Chapter 3: CRUSH "YOUR WIFE'S A GOLD DIGGER"
"Where the fuck are you already?!" Jeremy barked into the phone, slightly angered that Fred hadn't arrived when they had an urgent matter to discuss.
"Shut up, dude. I'm right in front of my office." He rolled his eyes then opened the door. He didn't bother to use the key because he was certain that Jeremy was in already.
Not to surprise him, he was definitely in.
Jeremy shot a glare at Fred before letting out a hiss that filled the entire office room.
"Honestly, you act like you're the boss here." Fred admitted then walked to him where he sat on one of the three sofas in his office, dropping his briefcase right next to him.
"Adalyn Milo will be here to see you very soon. You have an appointment with her in five minutes." Jeremy informed him.
" Ew! Why?!" He exclaimed, scrunching his face up in disgust.
"Please, it's really important. She's planning on having a business relationship with our company. If you do business with her, it'll favor us pretty well." He pleaded.
"Why didn't you tell me so I could've cancelled this shit?" Fred groaned.
"I intentionally didn't tell you because I knew you would want to cancel it." He rolled his eyes then rose to his feet. "You have no other option, boss." He chuckled teasingly.
Adalyn walked into Fred's office in a glowing red dress that showed a lot of her cleavage with a matching pair of red heels. Her blonde hair and dashing black earrings were resting on her shoulders and her face was totally painted with makeup.
"Hi, Fred. It's really nice meeting you. Again." She said coquettishly, batting her eyelashes as she stretched her long and expensively manicured hands towards him.
Fred rose to his feet dilatory then with all hesitation and grumpiness, he accepted her handshake.
"It's nice meeting you too." He replied sarcastically.
"So… I see you got divorced from Mina." She started before they had their seats. She sat on the chair opposite to his office chair.
"Yeah." He simply nodded, expressing it in his tone that he didn't want to talk about her.
"That's very great." She cleared her throat then puffed her chest intentionally.
"You… uh… you know… last time we met," she started, scratching the back of her neck nervously. Fred could already tell where this was going and he wasn't liking it. Wasn't she supposed to be here for business?
"You said you didn't accept me because you were married." She grinned weirdly. " Well… now, you're single so…" she trailed off.
Seriously? Fred thought. He started to feel irritated by her again. How crazy could this woman be?
Adalyn had approached him when he had gone to a club with Jeremy a few months ago. She had come to him then tried to flirt with him but he rejected her, telling her that he was married.
He had met her on a few more occasions again at business meetings, parties and high-class events and she had still tried to convince him.
Adalyn's father happened to be a rich and very successful business man so she had inherited his wealth and everything he had.
Adalyn was trying to get into a business deal with Fred's company, mostly because she was damn interested in him. She just felt he was the perfect man for her.
Doing business with her was going to boost his company so well but he just couldn't stand how slutty she was.
"Seriously?" He frowned.
"What? You're not married anymore and I'm totally available." She winked, seductively chewing her pinky fingernail.
"How more can you be irresponsible and shameless?" He wasn't ready to pretend to like her anymore like he had agreed to do for Jeremy's sake.
A frown etched on her face then they both rose up, one at a time.
"Adalyn, I'm married again, to Jayda so please," I joined my palms together, "get lost!"
"Jayda? Jayda what?" Recognition dawned on her which was as equal as good. If she knew Jayda, that was going to be a saving grace for Fred.
"Jayda Black, my legally married wife." He stated.
"Jayda Black? I know that crap. How could you stoop so low to marry such a gold digger?" Her words sank into Fred's brain and caused an electric spark to have a war against his brain cells.
Jayda had gone to the chicken restaurant where she previously worked part-time.
She went to submit her resignation letter.
She couldn't be working there when she was the wife of Fred Maklaw, it just wasn't right.
The woman acknowledged the fact that she really loved her spirit and her working ability. Hence, was going to miss the hell out of her.
Jayda never knew her boss appreciated her that much, because the woman was always so arrogant, rude and very mean towards her workers that everyone only read hatred in her eyes. But talking to her normally made her have a change of mind concerning her.
Well, she was now free from working there.
As she was heading home, she only realized that one of Fred's companies (his main company) was located on the next street to the chicken restaurant.
As a result of that, she decided to stop and say hi to her so-called husband.
On getting there, the eyes of people were so fixed on her as everyone was either pointing out the bad things about her looks and judging her character, or how lucky she was to be called 'Mrs Maklaw'.
Different security men automatically started following her for security purposes due to her status while others just cleared the path she was walking.
Jayda only thought of it as being overly dramatic but in a way, she loved it.
"Hi," Jeremy greeted, halting Jayda's movement.
She averted her gaze to him then managed to force a smile even though she really didn't feel like smiling at the moment.
"Hello. You should be… Jeremy?" She asked unsurely then he nodded.
"Yes, you're right." He clarified, wearing a blissful grin.
"I'm Fred's best friend." He introduced himself.
"Oh, I know." She replied uninterestedly, almost rolling her eyes. "Fred mentions your name about a billion times to the point that it becomes so irritating." She admitted. And, she had seen his picture accidentally.
"Hm." He nodded, forcing a smile. He wasn't sure if he was to be annoyed because she sounded so rude.
"Where's my husband?" She inquired.
"He's having a meeting with someone, in his office." He informed her.
"A meeting? With who?" She furrowed her eyebrows. She assumed that he was going to be free because it was lunchtime so why the hell was he having a meeting? "Isn't it lunchtime?"
"Yes, it is. But she's really important and wouldn't be available after lunchtime." He explained.
"Who exactly is 'she'?" She questioned him.
"Adalyn Milo, they..." He didn't get to finish his statement because she screamed.
"Adalyn Milo?!"
"Yeah?" He replied slowly, raising a befuddled eyebrow at her.
"Geez! Where's his office?" She shouted.
"There." He jerked his thumb to the door of Fred's office. "Wait. You can't go in, it's..." He warned but she ignored him and stormed to Fred's office.
"Jayda Black, my legally married wife." She heard Fred say.
"Jayda Black? I know that crap. How could you stoop so low to marry such a gold digger?" Adalyn's voice bounced on Jayda's brain like a volcano as it made her head boil.
She furiously opened the door then Adalyn was the first person her eyes landed on.
"You, bitch!" She stated venomously.
