Chapter 11

"There's quite a lot, it's hard to explain in a short time." I stumbled over my words.

"How about I invest in a movie for you and make you an Oscar-winning actress?"

Get lost! I jumped away from him as if avoiding the plague.

"Sure, that's also an option." I wiped my hands disdainfully with a tissue, "But as a daughter-in-law of a prominent family, is it appropriate for me to be in the limelight?"

He walked over, ignoring me, and sat on the sofa, his gaze fixed on me inch by inch.

"You're so addicted to acting, showing off your affections wherever you go, such a talent wasted."

Wasted on your ass.

“I am sincere, why do you always misunderstand me, Mr. Xie?”

I straightened my skirt, sat properly across from him, took out the breakfast, arranged the plates, and inserted a straw for him.

"Let's eat. Oh, it's getting cold later."

Seeing that he didn't move and was still staring at me, I avoided his gaze. After a while, his secretary and assistant called, and he answered the phone, still looking at me. I vaguely heard something and knew that he was busy today. So I consciously went to the bedroom to get him a shirt and suit, and matched them for him.

“How about pairing it with this black plaid tie?” “Hmm,” he lazily looked at me. “It’s already 8:30, and your meeting is at 9. Hurry up and change.”

Seeing that he didn't move, I had to go over and urge him. He glanced at me and reached out his hand, letting me pull him up. My first reaction was to slap his hand away, but good manners didn't allow me to do so. I reached out to pull him, but he didn't move. Then with a gentle force, I ended up falling into his arms. I tried to find support, and my hand slipped into his robe. I was startled...

"Is this the reason you eagerly came to find me?"

He looked at my "dirty" hand with a mocking smile. Seeing his mocking expression, my fighting spirit was ignited.

"What's wrong with touching? It's legal and acceptable.”

As I said this, I intentionally moved it again. He probably didn’t expect my audacity, and for a moment, he became speechless. He just looked at me with his peach blossom eyes and seemed absent-minded.

"Honestly, you should work on your abs. They feel average, soft..."

As I said this, I tried to get up. He glanced at me and instead of getting angry, he laughed,

“Then go a bit lower.”

I stood up in a second, and my face turned red. This despicable man.

"Hurry up, you're going to be late."

I admit, I was a bit flustered. I couldn't explain why exactly. He didn't bother me anymore and stood up to change clothes. I stood behind him and helped him put on his clothes, checking every inch of his back for any signs of a woman. I was somewhat surprised and strangely delighted.

"Are your eyes all over me?"

He lowered his head and looked at me with a smile. I refocused and started to tie his tie.

"Perhaps there are some people who have their hands all over you."

Thinking of the hickey on Katie's neck that day, I felt unhappy, so I complained lightly. However, he held onto my hand and whispered, "Nonsense."

"Well, then, consider it nonsense. But there are some people who come to your room early in the morning, wanting to fool around."

He froze for a second. He probably understood what I was talking about and felt guilty.

"Katie?" He asked me, knowing the answer.

"Who knows," I replied angrily.

"She's my brother's girlfriend."

He let go of my hand, tied his tie himself, and appeared sad.

"Why are you so jealous?"

His brother’s girlfriend? Did I misunderstand? But is it really a misunderstanding? Why does he seem so off? I wanted to ask some more questions, but considering that he was about to go to a meeting and he probably wouldn't answer, I held back to avoid spoiling the mood.

"When will you come back tonight?" I asked him as I walked him to the door. "

“Why do you ask?" He stared at me without saying a word, sighing

I was just a little anxious. He ignored me and walked to the edge of the island counter to pour himself a glass of water. I hurried over and took the initiative to pour him a glass of water.

He looked at me strangely.

"Do you want me to give you a shoulder massage? I'm quite good at it," I asked.

He sat on the sofa and gave me a glance, "Grace, I'm tired. There's no one else here, stop pretending."

"I'm just doing my duties as a wife. Can't you just enjoy it?" I glared at him and gave him a shoulder massage.

"How do you want me to enjoy it?"

His words were somewhat weak, and his face was filled with an extremely wicked smile. I stood there, contemplating. In fact, I was weighing my options.

"Didn't I ask the secretary to book another room for you?" he changed the subject.

"Isn't reserving two rooms a waste?" I said with a smile.

He didn't say anything, just smiled. Later, we washed up, went to bed, everything felt so natural. In the end, we laid together side by side, nothing happened. He didn't make any moves, but instead seemed to be falling asleep. I was deeply hurt. Me, a beauty lying next to him, and he was indifferent, even playing dead? How infuriating!

He indeed had someone else in his heart, and I willingly kept my unrequited love pure as jade for him. Why should I? I won't let him succeed. Besides, he's good-looking and in good shape. Consuming him is my legal right!

I turned around, leaned in, and whispered, "Kenneth."

"Hmm?" His voice sounded drowsy.

"Do you want to kiss?" I asked him.

He paused, then finally opened his eyes. His peach blossom eyes stared at me in the darkness.

"What else do you want to do?"

"Your grandfather says he wants a great grandson," I said confidently.

He continued to stare at me. After a while, he said, "Not today."

He rejected me. Even with my thick skin, I couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

"Okay, I'll ask again tomorrow,"

I quickly turned away as if nothing had happened. But in reality, I was grinding my teeth. I'm so pitiful, after getting married, I won't even get much money and I'll have to live as a widow.

I wanted to find some extra happiness for myself, but I was rejected. We're all adults, and I'm not some pure-hearted nun. And actually, I lied today. His abs really do feel great to touch.

I am guilty.

"Come here," he suddenly sighed and pulled me closer.

"What are you doing? Don't provoke me, you've hurt me, and now we're enemies.

"It's already midnight, I have to wake up at six in the morning for a meeting," he looked at me seriously.

"And then, do you want me to wake up and buy breakfast for you?"

See, I'm so pathetic. I have no money and yet I have to maintain the image of a virtuous wife and mother, working for him.

"Who asked you to buy breakfast?" He looked at me sternly, "I'm just reminding you to make use of the time."

I was dumbfounded. I didn't know what to do next.

"Working during the day and overtime at night, that's what I owe you," he grumbled, unbuttoning his shirt.

Why do I feel like the roles have reversed? How is this different from how it's written in novels?

"You don't have to unbutton.," I whispered.

"Grace, you..."

"What's the rush?"

In an instant, I felt so embarrassed that I wanted to hide. Thankfully, the lights were off, so he couldn't see.

"Why waste words?"

I took the initiative and kissed him.

"Hold on," he stopped me.

“What’s wrong?”

He was always fussing about something.

"I need to make a phone call to my assistant and buy some things."

I was taken aback, wasn't that already known to everyone?

"No need, I'm fine," I assured him confidently.

He sighed, "You deserve better than this."

Nonsense, I kissed him directly. Halfway through, he asked me to hold on.

I eagerly nodded, "I can really handle it, I'm fine."

In the end...

I kicked him off the bed, saying, "I'm really tired."

He went to sleep on the couch.
