His senses hit him like a storm. Almost immediately, he could feel his eyes dilating as he stared up at his little mate. She had that curious look upon her face as she wandered her eyes all over his features, observing him.

She must be wondering who he was. But he could certainly feel she found him attractive, because her scent became sweeter. She looked so beautiful and innocent. For a long time, he had searched for her, almost giving up. He thought the Moon Goddess had punished him by not giving him a mate. He wasn't a perfect Alpha, he did what he thought was best for his pack. But looking at the girl now, it made him want to take her away with him, away from here. Stealing her away would be the easy part. But would that make her love him? Would that make her accept who he was?

A beast.

Alpha Jaxon just couldn't think of anything else while his wolf going out of control inside him. And yet, he tried his best to remain calm. Emotionless. Because he was an Alpha, and showing any emotion in front of everyone would show his weakness. He had a reputation to keep and he had the best intentions to keep it that way.

It seemed the girl was deep in thought until she finally decided to walk down the steps of the staircase. She had a tray on her hands and a few cups. Was she planning to serve them? Alpha Jaxon could've found it funny but he couldn't take his eyes off her, and he could see just how much this was making her uncomfortable.

When she reached the bottom of the staircase, she moved to place the tray on the small glass table in front of him. "Would you like some tea, sir?" she asked politely with a sweet voice.

A human, he realized, and an innocent one at that. He knew this because of the way her purely sweet scent smelled and by the way she greeted him sir. Any wolf would know it was a grievous offense to not respect an Alpha. Not calling him by his title was already great offense and it could even result to death. But this woman, she was innocent from the ways of his world.

"Isabelle," the old man called, his voice quivering, as if warning her from the dangers he could bring.

She stood up straight and turned to look at him with a frown. "Yes, Papa?"

"I'd like some tea, Isabelle," Alpha Jaxon spoke up, bringing her attention back to him. He sat down on the sofa behind him and sat back comfortably in his seat.

The girl seemed surprised, and her cheeks turned prettily red. Nevertheless, she proceeded to pour him tea. Then she gracefully offered him the cup. His wolf purred at the sight of her serving him. Standing up straight, she gave him a sweet smile, and it almost softened his cold heart.

Almost.

"Thank you," he said, truly grateful for the tea and she smiled politely. The girl seemed to be aware of the situation, that her father owed him a huge amount of money and why he had come here. He hoped she knew as well, he always got what he wanted, no matter what the price was.

"My pleasure." She bowed down in front him then stood up straight, looking at him with a determined look. The innocent woman from a few minutes ago suddenly looked fierce and brave. "Sir, I hope you can give my father another chance to pay for our debt. We're doing the best we can to earn money and we still need more time. I hope you'll understand."

Alpha Jaxon's face remained neutral. "I do understand.. that I need to end the agreement now before it gets worse. Your father took advantage of my generosity and I won't tolerate it anymore. Besides, a young woman like you shouldn't be working to pay for your father's debt."

"I'm his daughter and I'm willing to take the responsibility. It would mean a lot if you could give us another chance."

"I don't give second chances."

Her cheeks turned pink and he could sense she was getting angry. "Are you this cruel?" she questioned, raising her voice.

She kept surprising him. Was this woman truly the daughter of the old man? She was different from her father. Fierce and strong, perfect for an Alpha. "I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that proposal, Ms. Jones," Alpha Jaxon stated. "I still want what I came for."

Her hopeful eyes looked hopeless now, as if she had given up. "We don't have the money," she protested.

He shook his head. "That's not what I want anymore. At first, I wanted your father's death, but now I see.. there's no point in killing a man who can't even fight for himself when his daughter needs him the most. Your father doesn't deserve you."

She stared at him, speechless, his words sinking in to her precious mind. Then Alpha Jaxon turned to look at her weak old father, directing a glare towards him. "Keep your end of the bargain, Mr. Jones. Your time's up and I want something else in return."

The old man began to look even more nervous. "I don't have much, Alpha Jaxon. I have nothing—"

Alpha Jaxon slammed his fist on the small glass table in front of him. The glass shattered and broke into pieces, the loud sound erupting to the whole room. His sight had darkened and he watched as the girl jumped in fear and the old man flinched back in horror.

"I want her."
