CHAPTER

She and Secretary Paul entered the door of Navy Restaurant. Her uncle had summoned her regarding business matter. She steered clear of her family members for a very specific reason, unless important she doesn't visit them.

The Navy Restaurant offers its customer with private rooms, no central dining area was available, a perfect place to have a gathering with your friends and family without being disturbed. A warm glow enlightened the entrance area, a comfortable cosy environment surrounding the restaurant. The manager approached them and greeted them with a smile.

"Welcome to Navy Restaurant. Do you have a reservation?"

She looked at the uniformed woman, her uniform fitted her perfectly on places, her hair tied in a low ponytail, her makeup was applied on point.

"Willy.", she thought her uncle might had already informed the manager of her name.

"Alright, ma'am. Please follow me."

The manager gestured them, they follow behind her. They passes a couple of rooms walking down the corridor. A figure lingered infront of a room, her hand on the door handle as she was taking deep breathe before entering the room as they reached.

She looked the back of the figure as the door closes behind, flashing a mischievous smile.

"Ma'am, is there any problem?"

The manager asked when she and Secretary Paul stopped walking. She moves towards the door and pushed it open. The manager's eyes widened when she realised that the lady just went inside the room uninvited, important people were present in there tonight.

"Ma'am, you can't barge in like that."

Secretary Paul motioned the manager to lay off, he stood on the threshold of the door watching his Young Miss.

Her gaze swept over the occupants until it rest on the person she was searching for. She had seen the photographs but never met in real life. She slowly made her way to the said person.

The people present in the room looked at the intruder who happened to enter uninvited. A black straw hat on her head, dark sunglass hiding her eyes, black satin gloves, an oversized cardigan with a basic white tee and a blue denim, she doesn't look like she belonged anywhere here.

She could feel the judgemental eyes following her movements, she was used to that kind of looks, being brought in such society where people look down on other if you are different from them. She stood behind the person, who was seated on the last seat and swiftly turned the chair. The person shrieked in surprised, and looked at her wide eyed, her breathing little shallow from the shock.

"Evangeline Glen?"

"Yes?", Evangeline said a little perturbed.

"My, my. It is her.", she gave a knowing nod to Secretary Paul. Then loomed above Evangeline and squinted her eyes. Evangeline leaned back in her seat, intimidated by the presence of this woman, she was a timid person, these rich people were already intimidating her, now this unknown woman came out of nowhere and was staring at her, she didn't knew whether tge woman was glaring because her eyes were covered but she got a very bad feeling.

She pinched Evangeline's chin softly, tsking she moved her face both side.

"What is so special about you? How come it's you?", she sneered at her.

"Excuse me but who are you?", a woman in her thirties asked softly.

She released Evangeline's chin and looked at the woman, but her attention was drawn to the right index finger of another woman who was seated near. A simple designed platinum ring with three small flowers with one rose cut red diamond and two white rose cut diamonds sat on the center of the flowers.

She narrowed her eyes at the woman, flipping her hair, she faked a smile, "Hello there. I must say the ring do sure glows by the beauty of its owner."

The woman scoffed, and mockingly smiled at her, "Thank you?"

"If you don't mind, can I asked if it is a red diamond?"

The woman gave her an uninterest look, "Yes, it is.", while admiring the ring on her finger.

'Stupid.'

She thought but didn't voiced out, the woman would suffer from her hands, she touched so.ething she shouldn't had.

"Willy.", a familiar voice called out.

She turned and looked at the older man, who was giving her a knowing look and a warning glinted in his eyes. He strode inside and nodded the person at the head of the table and the person at the right side of the table.

"Master Hansen, Master Jade.", he acknowledged.

"Master Elliot."

The occupants of the table rose and smiled at him.

"I apologized if she caused you any trouble. She is quite the troublemaker.", her uncle said, giving her a side eye.

She rolled her eyes and looked over the table filled with different kinds of food. The aroma of the food was stimulating her hunger. She picked up the fork of Evangelina and stabbing a piece of meat from one of the dishes she lifted the fork and ate it. The flavour bursted in her mouth and she went for another bite. Her uncle narrowed his eyes, his lips pressed in a firm line.

"Willy.", he warned her.

"What? It's tasty.", she replied to her uncle and then turned to Secretary Paul, "Do you know what it is?"

"I don't know, Young Miss.", Secretary Paul honestly replied.

"Then find out, I'm gonna eat it today.", she waved the fork at him.

Secretary Paul nodded and turned to the Manager to enquire about it. Her uncle blinked at her with an impassive face.

"Master Elliot, why don't you join us for dinner?", a woman sitting beside Master Jade offered.

"Thank you but we have a business to take care of, Lady Jade. Maybe some other day.", Her uncle politely replied, "Willy, let's go."

She nodded and followed her uncle, when she caught up to him she leaned and whispered, "Uncle James, what do you think of your daughter-in law?"

He looked at her in confusion, she just smiled at him and said, "The one in the mustard dress, black long hair, I was standing near to."

He turned back and looked at Evangeline, when they exited the room, he looked at her, and asked, "Willy, who is she?"

"Evangeline Glen. Your future daughter-in-law."

"What?"

"Jacob's girlfriend."

Uncle James was silent the whole way, when they enter their reserved room and sat on their respective seat, he spoke up coldly, "So Jacob found himself a girlfriend."

"Yes.", she replied ignoring the cold look he had on his face.

"When was the last time he visited home?"

She quietly kept the fork she brought from the other room, putting it lightly on the table, she replied cautiously, "Maybe a year."

"Uncle James, it's been a really long time, forgive and forget. He is your son."

"Let's not talk about him.", Uncles James said firmly, "Dad told me about the way you handle Mr. Gale."

"Ah. Mr. Gale?", she innocently smiled at him.

"Willy. You didn't need to beat him that bad."

"Well, he attacked me first.", she said scrunching her nose. She took off her sunglass and her hat.

"I agree. But you should meet up with dad, he was going ballistic when you hung up the call."

She took off her gloves and put it on the nearby chair and smiled at him, "I wanted to make him mad and I did."

"He is old now, don't give him a heart attack."

"Never will. Just a rise in blood pressure.", she winked.

The waiters started bringing their food. Different dishes were presented infront of them, the room was filled with the rich aroma of the food.

"What did you wanted to talk about the business?", she asked.

"Nothing.", her uncle shrugged his shoulders.

She looked at her uncle, not surprised, her family members always did this, making business an excuse to summon her. She didn't bothered agruing with Uncle James because she was hungry, and focus on the food in front of her.

They silently ate their food, relishing the divine food which blesses their tastebuds. Uncle James make small talks with Secretary Paul. She noticed that after three years of Secretary Paul being her secretary, her family had warmed up to him.
