CHAPTER 2

I come back to the room and he is still there, lying on the bed with his eyes closed. I can feel myself going red from anger at the man that is so ruining my evening.

"You have a hard time hearing or understanding, don't you!?" I snap hardly, placing a tight hand on my hip.

"Coming from someone who was dumbfounded on the floor about twenty minutes ago, I'll take that as a compliment." He mumbles in spite before opening his eyes to look at me.

His eye widens when he saw me fully dressed and his gaze hungrily rakes the whole of my body from head to toe. For an odd reason, his eyes make me feel nervous and a shiver runs down my spine. The dress is black and glittering, cut four inches from the hip, making it hang dangerously over my thigh. The fitting is pretty as well as provoking as it displays my curves perfectly for everyone to see, even this pervert.

The three Js say it is a perfect attention catcher. Now I know what they meant.

"Look away, pervert, this body isn't made for your stupid needs."

He recovers himself a minute after and awkwardly clears his throat. "What did you say again?"

This time I'm the one that glared at him. "I said get out!" I yell with a clenched fist.

"I can't, this is my room." He says with a careless shrug of his shoulder. He pulls out the key from his pocket and tosses it to me.

I look at the key in my hand and look at the number imprinted on its holder; it was written room 69 quickly I search in my bag which is on the table and pull out my key and turn the holder to see the number imprinted on it. Fuck, what the hell? It is also sixty-nine.

"This must be some stupid joke," I say lowly, with much anger. "There must be some kind of mistake."

"That's exactly what I'm thinking." He prompts in, earning a glare from me. He ignores my glare and continues. "'Cause I remember the receptionist said room sixty-nine, sir, with a cheerful smile."

I cringe at the thought of the receptionist calling him sir, shouldn't that be illegal?

By the way, why is there a sudden change in him? Twenty minutes ago, he was so mad that he could have killed me with his bare hands if he wanted to and now he's all calm. There is something fishy.

"The receptionist said the same thing to me except she said, young Miss," I muttered quietly. "There must be a mistake. We need to see the receptionist and sort this thing out." That's all I say before he gets up and walks towards me.

He stops when his face is inches away from mine, and I stare at the mischievous man who is towering over me with his height and built and making me feel incredibly small.

I can feel the heat coming from his body from the little space between us. I can't believe a guy I just met can have such an effect on me. Maybe because I haven't been close with a guy in a long time is the only excuse I can tell myself as I shiver internally.

He lowers his face, bringing his lips dangerously close to mine.

He isn't planning on kissing me, is he? What if he is? Oh, holy nothing keeps me still in this trying time.

My breath cut when I feel his soft lips brush over my cheek, down my jaw to whisper in my ears. "Okay, let's go." And with that, he draws away and walks towards the door quickly, like nothing happened.

Wait, did something happen?

I take a moment to get myself together. This shouldn't be happening, not tonight, not with him!!

I follow behind him and we come to a young lady receptionist who is busy typing something on the computer before her. The older one is gone, and I cuss under my breath so I wouldn't have to loudly cuss her.

The lady raises her head and looks at us; her gaze lingering longer on the man to hungrily study him and I almost roll my eyes. Almost.

"What can we do for the two of you?" She asks, too polite to the man if you'll ask me.

Before the man can reply, I cut in. "We both have the same key and it gave us the same room. We want it corrected."

The lady gives us a concerned look before asking, "What number is it if I might ask?"

"Room number sixty-nine," I reply quickly, passing the key to her.

She collects the key and studies it for a while, then reads something on the computer again before looking at us with an apologetic look. "We are sorry Miss, Sir but there's nothing we can do."

I mentally grab her hair. "You know what screw you! Where's your manager?" I demand hotly.

"He's in a meeting." She replies with a cool tone.

This time the man speaks up before I can fire any more cuss at the lady. "Look here, miss..." He looks carefully over her chest like he kept something there. "Clara, there must be a mistake somewhere. We are not together if you know what I mean, and we would appreciate our privacy."

"I'm sorry, but room sixty-nine has been chosen for this year's matchmaking and you two are the Five-Star hotel couple of the year. Congratulation!!!" She squeals happily like she's the one getting married.

Congratulation??!

She presses a loud button, and in a minute the whole place is getting filled up with people and workers, some bringing out cameras and others on their phone to take pictures.

This is so not happening right now!!!!

I turn to the man to see that he is just as shocked as I am.

This would have been perfect if they did not match me to a poor, loud, arrogant loser!!!

I'm going to have to switch to Plan B. I will have to find myself a rich millionaire tonight.

Someone grabs me by the arm. I try to wiggle away, but as much as the hands are soft, there are incredibly strong too. I turn to see the man pulling me along.

"What the hell dude, let me go you perv. I'm not going back in there with you," I say with a snort as I drag my hand away.

"Would you rather be out there? They were going to take our pictures and as much as I don't like you, I'd rather be with you than have them do that." He says with a haughty tone and snaps my head up to glare daggers at him. "I can't let them take my picture."

Oh please, don't tell me you're so poor you don't even know what a camera is.

I cross my arm over my chest. "Why is that, if I might ask?" I raise my brow.

Something quickly flickers in his eyes before he frowns at my word, "I just don't want them to."

I hiss, "Whatever. Your shit is not my business, just stay out of my way tonight." I brush past him and walk to the door, then I realize I'm not with the key. I sigh in frustration, placing my head on the door.

Today's going all the wrong ways!!

Someone taps my shoulder, and I scowl, knowing who it is. This man is definitely going to be the death of me!!

"I can let you stay in my room if you want."

Are my ears deceiving me or did he just call it his room?!

My brow furrowed in confusion. "Since when did the room become yours?"

"Since I have both keys?" He says it like a question, dangling the key so I hear them. "And if you are going to stay in my room, some things are going to change."

I turn to look at him; he looks serious. "Like what idiot?"

"First, my name is Rory, not pervert and certainly not an idiot. You can't cuss or throw mean words my way. We are going to share the room equally, and no picking fight with me."

I so pity whoever marries this loser.

I stew quietly where I stand, glaring hardly and wishing they will pierce him and kill him.

"Do we have a deal?" He stretches his hand for a shake.

Is he bipolar?

"Deal," I say, but I don't shake him.

He awkwardly withdraws it and scratches his head before going and opening the door.

I push him out of my way of making him stumble and enter the room. I take a sit on the bed and lower my head to rest on my hands. I seriously need to think tonight through. It needs to be perfect no matter what happens, no matter who tries to ruin it. I have a mission and it must be accomplished.

"Are you okay?" The man named Rory asks with a bit of concern in his tone.

"What do you care?"

"Do you have to be rude?

I scoff, "Coming from someone who hasn't apologized for calling me a whore a while back, I'll take it as a compliment." I reply, my face still buried in my hand.

He takes a deep breath, "Okay I'm sorry I called you that." He apologized, "What's wrong with you?"

I laugh to myself. I'm not telling a stranger my problem because he apologized and told me his name.

So I just say. "None of your business." I kick my shoes off and let myself fall back on the bed.

He says nothing back after standing and probably glaring at me, he just walks out of the room.

Did he leave? Did I chase him off? A part of me finally feels free and happy while another feels bad for being so mean to him.

...

It's quiet for a while now. He is not yet back and I think he is gone, which is a good thing for me.

The colour flashing through the window draws my attention as I get off the bed and walk to the window. I look around and I see that there is a party going on outside. I notice that all the ladies there are dressed in classy dresses, and the men are dressed in black suits and I can bet there are as expensive as hell.

Finally, something is going right for once this night.

I've got to be there.

I run over to my bag and pull out my black purse. Re-do my make-up and put on my perfume. I put my shoes back on and I'm ready.

I have never done something like this before, but that doesn't mean I haven't taken lessons from Jake and Josh on how to act and behave in a classy social gathering.

I step into the beautiful garden where the party is taking place and approach the crowd. Some men notice me coming and their eyes widen in awe. I feel my cheek go red from the attention and I try to hide it.

"Wine Miss." A server says to me and I smile before taking a glass of wine from his tray.

"Thank you." I kindly say to the fine young man.

He nods before leaving.

I take a sip and further walk into the crowd, mainly because I need to know what the party is about. I hear from some people taking that it is a fundraising party.

Fundraising? All I have in my purse is 44 cents.
