The Fury of the Alpha King

Charlotte

Despair consumed me, shattering any hope or dreams I might have harbored when I heard Logan's words. I was nothing more than a mere instrument, a breeder to provide him with an heir, only to be discarded afterward. I couldn't stay in the castle; I needed to escape if I wanted to keep my offspring and finally be free from the fear and despair of being abandoned by the Alpha King. But the pain was unbearable, and all I could do was kneel by the bed where I had surrendered my heart to that cruel man who deceived me with his caresses and glances, and I cried uncontrollably.

"Lady," the soldier approached with his hand extended, but seeing me recoil, he stepped back. "I can help you escape from here." I wiped away my tears and looked at him, but what hope could I have in escaping from the Alpha King? And what would that man gain from my escape?

"Why do you want to help me escape? Who are you, anyway?" I asked with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity.

"I am not subordinate to the cruel Alpha King. Like me, others wish to overthrow him from the throne," the man knelt beside me, his eyes filled with determination. "I heard what the Alpha King said, that he will abandon you once you bear him a child. You will be left alone, without a pack to protect you. I cannot simply turn a blind eye to another vile act of the Alpha King."

At that moment, I wasn't sure whether I could trust that man or not, but I was desperate and afraid. My offspring would be taken from me as soon as it was born, and I would be left utterly abandoned, as he had said. I wouldn't have a pack to protect and support me—I would be completely alone in the world. I decided to accept his help, albeit still somewhat hesitant, and when night fell, I would escape from the castle.

As my heat cycle was delayed, I knew the Alpha King wouldn't come to my room that night. So, I prepared to leave, leaving only a small piece of paper on the pillow. I took nothing with me except the blanket that covered my shoulders, shielding me from the cold night breeze. Taking anything else would only slow me down if I needed to flee. It didn't take long before the soldier appeared at the window of the room, opening it and offering his hand for me to follow. I looked one last time at that room—the door where I anxiously awaited Logan's arrival, the bed where I surrendered my body and soul to him. My heart ached at the realization that only I felt our connection and that Logan might never feel it. I placed my hand on my belly, silently wishing to provide a future for the child within me.

How I wished at that moment that everything could be different, that Logan would feel that I was his predestined and chosen mate by Luna and that we could live together with our offspring. But it wasn't meant to be. Logan didn't love me, and perhaps he never would. He only wanted the baby growing inside me and could take it from me without hesitation. Tears streamed down my face, and the pain of separating from Logan in that way was both dreadful and terrifying. But I couldn't go back now.

I held the hand of that stranger and followed him outside, descending through the castle walls, hiding in the shadows of the trees, and evading the few soldiers on patrol. We reached the walls, and there was a narrow passage, too small for the man accompanying me to pass through. I turned to question him, but he motioned for me to stay quiet and proceed forward, so I did. I was alone now, just my baby and me, fleeing from the Cruel Alpha King.

Logan

I couldn't calm myself down; my mind was filled with images of Charlotte lying in bed, her long brown hair scattered across the pillows, and her flushed face with her shining brown eyes. My heart raced every time I remembered her soft voice speaking my name. There was still work to be done, but I couldn't focus on anything. I simply pushed everything away and reclined in my chair. Lian finally learned to stay silent, but he continued to stare at me, which began to bother me.

"What?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"My lord is thinking about Miss Malory," I burst out laughing upon hearing your conclusions.

"Why would I be thinking about her?" I questioned. Lian handed me a report where the name "Charlotte" was written in my handwriting but with my surname. I had no idea when I had done something like that.

"That wasn't the first time, and some servants have seen you passing by Miss Mallory's room several times," Lian said.

"That corridor is the shortest way to the office, that's all," I replied. Lian closed his eyes and shrugged.

"If my lord says so, then that's what happened," Lian said, taking the papers and stepping away.

I left the office and walked intending to go to my room, but I stopped in front of Charlotte's door. What was happening to me? I went straight to my room, throwing the first thing in my way. I needed to understand what was happening to me and why that woman wouldn't leave my mind.

"Bring Charlotte's maid to me now!" I shouted from inside the room, and a few minutes later the woman entered accompanied by one of the soldiers. "Go to her room and bring her to me," I commanded.

I was determined to clear everything up, to understand what those things in my mind and my chest were, and to put an end to it all. The minutes passed, and then the maid returned alone. As soon as she did, she fell to her knees before me, sobbing uncontrollably. Her face was pale, and she was trembling from head to toe.

"Where is she?" I asked, growing irritated. The woman continued sobbing and pleading for her wretched life, her face pressed against the ground.

"My lord, I beg you," she pleaded. I grabbed her hair and lifted her off the ground, causing her to scream as she tried to release my grip. "Please, my lord, have mercy." I glanced at the soldier behind her, who looked as pale as the woman and was sweating in fear.

"Speak," I commanded through clenched teeth. Lian appeared breathless behind the soldier.

"My lord, Lady Malory has disappeared. She is not in her room, and no one seems to have seen her after dinner," Lian said, looking at the maid in my grasp and falling silent.

Everything had turned red in front of me. I dragged the maid out of the room and through the corridor. All I could hear was Lian's voice in my head, relentlessly repeating that Charlotte had disappeared. I reached the top of the main staircase, where all the servants were gathered in panic. It was then, in one swift motion, that I severed the head of the maid who was supposed to be taking care of Charlotte, but it failed, and everyone knew what the punishment was for those who disobeyed my orders.

"Search every damn room, every hall, and every corner of this castle. Find her before the sun rises on the horizon if you wish to keep your heads attached to your bodies." I roared from the top of the staircase, and everyone began to move.

The frenzy began, and anyone who arrived with negative reports was killed on the spot. One after another, the staircase had already turned into a red cascade with blood flowing down to the main door of the castle. My chest burned, and it felt like it was about to split in half. Even in my worst battle, I had never felt a pain like this. It seemed that my heart couldn't bear the remote possibility of being separated from Charlotte.

As the sun rose, there was no trace of Charlotte, and my fury was already out of control at this point. I ordered all those responsible for Charlotte's security and care to be gathered in the courtyard, and one by one, I executed them. Their bodies were displayed as an example to others so that everyone would know what happens to those who fail in their duties.

"Gather the main guard," Liam looked at me with attention and apprehension. "Search for her throughout the kingdom, even if it means burning down the entire Reims forest to find her. Bring her back to me."
