CHAPTER 7: The Crazy Sister
Evette shot daggers at her sister who replied with a “Whaaat?” dragging the word while throwing her arms in the air. “Just spit it out big sis, did he have to take you for the whole day plus half a night? Who is he?” querried Leah throwing her hands up with a silly smirk. Eve rolled her eyes and shook her head ready to go to the bathroom to escape from this lunatic of a sister.
Leah pressed her down and said “pretty please, I’m dying to know, maybe who knows this could be my brother in law soon? You know how we need a male for security around here right? Do you love him? Of course you do, how can you spend the whole day plus a night with a stranger 'mr acquaintance' out of the blues?” Leah went on and on trailing off while chuckling.
Evette held her throbbing temples, narrowed her eyes and angrily looked at Leah saying “Li, out of my room right now. I need to get to work now and you are just giving me a migraine” barked Eve. Leah stomped her feet on the floor and cussed. “Geez, what should one do around here to get info? Sister you are not being fair and for the record, you are not my cool sister anymore. The title is temporarily revoked now. You are keeping the gist to yourself. I’ll do the same to you next time” huffed a disappointed Leah as she shuffled her feet towards the door. Eve giggle and hissed “you look ridiculous and very much crazy. You need to get rid of your lame fantasies. I got a job Ms, a job, ever heard of it? It’s spelled JOB and that’s where I was the whole time. You are childish”
“Really sis? Just work and no fun? Ooh what a waste” sighed a disappointed Leah standing by the door looking at Eve and throwing her hands in the air. “I’ll have you know that some of us work very hard once we find a job. My profession requires too much time and excellence so once I start, I give it my all. Get used to not seeing me at home more often kiddo and get out all those silly ideas about certain “mr acquaintance” you got your mind filled up with” said Eve as she strolled towards the bathroom door. Leah sighed and left her sister’s room disappointed.
An hour later Eve was back in her office and she continued from where she stopped with the project files. She arranged to meet with the heads of small departments once again to organize a meeting on the presentation of ideas. Later on she would be interviewing a secretary she had requested for. She wanted to be the one to pick out her own personal secretary without too much male influence.
She carried on with her duties and decided to finish up her own report on the project and made up her own objectives about the project. That’s the business behavior that has always separated her from the rest. Making definitive goals and making sure she reaches them regardless of the huddles. That’s what defines a business leader. ‘You should always have goals out of your goals and come up with initiatives and milestones to reach your intended and ultimate goal.
Evette is one woman who has never had a best friend, she doesn’t believe in distractions but preaches focus. Eyes on the ball. Perhaps that’s why her first and the only boyfriend she had in Edmonton dumped her, because he felt like a distraction to her.
The time for interviewing the secretary approached faster than expected, she still had a handful of work but she needed to do it anyway. She did not anticipate the drama that would unfold at this interview.
She got out of the elevator to approach the conference room where she would be conducting the interview only to see a familiar figure hiding behind a file! She stopped, tried to figure out if it’s really her but she hid herself very well. Eve ignored her and thought maybe it’s someone else. Anyway, if it’s her, she will see her inside. The person hiding did not know that the secretary job was for Evette’s secretary and that Evette would be conducting the interview herself.
There were about ten people who came for the interview since it was short notice. Some were already working in the company. This stranger who hid from Eve earlier on, finally entered and was wide eyed seeing her very own crazy Leah Scott. “What the…” Eve barely mouthed out the words when Leah pulled a chair to sit down unfazed. Her file was empty only indicating her studies at the University outlined in her résumé. Though she was studying Human resources management, she wasn’t anywhere near qualified. Besides, she was still a second year student.
Evette sighed and said “Leah Betty Scott, you can be so dramatic you know! Please stop wasting our time and go to school please. Eve was interviewing along with the big boss's PA, Jack. She returned Leah’s file to her and stared at her shooting daggers at her.
