Chapter 4: I NEED YOUR TRUST
"You, bitch." Jayda barked at Adalyn.
Adalyn's eyes bugged out in fear. She knew she was done for.
Jayda stormed in till she was directly in front of her.
She was in a total rage and she felt like yanking her hair, pulling every strand from her scalp.
"I heard Fred got married to someone else but I didn't expect it to be a cheap, moronic woman like you." She admitted, eyeing her from head to toe. She could see the change Fred's wealth had caused in her appearance.
"How dare you have the guts to speak to me?" This was so unbelievable to Jayda.
"It's really…" Adalyn started again.
"Women, please what's going on?" Fred enquired, walking from behind the table to stand directly in front of both women.
"Stay out of this, Freddy." Jayda snapped. It could've gotten Fred angry but the way she called 'Freddy' sounded quite cute to him so he ignored her rude response.
"Why? Are you also afraid to let him know?" Adalyn smirked, shaking her head. "You still haven't changed a bit."
"I said shut the hell up!" She screamed again.
"Why? You're scared of being defeated once more, uhn? Despicable woman." She gave a mocking remark and that was enough to trigger the bullet of a hard slap from Jayda, the one she wasn't fortunate enough to have given her before now.
Adalyn couldn't believe her eyes. Her hand automatically found its way to rub her cheek that was already so red from the slap.
Even though she tried to control it, she just couldn't control the tears that formed at the corner of her eyes.
"How dare you?" She spoke weakly.
Fred was laughing internally like crazy. He didn't understand what was going on but the slap was dangerously great.
"Jayda Black," she called her by her maiden name. "I promise you that you'll regret raising your hand to slap me." She promised.
She couldn't bear to embarrass herself by crying or letting water fall from her eyes so she hurriedly turned and took her leave.
"Wow! Bravo, wife! I'm really impressed." He acknowledged. "So, it was that easy to send her out of this place. I guess I'll call you every time she comes here." He chuckled but stopped when he caught the seriousness in her face.
"She comes here every time?" She asked.
"Not necessarily every time, but..." He trailed off and squinted his eyes in askance. "How do you know her?"
"It's none of your business." She wasn't interested in letting him know.
"How the hell isn't it my business when I contain a large portion in this." He wondered.
Clutching her clutch, she glared at him then left his presence.
"Jayda!" He called after her then hurriedly arranged his necessary files into his briefcase before running after her.
He was quick enough to meet her just before she got into a car.
"Stop being so grumpy." He held her wrist.
His touch helped to calm her down a lot and she just loved the feeling of his skin on her so she had to stop.
The muscles in her face that were puckered found their way to return to their normal ways.
"Jayda, honey." He started to tease.
He handed his briefcase to Seth who kept it in the car.
He curled his arms around her waist then placed a warm kiss at the crook of her neck.
There was no way this wasn't going to be in the gossip magazines the next morning.
"Please, stop." Her voice came out quietly because his lips against her skin made her feel like she was choking on something.
"Why? Are you scared?" She really hated that question. She needn't be scared so people needed to stop that sentence already.
"No way. Scared of what, exactly?" She hissed.
"You're scared that the media might get to know how much of a trouble this wife of mine is." He replied.
Without effort, he turned her so her back was facing him then still wrapped his arms around her waist.
Fred showered kisses on her neck and cheeks. It was really embarrassing that he was doing this public.
"Stop." She loosened free from him roughly then walked to the car, getting into it.
In no time, Fred also got in and couldn't stop laughing. He found her cute. Her grumpiness was just so priceless.
"How about we go to a romantic restaurant for more fun? I bet you loved my kisses. I could give you more." He said huskily.
The latter part was true though but she didn't want more of it in a restaurant.
"No, thank you. We're going home." She declared.
"Whatever you say, Mom." He teased. It was now her turn to laugh as she laughed at the fact that he called her "Mom" for a long time.
"Goodnight." Jayda said silently then turned to lay on her side so she could stare at Fred.
"Goodnight? You still haven't told me how you know and despise Adalyn so much, and you expect me to just sleep?" His curiosity was scratching him so much and it needed to be fed.
Jayda didn't say a word but only stared at him like she was lost in a 100-year-thoughts.
Jayda was so used to keeping things to herself and she wasn't ready to share things with him.
"Why do you keep things from me? We're married and married people should share everything with each other." He tried to convince her but she still didn't say a word.
Fred let out a sigh and there was silence between the duo for a few minutes.
"Jayda?" He called.
"Hm?" She hummed her response.
He snuggled closer to her, curling an arm around her waist.
"Please trust me, I need it." He desperately pleaded. He needed the trust of his wife desperately.
Jayda still didn't say a word.
He tightened his grip around her till his body was so pressed against hers, so he stared directly into her eyes while their noses touched each other.
"Why is it so important that I tell you?" She whispered.
"It's not just about Adalyn, it's about us. I want our marriage to work and trust is the foundation of every relationship."
"Me too." She simply muttered. She also wished their marriage could work out well.
"Adalyn was the one who Charles, my ex-boyfriend cheated on me with. Despite the fact that she's rich, she's a really big whore." She started.
"Charles lied that she was his sister so she lived with us for a few weeks before I eventually caught them red-handed." She summarized.
"As she was dating Charles, she was also dating someone else. She's really crazy. She'd do anything to have a man she wants, for herself."
"We attended the same college and we really hated each other due to a lot of things but I was forced to like her because I thought of her as my boyfriend's sister." She explained.
"Not only did Charles break up with me because of her, they both insulted me, said I was only interested in Charles' money, treated me like shit." She clenched her fists in a rage. The anger she felt was still present. "It still annoys me that I didn't give her the beating of a lifetime then took my time to break all of Charles bones."
Fred gently took her clenched fists in his hands and circled his thumb on her palms which helped in calming her down.
He rested his head on the crook of her neck and made her arms go around his neck with his around her waist.
"What if I want to do business-like matters with her?" Fred asked. He knew that wasn't possible but he still asked to know her response.
"No, you're not. Didn't you see how she was dressed, and she stated that she knew you were married." Jayda's jaw clenched. "She's only after you and would try to take you away from me too."
"Calm down, babe. I was only teasing you." He giggled. "Don't worry about Adalyn, she's nothing compared to you. I belong to you and you alone."
For the first time after their wedding day, he gave her a long kiss on her lips.
"I love you, I think." He uttered with a shrug after they broke the kiss.
"You think?" A line appeared between her eyebrows.
"Geez, you tend to frown and get angry easily. You also talk too much. I don't think Mina talked this much or ever got this angry." He laughed so hard and shut his eyes to intensify his laughter as he remembered when she was bored and decided to tell him a lot of things that pissed her off in high school and college. He was only saved from her talking when he had to hurry to work
He concluded his laughter with a sigh.
On staring directly into the eyes of Jayda, he knew he had made a hell of a mistake by mentioning Mina.
"Don't you ever compare me with your ex-wife." She stated so seriously, her eyes were already so red and he could swear that he saw smoke coming out of her ears.
