Chapter 3 Hospital Examination
However, when she thought about her secret investigation from last night, which revealed that her parents' signature was required for the abortion at the hospital, how could she dare to ask her parents to sign for her? If they found out about her pregnancy, they would definitely kill her.
Her gaze couldn't help but fall on Damien. Although this man had saved her that day, didn't he also have some responsibility for the child?
Amelia wrestled with conflicting emotions and looked at Damien with a complicated expression.
Damien felt a bit uncomfortable being stared at by those watery eyes. It reminded him of the pitiable state she was in after his actions that day.
He moderated his tone to be more gentle and accommodating.
"I take responsibility for what happened that day, and I can compensate you accordingly."
Amelia looked at him and shook her head.
"I don't want any compensation. Can I ask you for a favor instead?"
Damien observed her cautiousness, it seemed like she had encountered some problem that she couldn't solve on her own.
"Alright, the sun is too hot. Let's go and talk in the car."
He led Amelia to the side of the black Bentley and reached out to pull out his good friend from the passenger seat.
"Please go in first and wish Lucius a happy wedding for me!"
His good friend was both shocked and curious. Damien was the most sought after bachelor in their circle. He couldn't help but lean in.
“Can I take a look at what that girl looks like through the car window? Is the iron tree really going to bloom?"
Damien immediately raised the window, ignoring the person outside knocking, and turned to look at Amelia.
He hesitated for a moment and asked, "How old are you?"
Looking at the remnants of baby fat on Amelia's cheek, he was really afraid that he had slept with a minor, which would be a crime that he couldn't justify in his conscience.
"Nineteen," she replied.
Damien silently breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, she's of age, he won't be committing a crime.
However, in the next moment, Amelia's words almost made him fall to the bottom of his seat.
"I'm pregnant."
Damien frowned. This familiar tactic usually meant that the person wanted money or wanted to climb up the social ladder. His buddies had experienced this kind of situation before and resolved it with money.
"How much money do you want?"
Amelia looked at Damien's cold face and pursed her lips, explaining, "I don't want money. I know you saved me that day, and I don't expect you to take responsibility. It's just that I can't handle this alone. You don't have to spend any money. Can you just sign the abortion consent form at the hospital?"
"What are you saying? What do you mean?"
Damien got out of the driver's seat, opened the rear door, and sat inside.
His sudden approach made Amelia uneasy. She anxiously moved to the side, trying to create some distance between them.
"I'm not trying to threaten you with the baby. I apologize for causing you any trouble. But to have an abortion, I need my parent's signature, and I can't let my parents know about this."
"Abortion?"
Damien's gaze fell on Amelia's flat belly. He couldn't believe that his child was growing there.
Seeing the displeasure on Damien's face and the cold gleam in his pitch-black eyes, Amelia tightly bit her lip, telling herself not to be afraid. She really needed his help.
"You don't have to worry about anything else, just help me sign the document. I promise to never appear in front of you again."
Amelia tried to persuade him because she was genuinely afraid that this person wouldn't help her. What would she do then? She even thought about directly accusing him of rape, but she couldn't bring herself to do such a thing. If it wasn't for Damien's appearance that day, her situation would have been even more tragic.
However, Damien grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer, despite her initial shock and the vast difference in their strength.
"What are you trying to do?"
Frowning, Damien's serious expression was a little intimidating.
He noticed that this girl was too frail. He hadn't used much strength earlier, but now, seeing her anxious and uneasy eyes, similar to those of a young deer, his voice softened involuntarily.
"Are you sure you're pregnant? Have you been to the hospital for a check-up?"
Amelia blinked her eyes twice.
"No, I didn't go to the hospital. I bought a test kit, and there were two lines."
Damien stared at her for a while, quickly returned to the driver's seat, and started the car directly.
Amelia was shocked and exclaimed, "My electric scooter is still there. Where are you taking me?"
"To the hospital. You can come back to get your scooter later," replied Damien.
The car stopped at Prestige Medical Group. Amelia knew that this was a famous private hospital where many celebrities and the wealthy sought medical treatment. However, ordinary people wouldn't typically go there.
Feeling a firm grip on her wrist, she looked down and saw Damien's large hand grabbing her gently, with a cool touch that didn't hurt.
Seeing the man's expression turning sour again, she didn't dare to object and obediently followed him inside. Damien led her directly to the top floor using the elevator.
The director and some high-level staff of the Prestige Medical Group were having a meeting when they heard that the big boss had arrived. They immediately ended the meeting and hurried back to their offices.
Damien pointed at Amelia and said, "Help her with a full medical check-up to see if she's pregnant."
The director, surprised but tactful, didn't ask further questions and personally conducted the examination for Amelia.
Damien sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, his eyes fixed on the entrance. Even now, he found it unbelievable, but there was also a faint sense of anticipation in his heart.
A child, Damien actually had a child? He laughed, genuinely from his heart.
Meanwhile, Amelia had finished the examination with the director and quietly asked, "How much does an abortion cost at your hospital?"
She was afraid she wouldn't have enough money. This hospital was known for being expensive, and she thought she could go to a smaller hospital instead.
The director looked at Amelia in shock. "Abortion? You don't want this child? This is a golden child!"
Amelia thought of Damien's cold and unwelcoming face, as well as her parents' disdain whenever they looked at her. Even if she wanted this baby, she didn't have the means to raise it!
The director couldn't quite understand, but considering that it might be the big boss who didn't want the child, after all, not just anyone can give birth to a Kingsleys' child.
With this thought in mind, he looked at the girl in front of him with a tinge of pity. What a tragedy!
This young girl thought that having a child would allow her to enter the Kingsleys family. How could a commoner marry into such a prestigious and long-standing dynasty.
