Chapter 3

Dani -

I rolled off of her trying to prevent her from feeling trapped under me.

‘Ok. It's ok.....’

I tried to think, grabbing her dress.

She was trying to put it on.

‘Why don't you two just....’

Brunette: ‘Can you just, not. I'm sure you're great and all, but we need to get out of your hair.’

She was already in her dress and out of bed.

Khloe: ‘I'm sorry. I have to go.’

‘But, you didn't even give me your number. Are you really going to make me wait until...’

Her friend tried to speak but she cut her off.

Khloe: ‘I really am sorry. It's best this way, but thank you, I mean it.’

I wanted to run after them, but she didn't even seem like she wanted me to have her number.

I didn't sleep with her knowing I could.

I was having more fun making animal crackers fight on our bare chests.

Rocking her gently once I got her to lay down.

Squeezing, gently scratching, and doing everything I could think of to comfort her when she would mumble or grunt.

Sharing something like that with someone is worth more than sex in my opinion.

I get she didn't plan on waking up in my bed, but I thought we clicked well enough to score me a number.

A fake one even.

I don't usually get hung up on people, but damn.

I got up and tossed on an oversized jersey then discovered the house was a wreck.

Plastic cups and beer bottles were everywhere and a few girls were in the kitchen.

‘Morning ladies. I trust you all slept well.’

They groaned at my perky tone.

Marisala: ‘That little blonde that ran out of here not long ago, come from your room?’

‘Yeah. Hated to see her go.’

Marisala: ‘But didn't mind watching her leave?’

We both giggled.

‘Want to grab lunch while these girls clean up their mess?’

Seniority had its perks around the house.

Marisala: ‘Yeah. May as well, smells like puke around here. I guess we could bring back pizza. If they're finished cleaning, they can eat it. If not, you and I have one hell of a lazy Saturday.’

‘If it's not clean tonight I know a bunch of sad sisters who will be here while everyone is at the party down the road.’

We went to our rooms to change and walked to a cafe on campus.

She noticed something was up, and eventually I spilled.

‘I don't get it Mar. I thought we hit it off. I could have just fucked her, but instead I gave her cookies and cuddles. She seemed like the kind of girl who would appreciate that. She seemed like she did. I know I just met her, but, she was, she was fucking perfect.’

Marisala: ‘Haven't heard you use the p word in years. Since, her. Dani, are you sure you should let yourself get mixed up with someone who gets to you like this? I mean, it was one night, and you didn't even get a number. Not to be a buzz kill, but you had to finish freshman year over the summer.’

‘You're being a good friend and I love you for that, but that kind of energy, you don't find it just anywhere.’

Marisala: ‘That whole Mommy thing? That energy?’

‘Yeah. The Mommy thing.’
