Chapter 8 Mr. Kingsley sure knows a lot
Damien entered the bedroom to change clothes, and when he came out, it was already dark outside, and Amelia was wearing the new dress Damien had bought and a light blue hat. Her long hair was loose, and it added a touch of sexiness to her youthful face.
This supermarket was very close to Damien's apartment.
In fact, Amelia rarely went grocery shopping before. Whenever her parents went to the supermarket, they would take her older brother or her younger brother with them, and she was always the one left at home to do chores.
"Take a look at what you specifically need and buy them all," Damien said, paying attention to Amelia. The supermarket was crowded, so when they encountered crowded aisles, he would naturally pull Amelia closer to him.
Amelia didn't bring anything with her when she left home, so she had to buy all the daily necessities again. She bought toothpaste, toothbrushes, towels, and other things.
When Amelia looked at the cups, Damien said, "Don't buy cups, we already have them at home. As for skincare products, you can tell me what brand you usually use, and I'll have my assistant bring them to you tomorrow morning. We'll buy some vegetables and get you some more food to keep at home, so you can fill your stomach when you're hungry."
Amelia pursed her lips. Why did she feel like a glutton?
"Did I...say anything while I was asleep?"
Damien's lips twitched slightly, and he shook his head. "You didn't say anything."
It was just that the housekeeper mentioned that she had a rumbling stomach, so Damien took note of it and knew that she easily gets hungry, so he prepared some snacks for her.
When they reached the area selling sanitary pads, Amelia looked at them out of habit but heard Damien whispering in her ear, "You won't need these since you’re pregnant now."
Amelia's face turned red as she looked up at him. "How...how did you know?"
Damien's mouth twitched. It was common knowledge, but looking at Amelia's innocent eyes, he couldn't help feeling guilty. "Let's buy some shrimp and make shrimp dumplings for you." He held Amelia's wrist and led her towards the seafood section.
Amelia secretly glanced at him, a strong and cold demeanor, unable to detect any sense of embarrassment.
Would she not have menstruation anymore after getting pregnant? She really didn't know. Just now, she was worried about being embarrassed if she had her period at someone else's house, so she wanted to prepare some, but it turned out she didn't need them!
The two of them bought a lot of things at the supermarket, with mostly food and some of Amelia's daily necessities, including mosquito repellent spray, which Damien surprisingly prepared for her.
When Amelia stood in the beverage section of a shelf and couldn't move forward, Damien said, "Let's get some drinks."
At that moment, Damien decisively pulled her along.
"You can't drink these while pregnant, only fresh juice and water," he said.
Amelia obediently agreed, but her eyes couldn't help but linger on those beverages.
After all, she was just a nineteen-year-old girl, the prime time for young girls to freely enjoy their youth. However, she was carrying a child and being controlled by Damien, the father of her child.
"I'll make you fresh juice when we get back."
Amelia nodded and followed him to the checkout counter, hurriedly picking out her own daily necessities from the shopping cart. Damien frowned.
"What are you doing?"
He gently maneuvered Amelia to the side.
"Stand there and wait for me."
Amelia bit her lip and stood on the side, waiting for Damien to finish paying before whispering.
"I actually can buy these myself."
In the end, she had only known Damien for a day. That night, he was so drunk that he probably couldn't remember much. She couldn't remember much herself, just that it was very painful.
Damien held onto the things with one hand and held her hand with the other.
"Don't think too much. You're carrying my child, so it's only natural that I take care of you and buy things for you. So you just relax."
Back at home, Damien took Amelia's daily necessities to organize them, and handed another bag of snacks directly to Amelia.
"You go find a cabinet specifically for these snacks, it'll be easier for you to grab them in the future."
Amelia nodded.
Damien's apartment wasn't particularly big, around 150 square meters, but for Amelia, who had always lived in a 50-square-meter old house, it was already big enough.
His gym took up the largest room, there was a study in one room, and there was also a bedroom.
The cabinets were mainly in the living room. Amelia opened them one by one and found that most of them were empty, with faint traces of life.
Thinking about the pristine condition of the kitchen she saw earlier, Mr. Kingsley probably didn't cook much either.
She took out the snacks one by one and arranged them in a three-tiered cabinet, each layer holding a different type – spicy, sweet, and sour. Amelia's taste hadn't really changed much yet, but Damien had prepared them for her.
"Are you done putting them away?
Damien walked over and handed her a glass of fresh juice.
"I'll be working for a little while. If you're tired, take a shower and go to bed early. If not, watch TV for a while."
Amelia nodded.
"Alright, Mr. Kingsley, go ahead and work."
Damien went into the study, and Amelia quietly let out a sigh of relief. Mr. Kingsley was here, but she couldn't help but feel nervous. Now the living room was empty, with only herself.
After having soup, she wasn't actually hungry anymore, but she still took out a bag of chips from the cabinet and went to turn on the TV. However... she couldn't see the TV.
She walked over and observed carefully for a while, realizing that the TV seemed to be inside the cabinet. She picked up the remote control and fiddled with it for a while, but the TV wouldn't turn on.
She ran to the hanger and took out her phone from her pocket, ready to check which button could work.
But she saw that there were more than a dozen missed calls on her phone.
She opened them and found that most of them were from her dad and younger brother Ryan, and there were also two from her best friend Ashley.
She opened the messaging app, and the sound of messages started to ring continuously.
There were messages from her dad, Ryan, and her elder brother, but Amelia didn't look at them immediately. Instead, she opened Ashley's voice message first.
"Amelia, where are you now? Your dad called to find you. Did you go out? Come home quickly."
"Amelia, did you come back? Why aren't you answering the phone? Did you get beaten? Did your mom scold you again? Don't be sad. I'll come find you tomorrow."
"Amelia, it's been four hours. Why aren't you answering the phone? What's wrong with you? You're driving me crazy!"
Upon hearing Ashley's anxious voice, Amelia bit her lip and lowered her head.
She opened her dad's message again.
"Amelia, where are you? Just come back and apologize to your mom. There's no long-lasting grudge between mother and daughter."
"Come back quickly. Your mom bought noodles today. If you don't come back, the Chicken Noodle Casserole will be gone."
"Sister, did you have a fight with mom again? Mom is actually tired. Why do you always make her angry? Come home quickly. I saved two servings of noodles for you today. If you want to eat, come home quickly!"
