4 Years Later.

Letting You Go.

Chapter Two.

“You should really consider it, Amber,” Josh said as he looked at me in concern. I sighed. What Josh had just told me seemed to make sense. I would be saving myself from a lot of heartbreak if I agreed. I held Xavier closer to me. Xavier, my little baby. He looked so much like Chris. He had the same striking blue eyes and that infectious smile. Chris still didn’t know about Xavier. A part of me wondered what he would if he knew. Would he still leave? I shook myself off all these thoughts as Josh’s voice brought me back to reality.

“It’s better this way Amber. How long are you going to wait for him to come back? It’s been a bloody years and he still hasn’t looked back,” the anger was obvious in his voice. Josh despised Chris. I knew for a fact that if Josh ever came across Chris in person he would beat him up. After what happened with Chris Josh became even more protective of me. But I was glad for someone like him in my life. He supported me with my decision. I had asked everyone not to tell Chris about Xavier. I didn’t want Chris to come back to me just because he felt that it was his duty. I could do a good job raising my son alone.

Josh was asking me to move to London with him. Josh had started up a new recording studio in London ad he was going to move there to oversee things. Josh was a bigwig in the recording business. After setting up his roots here he was ready to expand.

Josh’s offer didn’t seem unreasonable to me. I wanted to leave this place. The only thing I didn’t want to leave was my small little café. I had started up a café as soon as Chris and I got married. It was always my dream to open up a café. And working with Chris after we were married seemed ….funny to me. I did not want to have any arguments about work at home so this was the best option.

“What about the café?” I asked.

“You can trust Harold, you know.” Josh stated and I knew it was true. I could trust Harold. He had managing the café singlehandedly for the past few months. The café wasn’t some just place he worked at. It was like his personal venture.

“Do you think he’ll buy it?”

“He loves the place as much as you do. Of course he’ll buy it.” Josh sounded ecstatic. He was more than happy that I was going to London with him.

“I’ll talk to him,” I replied. “Can you please take care of the rest for me?”

Josh’s smile faded. I knew why he was unhappy now. I was pushing him into the doors of hell by telling him to tell the family that I was moving to London with him. The rest of the family being his parents, my grandmother, Jen and Brock and Katie. I gave him a pleading look and he sighed.

I got up and hugged him. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!” I exclaimed and he laughed.

“I swear to God if I get a black eye or some broken bones the offer is off the table.” He muttered as he walked away. I grinned. Xavier started crying and I sighed. This boy never stopped crying!

I picked him up in my hands and he instantly stopped crying. I rocked him back and forth for some time and gently put him down as he slept. Once again I was struck by how much he looked like Chris. I felt tears form in my eyes as I remembered how good Chris was with Alex.

‘Come on Alex,’ I sighed for the hundredth time. She shook her head. Where the hell are you Chris Meyers? I sighed again taking a few breaths to control myself. These were the times I wished Chris didn’t have to go away for business trips.

‘You know that Daddy will be mad if you don’t eat,’ I stated trying a new technique.

‘Really?’ she asked dejectedly.

‘Yes. Then he might just cancel the trip to Disneyland,’ I heard Chris’ voices and I turned around to face him with a grateful smile.

‘Daddy!’ Alex exclaimed getting off the chair and running to him. I smiled at Chris.

Welcome home, I mouthed and he grinned. He took Alex in his arms and sat her on the table.

‘Why aren’t you eating?’ he asked in a strict voice. I got up and walked out of the kitchen ignoring Alex’s pleading looks. I knew better than to get in-between a father and his daughter. I walked to our room and started unpacking Chris’ stuff. It wasn’t long after that I felt arms go around my waist. I leaned back and asked, ‘Did she eat?’

‘Yeah. A simple threat and she was eating like it was her last meal.’

I chuckled and turned around. ‘I missed you.’

‘I missed you too princess.’ I smiled at the name he had given me. I slipped my arms around his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. He responded immediately and I felt myself losing control over myself.

‘Mommy!!’ a sudden shout brought us apart and I sighed. Chris frowned as I untangled my hands and went into Alex’s room.

‘yes, sweetheart?’ I asked and she turned around and grinned.

‘We are going to Disneyland!!!’ she exclaimed coming and hugging me.

‘Really now?’ I asked and she nodded. Chris was standing at the door grinning. ‘Do you know if Daddy’s lying or not?’ I asked. She didn’t reply. I guess she was just happy to have got that assurance.
