CHAPTER 6

RAUL'S POV

I stood with fear as my father fought with a fierce intensity I had never seen before.

But unfortunately, my father, Alpha George, was no match for the black fur werewolves. I watched in horror as my father was overwhelmed, his body disappearing under a pile of snarling wolves.

I tried to move my body with all my might to aid my dying father but it was as if my legs were glued to the ground. Agonizing tears streamed down my face as I watched.

"Protect your mother and pack my son!" My father yelled before he was taken down. "You are the future of our pack!"

I stood in the aftermath of the attack, my heart heavy and my eyes swollen with tears.

The scent of blood and death hung heavy in the air, and the once vibrant forest was now silent and still. I looked around, taking in the destruction that had been wrought upon my pack.

The bodies of my packmates lay scattered around me, their fur matted with blood and their eyes forever closed.

He could now see my father, the Alpha, lying on the ground with wounds all over his body.

I fell to my knees, tears streaming down my face. "Why did they do this, Father?" I whispered, my voice choked with grief. "Why did they attack us?"

I let out a heart-wrenching howl of grief when a touch on my face made my eyes open.

I felt a tear in my eyes and quickly wiped it. I sat up on the couch I fell asleep on, my eyes meeting the ones of my beta, Benjamin.

I noticed my claws were out, making a sigh to escape my lips.

I ran my hand through my hair, enjoying the silence. Benjamin didn't have to ask as he knew that I had another agonizing dream of how we lost our pack mates.

I didn't utter a word and just stood up. I needed to cool off my head and letting my wolf out was the only way.

I needed to run. I didn't say anything to Ben and steered into the woods, letting all the pain I felt out in a growl. I ran for a while before deciding to rest.

I exhaled loudly and laid my body on a tree and was resting when my nose was hit with the most intoxicating smell of caramel.

I abruptly stood up and let my legs lead me to where the captivating smell was coming from.

I kept on walking aimlessly, my eyes scanning the environment for possible danger, but there was no danger lurking around.

I walked for a while and stopped at a cliff where my eyes finally landed on a petite yet curvy figure.

I could feel my wolf, Jayden, stirring in my head. I wondered what his excitement was all about. I stood staring at her back, wondering why she was standing at the cliff when suddenly, she jumped off.

Shocked, I quickly braced myself, running towards the cliff. I didn't think twice and jumped after her.

I scanned with my eyes in the water but didn't see any sign of her.

I dive deeper into the water until my eyes fell on her sinking body. I quickly trudged toward her with speed.

I don't know why I felt a surge to protect her. I was moving closer, she wasn't struggling and was sinking deeper.

Her face looked pale like she was lifeless and that scared me.

I wrapped my strong arms around her petite waist and began to swim out of the water.

The moment we were out of the water, I let out a very loud breath. I mustered all my strength and dragged both of us out of the water.

"Hey! Wake up!" I tapped her shoulder but got no reply. I patted her face gently but still got no response.

I placed my hand to feel her pulse and felt a faint one. I began to perform CPR on her but still got no movement from her.

My only last hope was to perform mouth-to-mouth respiration even if I didn't want to, I knew I had to.

I closed my eyes and began to move my lips to her. My lips were about to touch hers when something bumped my forehead. A growl escaped my lips.

"Ouch!" She yelped, rubbing her forehead with her hand. I stood up awkwardly as I noticed the weird position between us.

I stretched my hand to help her but gave me an annoyed look and didn't accept it. She stood up on her own. She looked pissed which surprised me.

"Saying Thank you wouldn't hurt you, you know right!" I said, dusting the sand on my body.

"Why did you save me? You could have just left me to die, why did you save me?" She suddenly yelled, pushing me on the chest aggressively.

Her sudden outburst left me baffled. This is the Thank you I get for trying to help. A loud scoff escaped my lips.

"I just fucking risk my life to save you and you're asking me why I saved you," I mumbled, running my hands through my dark messy curls.

"Why didn't you just mind your business and let me die," She let out, making my blood boil.

"The nerve of her," I murmured to myself but she heard him. She glared at me like she could murder me at any moment. But her next action shocked me more.

"You're a rogue, shit," She spoke out and before I knew it, she charged at me without me knowing, her fist connecting with my face.

In a swift, she kicked me, sending me stumbling back. I was surprised and at the same time irritated by her.

I regained my balance," Whoa, hold on!" I groaned out. "I saved you because it was the right thing to do, I'm not your enemy," I let out but my words didn't seem to work with her as she charged at me again but this time I was fast to stop her holding her in place but I felt a surge of sparks flared through my body, which was weird.

I immediately let go of her and the sparks I once felt stopped.

"Weird!" I mumbled to myself.

She was about to hit me when I held her and the spark erupted more than the first time and the word I never expected to hear from my lips slipped out.

"MATE!"
