Chapter 4 Entanglement
My mother and I finally returned to the pack, and my father personally greeted my mother like a savior. At the same time, he also brought a thorny problem to my mother. She needed to arrange Susan’s wedding in two days. Because my father received news from the royal family, the royal army would pass by our pack and stay here for two days. A member of the royal family would accompany the army. My father wanted to invite the royal member to the wedding ceremony, which, of course, was my father’s usual means of greed for power. His purpose was nothing but to curry favor with the royal family!
Under my father's relentless demands, my mother had to bear this heavy responsibility. And I naturally became my mother’s helper. At the same time, she hoped that I could learn some skills as Luna from her. “Show that damn Jack that you can be an excellent Luna even without a wolf!” My mother said to me.
My mother didn’t know that my wolf had come. In fact, I wasn’t going to tell anyone this fact yet. When the time was right, I would definitely surprise everyone! The preparations for the wedding were proceeding in an orderly way under the guidance of my mother. I had to help my mother deal with all kinds of problems every day, and I was almost so busy that I had no rest time. And my sister Susan was struggling with what kind of jewelry to choose and what style of bouquet to choose. She was only responsible for how to make a beautiful appearance on the wedding day, and other trivial things were pushed to me.
This was my first time participating in wedding preparations, and with not enough rest time, I even forgot to give my wedding ring to the best man before the preparations began! Damn it, now I had to knock on the door of the best man’s lounge with a wedding ring box. However, the man who opened the door turned out to be the groom, Jack! When he saw me, he paused and stared at me quietly for a few seconds. I looked at his familiar face, and the wound that had healed in my heart was torn open again. Jack in front of me had become more mature than before, and he looked so dazzling against the gorgeous velvet coat!
“Emily, is that you?” Jack’s eyes sparkled with surprise. He approached me and sniffed my hair. “You are different!”
“I just came to give the best man a wedding ring!” I hurried back, but Jack grabbed my wrist and held me in his arms. “Emily! Do you know how much I miss you?”
“Let me go!” I struggled hard. “Jack, today is your wedding! Please pay attention to your words and deeds! I don’t want anything to do with you!”
“Emily, are you really unwilling to be my mistress?” Jack obviously didn’t intend to let me go. He held my hands tighter. “You know, I always think of our past when you are away! I can’t forget you!”
“Jack, it’s over!” I fought back my inner pain and said, “You should be loyal to your Luna!”
“Emily! Please forgive me!” Jack looked at me with sincere eyes and said, “I can’t give you the birthright of Luna, and I will certainly satisfy everything you want! Please come back to me!” I secretly smiled. What he didn’t want to give was exactly what I wanted!
“Let me go!” I said with a straight face, “unless you want all the guests to know that you are trying to molest me! Once I scream!”
“I won’t let any man have you! Never!” Jack said mercilessly. “I will tear up the man who touched you! I swear!”
“Damn it, Jack! What are you doing?” Then Luke, the best man, came over. He was Jack’s cousin. When he saw this scene in front of him, Luke’s eyebrows gathered together. He rebuked Jack in a low voice.
"Jack, how can you still be preoccupied with other women at a moment like this? The royal family will be arriving at the wedding scene shortly, and you seem oblivious to the fact that Prince Leon himself will be among the esteemed guests!"
“What?” Jack exclaimed, and he quickly released his hands. At this time, his attention was no longer on me!
Escaping from Jack’s clutch, I quickly stuffed the box containing the wedding ring to Luke, the best man, and then turned and ran towards the banquet hall where the wedding was held.
As the royal family's arrival drew near, I found myself standing in the bustling banquet hall, surrounded by hushed whispers and eager discussions among the female guests, all abuzz about Prince Leon. The air was charged with excitement, and one particularly ardent conversation caught my attention – it was Susan's exuberant friend, Helen, leading the animated chatter.
"Oh, have you heard about Prince Leon? He's said to be as cold as ice, yet undeniably alluring. They say he possesses a beauty unlike any other in the world. If only fate would grant me the chance to be his mate! I'd gladly give up anything just to spend one night with him," Helen gushed with a dreamy expression, her eyes brimming with longing for the Prince. Just as I passed by her, she stumbled, causing the liquid from her goblet to spill all over my best dress.
"Damn it, Helen!" I couldn't help but curse as the light yellow liquid stained the fabric.
"Emily, you really should watch your step," Helen commented in an insincere tone before turning around to continue her discussion with other female guests. Helen was just like Susan in passing the buck.
Frustrated and now in need of a clean dress, I hurried back to my room, hoping I wouldn't be late for the upcoming wedding ceremony. In my mind, I couldn't fathom the notion that the esteemed Prince of royalty would even acknowledge my existence. The royal family was rumored to be of grand stature and incomparable beauty, with Prince Leon hailed as the epitome of bravery and handsomeness among them.
But what has that to do with me? Among the throngs of starry-eyed admirers, I felt lost in the crowd, unsure if I would even get a chance to catch a glimpse of him.
