Chapter 3
Tragedy's POV
The loud whistling horn of the train jolted me awake, my heart racing in panic. I blinked my eyes furiously, to help focus my sight on what was happening around me.
I soon came to grasps with where I was and what had happened the previous day... my rejection that lead me to boarding this train in the cold of the night.
Morning had now arrived, and with it came a slightly warmer temperature. However, my mind remained in a state of constant alertness, my senses attuned to every sound and movement.
The train soon began to slow, as my mind raced, considering my options and the potential risks ahead.
Should I attempt to jump off of the moving train, escaping before it would come to a complete stop? Or should I hide amongst the cargo and bide my time until a more opportune moment presented itself?
The decision had to be made swiftly... but I was terrified on which to pick...
But before I could settle on a course of action, the train abruptly came to a complete stop, leaving me with no choice but to find immediate cover.
Panic surged through me as I bit at the skin around my nails nervously, my eyes scanning the large carriage for the best possible hiding spot.
Outside, the voices of men laughing and shouting grew louder, sending a shiver down my spine. Time was running out, and I needed to find a hiding place before they discovered me.
With a surge of desperation, I sprinted towards a massive container, hoping that it would provide enough concealment for the time being.
As I opened the container, a nauseating stench assaulted my senses—a pungent odor of wolfsbane, a lethal substance known to be toxic to wolves.
I recoiled immediately, gagging at the noxious scent before quickly sealing the lid shut. Questions began to swirl in my mind... Why were they transporting such a dangerous chemical?
I moved to a crate next, in hopes that it would present itself as more suitable to hide in, but again squint when finding the box to be filled with large and dangerous weapons...
I reach out to touch one of the large knives, before wincing and retracting my hand instantly when realising that the stuff was made of silver - another material that would be lethal against wolves!
Why the heck is this train filled with this stuff? Who is this shipment for?
The sound of chains rattling outside signaled that the men were now opening the container - causing my heart to race as I knew I now had to act fast - time is running out!
I dash towards the back of the compartment, squeezing myself into a tight space between baskets and crates, before praying that I wouldn't be discovered.
Fear consumed me as I heard the sliding doors being pulled back, accompanied by the chatter of the men.
My breath hitched in my throat, and tears welled in my eyes as I fought to keep silent. They began to inspect the shipment, their conversation filling me with a sense of dread...
"This shipment goes to the Alpha," one man declared, his words sending a chill down my spine.
Panic surged within me. Where was I? Had I unknowingly entered another pack's territory? If that was the case...
"Does anyone smell that?" another man sniffed, causing fresh tears to stream down my face. Desperate to muffle any sounds, I pressed my sleeve against my mouth, praying that they wouldn't detect my presence.
"It smells like a fucking rogue, dude!" someone complained loudly, the words piercing through me like a knife.
My body trembled at the thought of being discovered in this confined space.
"Pull this train apart! If they aren't still on board, then they'll be close!" a man ordered, setting the plan into motion.
Terror surged within me as I struggled to devise an escape plan. Giving myself up and begging for forgiveness seemed futile, and attempting to outrun them in my weakened state would be fruitless.
They would only shift and catch me in seconds flat!
I sobbed once, my cry escaping out in to the confined space as I faced the hard truth - I was trapped. I mentally curse myself for letting the small sound leave my lips, as I await their next move, praying for safety...
The reality of my situation sunk in, and I realized that I had unwittingly become a rogue, trespassing into another pack's territory without permission.
The consequences were dire - I could be executed for this.
In that moment, a large hand reached through a small gap, grabbing hold of my baggy sleeve and yanking me out of my hiding spot. Complete fear coursed through me as I let out a piercing scream, my voice pleading for mercy.
"P-Please!" I begged instantly as they threw me to the ground amongst them all.
Cowering, I covered my head and curled into a defensive position, showing them my utmost submission and vulnerability.
Tears streamed down my face as I pleaded for my life, hoping that they would hear the desperation in my voice and spare me.
But the silence that followed was deafening. My pleas seemed to hang in the air, unanswered and disregarded. The tension mounted, my heart pounding in my chest as the men exchanged cautious glances, suspicion etched on their faces.
"The female might be a spy," one of them voiced, the accusation slicing through the air. My heart sank, realizing the gravity of their doubts.
I shook my head vehemently, my cries muffled beneath the weight of their suspicion.
"No... I promise..." I choked out between sobs, my voice barely audible. But my words fell on deaf ears, dismissed as the desperate pleas of a cornered wolf.
"That's exactly what a damn spy would say!" another man declared, his voice dripping with conviction. The verdict had been reached in their minds. I was an intruder, an imposter, and they believed I posed a threat to their pack.
"Take her to the Alpha! He would want to meet any spy that dares to enter this land!" One man scoffs, unbothered by me, as my lungs tighten from the order.
Without further discussion, they decided to take me to their Alpha, a decision that filled me with dread.
Perhaps the Alpha would see reason, recognize my vulnerability, and spare my life? Or maybe I was deluding myself, grasping at the thinnest strand of hope in a dire situation...
My own, soon to be Alpha, who turned out to also be my mate didn't even want me, so why would this one show me any mercy?
Two pairs of hands roughly hauled me to my feet, their grips tight and unforgiving. I kept my gaze lowered, avoiding eye contact with the men as they led me away from the train and onto a rocky path.
The pain radiating from my injured feet intensified with each step, causing me to grimace and groan in discomfort - as the wet tears trickled down my cheeks.
They didn't walk me far before shoving me into the back of a small van, its doors slamming shut, enveloping me in darkness.
Isolated and alone, I huddled into myself, my legs drawn tightly to my chest as I sobbed uncontrollably.
The van's engine roared to life, its vibrations echoing through the confined space as it embarked on a new journey—one that spelled uncertainty and possible doom for me.
I don't know the first thing about this pack... they could be completely brutal.
The sound of the tyres against the road mingled with the rhythm of my weeping, a dissonant symphony of despair.
Regret gnawed at me, clawing at my heart. How had I ended up in this perilous situation now? My reckless decision to board the train had led me straight into the clutches of danger. The pack I had inadvertently trespassed upon now viewed me as a spy, an enemy in their midst.
My thoughts raced, questioning who I could even be a spy for, but the answers eluded me. I was alone, vulnerable, and falsely accused.
The uncertainty of my fate loomed overhead, shrouding me in a veil of fear.
As the van hurtled through the unknown terrain, my mind churned with a mix of emotions—fear, regret, and defeat.
My fate was now in the hands of their knowingly dangerous Alpha male...
It didn't seem promising...
