Chapter 8 Confrontation

Isabella's heart raced as she heard the sound of a loud crash. It seemed as if the whole villa shook.

"Was that Grace banging on the door?" she wondered.

Things couldn't go on like this. Isabella looked at the butler and instructed, "Let Miss Turner come in."

"Yes, madam," the butler answered obediently.

When Grace entered, she was seething with anger. Her eyes bore into Isabella's figure, as if wanting to bore a hole through her.

However, upon seeing Amber, she composed herself slightly. "Miss Turner is here too, what a coincidence," Grace said.

"Yes, I came to see my sister-in-law," Amber continued to smile sweetly. "You probably haven't met my sister-in-law before, have you? Let me introduce her, this is the lady beside me. Isn't she exceptionally beautiful, gentle, and virtuous looking?"

Grace clenched her teeth and sarcastically replied, "Just so."

"But my brother is head over heels for her, he loves her to death and spoils her like crazy," Amber added.

"I don't believe it," Grace retorted. "I know her, she has never appeared by Sebastian's side!"

Isabella looked at her sternly. "Miss Turner, do you happen to know every woman by my husband's side?"

"Of course!" was Grace’s arrogant reply.

"Perfect! Miss Turner just told me that I should go and cause a scene in front of him, show some jealousy," Isabella replied.

"so that there won't be any undesirable people lingering around him."

Amber was secretly amazed. She never expected her delicate and gentle sister-in-law to be so assertive!

"What did you do to make him willingly marry you?" Grace looked straight at her.

"My younger sister-in-law just said it, he loves me," Isabella straightened her back, "Didn't Miss Turner hear it clearly?"

"I can't believe it! What makes you worthy of marrying him! Even if the Wallace family is fallen now, even when they were prosperous, you still wouldn't be a match for him. Besides... you're still engaged to someone else!"

Isabella smiled, "Miss Turner has investigated my background thoroughly. But, I'll say it again, he married me despite all this. If it's not true love, then what other explanation could there be?"

Grace was about to cry in frustration. Amber originally wanted to protect his sister-in-law, but seeing her fighting capability being off the charts, she just watched the show from the side lines.

But when she saw Grace showing signs of wanting to physically attack Isabella, Amber sat up straight, ready to intervene. In the chaos, she noticed a man on the second-floor balcony, in a nonchalant posture.

Why is my brother so calm?

Amber was about to call out to him, but Sebastian raised his index finger to his lips, indicating for her to be quiet, and not draw attention to his presence.

Grace rushed toward Isabella in her high heels, her crimson painted nails seemingly ready to scratch Isabella's face.

But...

Before her hand could touch Isabella, a glass of ice-cold water was poured straight toward her, perfectly aimed.

"Ah!" Grace screamed, her face, hair, and collar all soaked in water. Isabella calmly placed the glass down.

"This is Willow-brook Estate, not your Turner family residence, and I am the mistress of Willow-brook Estate. It's not your place to act arrogant here."

Everyone around them was shocked. Mrs. Lawrence, who seemed meek and obedient, turned out to be so assertive...

Grace's makeup was ruined, and she was left speechless by the glass of water.

"Oh dear," Amber spoke up, "Miss Turner, look what you've caused. You've disturbed my brother."

Amber had never seen a situation like this, so after thinking for a moment, she decided to bring her brother into the scene.

Sebastian casually raised an eyebrow and walked downstairs, his footsteps muffled by the soft carpet, silent and undetectable.

"Sebastian!" Grace was the first to speak, pointing to Isabella.

"Can you believe she actually threw water at me! No one has ever dared to treat me like this before!"

Sebastian calmly said, "Get Miss Turner some tissues."

The dumbfounded butler finally responded, "Yes, yes, right away Mr. Lawrence."

Grace waved the butler's hand away, "No need! I will get them myself! Sebastian, I will not let this go just like that!"

"What do you plan to do?" Sebastian asked, "How do you want to handle this?"

Amber couldn't help herself, "Brother..."

Grace proudly declared, "Of course, I will throw it back at her. And she will apologize to me until I forgive her!"

Sebastian asked, "Anything else?"

Amber grew anxious and discreetly tugged at Isabella’s sleeve, "Sister-in-law, say something!"

"She will also leave you," Grace's voice revealed a smugness, "Sebastian, this kind of woman simply doesn't deserve you."

Sebastian crossed his legs, "Is that all?"

"Yes! That's it, Sebastian."

"Alright." He supported his forehead and responded, "Then, may I express my thoughts? The glass of ice water my wife was holding must have been quite chilly."

"Ah?"

"Whether it was scalding hot or with ice cubes, I couldn't bear to let her touch it. Her hands are precious, yet you made her do such rough work. Now, what should we do about this?"

This sudden reversal caught everyone off guard.

Sebastian continued speaking, his voice ringing out—

"Secondly, you frightened her. At Willow-brook Estate, you pointed fingers at her and spoke harshly. Don't you see your own reflection?"

"Thirdly, without my permission, who allowed you to come in?"

"Fourthly, you have disrupted my work."

"Fifthly, because of you, she turned to me for comfort. I had to soothe her. Can you bear the responsibility if I fail to do so?"

One by one, these words were spoken with an indifferent tone, yet each one held a warning, making one's heart tremble.

Grace was stunned. "Sebastian, you... you were actually trying to defend her?"

"I'm not defending her, am I defending you?"

"But she..."

Sebastian simply asked, "What did you just say? You wanted to pour the water back on her, make my wife apologize, and only then would you forgive her. And you wanted her to leave me, right?"

"I... I did say that..."

"In that case..." Sebastian interrupted, "Do you understand what that means?"

It meant that Isabella would throw another glass of water at Grace, and Grace would have to apologize until Isabella forgave her, and only then could she leave Willow-brook Estate.

"Oh, by the way," Sebastian suddenly remembered something, "The Turner family has always been strict with family values. I think Miss Turner, this time, might have to reflect in seclusion for a month."

At first, the Turner family supported Grace because it would be to the benefit of both families.

However, Grace was never able to defeat Sebastian by winning over his heart, and instead became the laughingstock of New York's gossip, causing the Turner family to oppose the relationship.

But Grace didn't listen. She was stubborn and caused the Turner family embarrassment, leading to people mocking them, so they had to discipline her.

Usually, if nothing major happened, it would be fine, but this time... Sebastian wouldn't let the Turner family off so easily.

"...I'm sorry." Grace's fingernails dug into her palms. "Mrs. Lawrence, it was my fault. I hope you can forgive me and not hold it against me."

Isabella maintained her haughty demeanor and smiled. "It's not a big deal. However, Miss Turner, remember this: acting recklessly on someone else's territory is equivalent to digging your own grave. Understand?"

"Mrs. Lawrence is right..." was Grace’s difficult response.

"Alright, you may leave. Oh, and remember to fix the door you broke," Isabella said, "Don't make such foolish mistakes again."

Grace walked away in high heels, filled with resentment.

Watching her leave, Isabella thought, well, another enemy made.

In the future, there will be plenty of people who want to flay her and drink her blood and eat her flesh.

She withdrew her gaze and realized that Sebastian had been staring at her the whole time, his lips curving into a smirk.

"Is the show entertaining, dear husband?" Isabella said. "You stayed upstairs the whole time and didn't come down to help me."

He arched an eyebrow. "Is it my fault?"

"Oh, of course not," she chuckled. "I'm just complaining, that's all."

"It seems I can't comfort you," Sebastian sighed softly, "Grace should be responsible for that."

Isabella truly didn't understand how this man could so calmly shirk responsibility and speak as if he would do things he had no intention of doing.

Comfort her? When has he ever comforted her! What a joke! She thought.

If he had come downstairs earlier, she wouldn't have offended Grace so thoroughly. Amber's gaze shifted between the two, feeling that it was not appropriate to stay here any longer.

"Brother, if there's nothing else, I'll head back now!" She stood up and brushed off her clothes. "I won't disturb you in comforting our sister-in-law anymore. If you don't know how, I can give you some pointers for a fee."

Sebastian's voice turned cold. "Sit down."
