained while looking at her nostril that was flowing with blood. "It’s just a small impact and you got nosebleed?!”

Michelle was annoyed with his ranting. She narrowed her eyes and brushed his right hand off that was holding her chin.“If you feel disgusted, then don’t touch it!”

“Did I say I’m disgusted? Listen carefully to my words!” Glen looked at her sternly.

“Hmmph! What’s the difference anyway? You complained about my nosebleed so stop pretending you care, okay?!” Michelle ranted.

Glen just stared at her. “Miss Hansen, were you weak even before you were a kid?” He could notice that she was not a healthy person.

“I say I was not. But they always brought me to the hospital once a year because of high fever!” she explained. She sat down on the sofa and looked up at him. “Mister, we’ve been talking since last night but I don’t know your name, yet”. She suddenly uttered.

This man saved her. She even brought her to the hospital and paid all of her expenses including this luxurious VIP room.

Glen who was standing in front of her with both hands inside his pockets gave her a serious look before answering.

“I’m Thomas!”

“Thomas? Do you have a family name like Park, Kim, or Lee?” Michelle was guessing.

Glen raised his eyebrow. He noticed Michelle asked him for some Asian surnames. “Do I look like not an English?”

“Hmm! I guess you were born and raised here but you still look like an Asian to me. Probably, Chinese or Korean?” she shrugged her shoulders.

Glen who had been standing for a while went to the sofa, removed his Italian leather shoes, and lay down. He closed his eyes and placed his right hand on his forehead and his left hand on his stomach. His feet were crossed together. He ignored her words. With his height, 190cm tall, he almost occupied the five-seater leather sofa. His feet were slightly touching her legs.

Michelle was mortified. Her eyes went wide and her mouth formed an ‘O’ shape. “Hey! What do you think you're doing?"

Glen just looked at her at his feet while lying down then he put his right hand back to his forehead.

"Hey! You are already touching me! This is harassment!" she exclaimed.

With her accusation, his sleepy eyes narrowed. He suddenly stood up in front of her while looking down.

Michelle got irritated with his nonchalant attitude. She also stood in front of him and put her hands on her waist. She held her chin up and her chest out.

"Are you trying to take advantage of me Mr. Thomas?" she was provoking him.

"Young!" Glen exclaimed.

"I already told you, I'm not young! I'm already twenty-three! What is your problem?" she was already furious.

Glen couldn't care less what she understood when he said, Young! He was just trying to tell her his surname but she thought he was calling her young. He would like to catch his sleep for he had not been sleeping well these past few days. That was why he tried to snooze on the sofa.

Before Michelle could react more, he carried her and threw her on the bed like a sack of potatoes. Although the bed was not a usual hospital bed but was comfortable and big, she still irked in pain when her waist hit the edge.

"Mr. Thomas can't you see, I'm a patient here. Can you at least be merciful?" Michelle grumbled. She was holding her waist while sitting at the edge of the bed.

"Merciful is not on my vocabulary!" he smirked.

They were quarreling when Tricia arrived. "Michelle!" she exclaimed.

Tricia brushed Glen's shoulder off. "Why are you yelling at my niece?"

Glen got even more furious when Tricia rebuffed. He looked at the shoulder she touched and wiped it with his hand like disgusting dirt just fell on it.

"You! How dare you?" Tricia was insulted.

She glared at him. Then she shifted her stare at Michelle who was just happily watching at the sideline.

"Michelle! Don't tell me this is your boyfriend. I will never allow it! I will tie you and put you in a cage if you keep seeing him!" Tricia remarked with disdain. She even made across a sign in front of her chest.

"Aunt, he is a nobody! So please don't waste your time on him!" Michelle rejoined her force to annoy Glen who at that moment was just sneering and grinning at them. "Dumb and Dumber!" he thought. "A female version!" he added.

"Old lady! I am not interested in your niece. She is not even this slight of beauty compared to the women I date!" Glen shot back while putting his right thumb and index finger together making a tiny hand gesture.

Tricia's chest was now going up and down. "OLD LADY?!"

"Listen! I don't have time for this! Glen ignored the two women panting in anger. He took his suit and his suitcase and left the room. He slammed the door which made the two startled.

"Who the heck is he?" Tricia asked her niece with confusion.

"His name is Mr. Thomas and he----" she almost blurted out about her kidnapping incident last night. "I met him at the hotel last night----"

"Hotel last night?!" Tricia was shocked by her confession.

"No! Aunt that's not what I meant. Listen to me!" she was now panicking.

She knew her aunt well. What she heard was what she heard. She didn't care if it was true or not.

"Your father trusted me to take care of you ---!" she twisted Michelle's ear. She frowned in pain.

"Aunt! Let go of my ear and I will explain everything. I'm a patient here. Have mercy on me!"

"Mercy is not on my vocabulary!" Tricia sternly retorted.

Michelle's eyes went wide with disbelief. Just today, two people told her that MERCY was not on their vocabulary. What's going on with the world?
