Episode 2
Inhaling deeply, Adela opened her eyes and sat up on the bed right away. She gasped for air. She found it impossible to accept what she was seeing.
After a while, she widened her eyes, looked at her hands, and gently touched her face. She murmured to herself, "What is going on? I was dead, right?"
Adela leaped out of bed as she considered moving toward the mirror. She caressed her face and opened her mouth wide. She muttered in an incredulous tone.
"Oh my God, I'm still alive."
However, the door suddenly opened, and Adela's maid rushed inside. When she spotted Adela, she burst into tears and embraced her firmly. Adela could not comprehend anything. It made her wonder what was happening around her.
Adela's maid, Elise, said in a worried tone, "Are you okay, my lady?"
Adela arched her brows and said, in a startled manner, "Yes. What happened to me? Elise, why are you crying?"
Elise turned her head when she heard Adela and looked at her with startled eyes. She questioned with concern, "What? Don't my lady remember she had a fever last night?"
Adela's eyes grew smaller as she spotted Elise's pitiful appearance. She considered what Elise had just said. Did she have a fever?
"I stayed awake all night watching over you, milady," Elise said again. "Even the Duchess was with you."
"Mother?" Adela mumbled in a startled tone.
Adela lowered her gaze after a minute as she considered something. She hesitantly walked up to the mirror and touched the glass.
Adela's Aside.
Fever? Yes, I have had high fevers before, the most severe of which knocked me unconscious for the whole day. That means that I am going back to that morning from two years ago. I have thus been reborn.
After a while,
Some servants heard a scream coming from Adela's chamber. They set down their tools and faced the doorway. They suddenly saw Elise rushing out of the chamber. They were shocked to see Elise and began muttering among themselves.
Maid 1: "What's up with Lady?"
Maid 2: I think she has awakened.
Maid 1: But why did Elise rush in such a way?
Maid 3: [loudly sighed]
Maid 3: We have nothing to do with that. Let's do our work here quickly or Ms. Adela would yell at us as well.
They looked perplexed and shook their heads.
Adela's chamber,
Adela took a seat on the bed. She never thought she'd get another chance. After a moment, a smile flashed across her face. She wouldn't make the same mistake again.
"I'm grateful to God for giving me this second chance. This time, I will not let you down."
Adela made a bow, closed her eyes, and expressed her gratitude to God. She exhaled deeply and looked up, saying, "Adela, Virginia, this is your chance; you must move right away."
"This time, I won't get myself into any problems. I won't harm anyone. I'll ignore the prince because he deserves it, and I'll attempt to find my murderer and my parents' murderer."
She rose to her feet and stared at the entrance, mumbling, "But where are my parents?"
Adela Virginia is Duke Alfred's daughter. She is a Mage. She Elegant, courageous, sincere, and subtle. She has pink lips contrast with white, creamy skin, blue eyes, and light, natural blonde hair. She can use power to raise and create monsters. Capable of taking down any sorcerer. She is an excellent defender. She can control all beasts.
She had raised a Taipan snake since she was a young girl. She gave it the name "Oba."
Adela hurried out of her room, wearing nothing on foot but her pajamas. She hadn't seen her parents in over five years. Every servant was astonished to see her rushing in that style. While running, Adela encountered her father's assistant.
He was stunned to see Adela running toward him. Before he could ask questions, Adela bolted.
"Is Lady all right?" murmured Carson quietly.
Adela noticed her mother and Elise coming towards the hallway as she was hurrying there.
"Mother?"
Adela mumbled and swiftly ran to her mother, giving her a warm hug.
"Mother, I truly miss you," Adela said as she smelled her mother's aroma. She missed her mother's embrace. Adela's mother also embraced her daughter tightly. It seemed like a long time had passed by and they finally met.
"Oh my sweet daughter, are you okay? We were worried about you," her mother remarked.
Veronica Virginia, Adela's mother, is a fire mage with golden hair like fire and blue eyes like the ocean.
She stroked her daughter's head. Adela relaxed her grip on her mother's arm and made a teary-eyed, contented face as she glanced up at her. "Mother, I love you," she said with a smile.
Adela was actually a selfish girl in her previous life. She disregarded her parents and always followed her preferences.
Veronica was pleased to see her daughter behave in this way, but she was a bit taken aback by how Adela was reacting. That her child had a sensitive side was something Veronica was unaware of.
"However, honey, why did you come here so hastily?" Veronica worriedly touched Adela's head to check her temperature and said, "Is it normal now?"
Adela was doing OK; she was no longer feverish. Veronica was a little shocked by this, though, considering Adela had a fever even the night before, and it was fully gone that morning.
"Adela, your fever?" Veronica said.
But Adela said, blinking her eyes and smiling, "Mother, I was missing you." She didn't have a headache with her temperature because her main concern was her mother.
Veronica smiled at Adela before speaking to Elise.
Veronica ordered, "Take my princess to her chamber and give her a wonderful makeover."
Elise answered, "Yes, Madame."
But instantly, Adela asked, "Why, mother?"
"Honey, do you forget everyone will return from the battle today? And to honor our victory, we're having a grand party tonight," remarked Veronica.
Adela widened her eyes. Yes, she could still recall the celebration at the royal palace from her memories.
She only wanted her parents to stay away from the emperor. But she knew she couldn't since her father, as Duke, had to remain with the Emperor. But how could she stop them now? First, not letting them visit there, which was impossible.
The second step was to stand by them and protect them.
Adela gave her mother a snug smile before asking, "Mother, is it necessary to attend?"
"What are you saying, Adela? Of course, we should. As the duke and duchess of this realm, we must attend and remain with the emperor," replied Veronica.
Adela's eyes narrowed when she heard the word "emperor." Her mother then said, "However, you just overcame a fever. You may remain here".
But Adela spoke out quickly, "No, I will go too."
"Okay, honey, then get ready," Veronica responded with a smile. After saying this, she walked away from there. Adela kept looking straight ahead at her mother's pathway. She had made up her mind to choose option two; she would go and protect her parents.
To be continued.
