10- Bride Dress

August 28th, 2016.

World change: World I.

When I open my eyes, everything is dark around me, except for the outside view from the window and the light from a cellphone. It saddens me to realize that I'm back in this stupid hospital, and judging by the uncomfortable silence, it must be early morning. I would like to know how I ended up in this stupid place again.

I touch my head reflexively, and notice that I have a bandage again. By the pressure of the touch, I feel pain and groan. That sound grabs the attention of the person using the cellphone, and it doesn't take me long to realize that it's Dakota.

"They called your sister to admit you once again. You passed out shortly after she left you alone yesterday," she tells me.

"Wait. I don't remember asking you," I growl again, but she laughs.

"Will the hospital be the place where we get used to seeing each other, Eron Montjoy?"

I take a deep breath. Time is indiscernible at this moment. Didn't I see her in that place just a minute ago? Heavens. Also, it surprises me to see her awake. She has the energy of a three-year-old! I lost all my vitality after turning eighteen. It doesn't make sense to me.

"What time is it, Dakota?"

"It's three in the morning," she confirms, wrapping herself in a blanket. "You were unconscious for about nine hours. Witnesses said you passed out before hitting your head, so you didn't lose consciousness due to bleeding or the impact of your head hitting the ground. Does this happen to you often?"

To the sensation of being observed, I can add a strange deja vu. It strikes me that somewhere in the back of my mind recognizes these questions. I don't know if it's because we were in the same hospital a few days ago, or if the hits are slowly driving me crazy.

And I feel even crazier when somewhere in my mind, images of Dakota walking towards me in a wedding dress appear.
