Chapter 3 In Trouble
"Ring. Ring." Just as Anna was in a state of confusion, the doorbell suddenly rang, followed by a gentle voice outside the door.
"Giorgio, I have something in my hand, please open the door."
This voice belonged to her sister. The soft, fake sweetness.
Anna trembled, her already nervous heart jumped to her throat. She didn't know where she found the strength, but she pushed Giorgio away.
It's over, it's over!
Her sister has arrived! Katherine would kill her.
What should she do?
Giorgio naturally heard the voice outside the door. He looked at the pale woman in front of him, frowned, and lifted his hand to open the video doorbell. Then he saw another woman outside who looked exactly like the one before, and his pupils tightened.
What's going on?
Why does he have one Katherine in his arms and another one outside?
The atmosphere became tense, everything came to a halt.
Anna was in such a state of panic that she couldn't care less about Giorgio's gaze.
Her sister didn't allow her to appear in front of him before. What would she think if she saw her disheveled appearance and messy clothes now? How would she explain, her smudged lip gloss, her messy hair?
She pleaded, "Sir, please help me!"
So, she is not Katherine?
His handsome face sank, and his voice became cold and condensed, "Who are you?"
Anna's palms tightened.
She was her sister's sister, but would revealing her identity expose something? Expose everything? It would change everything. His world. Her world.
"Ring, ring!"
"Giorgio, are you there?" Before Anna could figure out how to answer, the urging voice from outside rang again.
Giorgio stared at her embarrassment, his eyes like a whirlpool, as if deeply thinking. After a while, to avoid unnecessary trouble, he coldly said, "You go in first, and don't come out till I tell you to."
His voice was cold and abrupt, completely different from the previous warmth, and it carried an order.
"Yes." Anna nodded and quickly ran into the living room, hiding behind the curtains.
She was as fast as a rabbit.
After Anna hid, Giorgio finally shifted his gaze, raised his hand, and opened the door.
Outside the door, Katherine was holding a huge bad of groceries. When she saw Giorgio, she quickly smiled, "Giorgio, you're here? I thought you hadn't opened the door for so long, I wondered if you were here."
She smiled gently, like a virtuous wife.
Giorgio looked at the face that was exactly the same as the woman earlier, a mist of doubt filled his mind, but he didn't show much emotion. He asked with elegance, "Aren't you busy with work? Why did you come?"
Katherine's face changed slightly.
Since his grandfather passed away suddenly, they were unable to get married, and he had been distant towards her ever since. Now she had made a special effort to come here for him, hoping to spend more time together. She thought he would be happy, but…
She tried to maintain her smile, saying, "I was worried about you. You seem to have trouble adjusting to every new place you go, so I came to cook for you."
Giorgio took the takeout, his lips slightly pursed, "You don't have to trouble yourself anymore. We have takeout at home, and Charlie and I are used to it."
His tone was indifferent, his posture was noble, but there was no tenderness.
This man! Her sister cooked for him with good intentions, but he was so arrogant and ungrateful?
Katherine didn't expect her enthusiasm to be directly rejected by Giorgio. She felt a bittersweet pang in her mouth.
About to say something, she suddenly noticed a strand of a woman's hair on his white shirt, and she asked in surprise, "Huh? Giorgio, why is there a woman's hair on your shirt?"
Hair!
Uh-oh, it must have gotten on him during their…struggle, earlier!
What should she do? If her sister finds her here, hidden like this, it would be impossible to explain!
Anna anxiously held her breath.
On the other hand, Giorgio glanced at the strand of hair calmly and coldly said, "From the delivery woman."
It was a casual and indifferent remark, with no discernible emotions.
But how could a delivery woman come into the house? And get on his chest? And he hadn't opened the door for a while, so did a woman come to seduce him?
Katherine had her doubts, and she tried to maintain her elegance, saying, "Oh, well, Giorgio, you can eat first, I'll tidy up the room for you."
This was a side of her sister Anna did not recognize. This sweet, servile woman. Doing things for a man who did not care for her at all. As far as she had known, Katherine only cared for herself, and only ever did things that would serve her.
As she spoke, without waiting for Giorgio to refuse, she put down the groceries and started tidying up.
She first went to the cabinet, opened it and dusted it off, then she walked to the sofa and bent down to arrange the cushions, her eyes looking down.
Her movements seemed like tidying up, but it was more like she was searching for something!
Anna hid behind the curtain, watching every move her sister made, her breath almost stopping.
Her sister was clearly suspicious and searching for something.
And the living room was so small and bereft of most furniture, she would soon find it.
Sure enough, within two minutes, Katherine's gaze landed on the curtain!
Her footsteps approached step by step.
In an instant, Anna's palms tightened, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.
It's over. It’s all over.
