Chapter 5
Laura Brando narrating:
In front of a seemingly luxurious nightclub, I got out of the car leaning on Aron's hands with some difficulty so as not to reveal my nakedness under the dress, it was clear to see the way he was turned on by this, and I must admit that I loved seeing this reaction in him. Holding my hands as if we were a couple, we entered being surrounded by everyone's eyes. Aron is an attractive man, women lust after him, and that in a way I don't understand, bothers me. Especially when his eyes desire another woman.
''Don't do anything baby'' Aron whispered.
Climbing the stairs behind me so that no one would see my nakedness, we arrived upstairs, the security guards made room for Aron, and placed us in a reserved place with a table full of good whiskies.
'' Sounds like an important guy.'' I said as I curled a lock of my hair with my fingers.
''Yes... I'm the owner. I need to take care of some important business, don't do anything, you'll be with one of my henchmen. I promise I won't be long.''
Aron said in a firm commanding voice, but his fingers caressing my face made me soften and not question him.
Aron Curry narrating:
'' Don't let her out... let alone anyone else in'' I ordered the henchman I left security for Laura.
I walked hurriedly, seeing Magno with a stripper on his lap, his confrontational eyes intimidated me.
'' Nice club, I'm even thinking of postponing this conversation...'' Magno spoke in a wry tone.
Drawing my gun and placing it on the table, I adopted a rougher stance.
''Straight to the point, I'm not about to play games Magno.''
'' You have become a man of few words Aron, your father was identical, too bad you chose the mafia instead of meeting him...'' Magno.
Magno's words gave birth to an uncontrollable fury that led me to get up, pushing the chair and putting my gun to Magno's throat, seeing his eyes fill with fear, a feeling he liked to cause.
'' Don't talk about what you don't know...'' I said straight to the point. I cursed, watching him straighten the collar of his suit.
'' Can you estimate the chaos it was when Laura had simply disappeared? The shame. You asked me for a favor and I did it... for nothing, that wasn't part of the deal'' Magno said with harsh words.
''I saved her from her unfaithful son, the deal was that I would take care of her, protect her, make her happy..., but I found her devastated after being betrayed.''
''I remember, you knocked me out, you should have shouted right there who you are... the reason she doesn't have a father'' Magno raged.
''If you tell her, if you take her away from me... I'll be the reason you don't have a child. Our deal wasn't free, I paid you. Now I want her and she will stay...''
Getting up from the table where I was sitting, I turned my back ready to leave.
''You're a mobster, but you're still a mortal man. How much do you want for Laura?''
'' She's not for sale...''
'' You stole her from my son, you broke a deal...'' When your enemies see the weak man Laura makes you, you'll be a dead man.''
''I don't mind dying beside her. If you come back here, you will be a dead man.''
I threatened him still on his back looking over his shoulder. Leaving that room, I walked back to where I had left Laura, it is a risk to keep her here.
'' Mr. Aron...'' The henchman who had left her watching said surprised with his eyes screwed up.
''Where is she?'' I bellowed angrily, confirming that Laura was not where I had left her.
Walking through the corridors of that nightclub, I felt my heart pounding in fear and anger at the same time, an anger that made me capable of killing my henchman right there. Turning around, I returned to the room where I had left Magno, rudely ripped the stripper off his lap, pushing her away and making him stand up by the collar of his suit.
'' Where is Laura?'' I shouted staring into his eyes.
'' I don't know... I don't know what you're talking about...''
Magno spoke with his voice trembling in fear, his eyes proved that he knew nothing about Laura. Throwing him on the floor, I took my cell phone calling my men, moving all the security of that nightclub, I walked hurriedly, being guided by despair. Laura couldn't have run away.
Half an hour passed, half an hour, half a bottle of whiskey and no answer as to where Laura was. Magno's words mulled me over, a mobster, a man of enemies always loses what he loves most, so I wouldn't allow myself to get involved with anyone until Laura made it impossible.
"What happened?" Jason said with astonished eyes entering the club.
"Laura. She's gone."
"No... she just wants you to find her, to show you care."
"How could I not care about her Jason?"
"You left a betrayed woman who swore to show you love, alone.... Edgar must have abandoned her like this before."
Jason was impulsive, without responsibilities, but he knew something I didn't, women, love. He made me realize I was doing everything wrong. Pushing him out the doors, if Laura wanted love, she wouldn't find it in a nightclub.
Laura Brando narrating:
Loneliness makes us think about company, and although Edgar hurt me so much, I can't deny that my heart still aches for him, that when I remember his touch, his kiss, the feeling that loving him generated in me, I feel my heart beat harder against my ribcage. Being alone, two glasses of wine, and I was in the middle of the cold crowd of that nightclub, loving the feeling that the men's gaze generated in me, but I had only one thought, to take advantage of the evil eyes.
A man alone, wanting to feel important, the feeling that most compromises a man, it was enough for me to put my thigh against his leg, and I had access to his entire suit, including the cell phone in his pocket.
Which made me walk out the doors of the nightclub and question myself, run away without looking back, or surrender myself once and for all to a love as cold as Aron's, or one as romantic as Jason's. I was a man who wanted to feel important.
